It was a great spot for us to get south towards Bosnia. Not that much traffic, so could be harder in the evening hours or at night. Probably hard to get here if you don’t get dropped off by another car. Good luck & safe travels!

This is surprisingly a relly good spot. A lot of Cars going to north by the coastline. Drivers can pull to the turning lane, witch is not that used. We cought a ride to Zadar in like 5 min. We held a sign with ouer destination. There Is also a store near by, but there Is no shade to hide in.

We were going to Zadar, we have waited for over an hour but nobody took us. There were too many locals and not that many long distanc drives. There was also no shade to hide in. After the long wait have mooved to trafic lights more outside of the city- much better spot.

1h bus to get there (w beautiful landscapes) but worth it. Mostar sign. took 1hour. make sure to stand in the painted triangles on the floor just next to the tollbooth so u can make eyes contacts w drivers.

Thumbing and sign didn’t work as cars are going too fast. I had to ask around and someone with a BIH licence plate eventually took me all the way to Banja Luka.

It feels like a good spot but we still waited for a long time. A lot of trafic, but not many people going to Dubrovnik, witch is surprising. At least you can buy a drink.

This is a great spot, there is a lot of trafic and a lot of people going long distaces. Drivers can stop here easely, a few of them stop there to take pictures, so you can ask them directly. We made a sign and got pick up almost immedeately. A very nice Kanadian man took us straight to Split.

I just arrived from Zagreb and went to the Croatian border (where the cars go) where I talked to a police officer that told me to take the pedestrian way (basically you go left before the customs and go for a specific border control for pedestrians on the left). She was nice but I do not think they would accept you to hitchhike there. I crossed the Croatian border in 5mn, there was no queue (advantage of hitchhiking a border versus having a car or being in a bus). Then I went on the bridge and started to hitchhike. The cars go very slow there. I had a cardboard sign "Sarajevo". A lady took me straight to Sarajevo !

Nice spot as cars are turning onto motorway from 3 directions and also can see you from a distance while they wait at the lights. Got a ride in 15 mins to Gradiska border with Serbia. I waited just past the crossing after vehicles have turned onto westbound highway, there is a bus layby behind me where my driver could pull in. Sign read BIH / Kutina

Two young guys sign with Mostar/Dubrovnic. Two other offers but weren’t going south. Guy gave us a ride to 50km from Mostar, bought us beers, and bought us a motel room for the night. Spot seems good but seems like minority of drivers going south.

Loads of space for cars to pull over if you are going south/split, little shade tho. Also good amount of traffic, after 20 minutes we (2 guys) had a ride to split. Used split sign

There is shade from the trees and space for cars to pull over, not that many cars but we (two guys) were still picked up immeadietly and a nice women took us to sibenik. We used sibenik and maybe we were just lucky.

There is a bus stop next to Lidl where cars can pull over, good traffic flow, after 20 minutes we (2 guys) got a ride home o Voice

Waited for 50 minutes with sibenik sign. Bosnian guy offered to take us to Biograd, he drank a beer mid drive. slightly concerning

A lot of cars coming through. Most are packed families. After 45 of asking a guy took us to Zadar. There nice shaded spots to rest and free public fountain

Started trying on Sunday evening for 2 hours with no luck, there is a good place to sleep north at a small lake. Continued the next day another two hours until a guy kindly took us to another service station closer to Zadar. We (two guys used „Zadar“ and „A1 South“ and asked and the fuel pumps.

Very chilled dude took us (two guys) almost immediately. Another old guy wanted 30 euros for 25 km. Used „Autocesta“ sign to get to the service station near Brinje, he would have taken us further but we wanted to go south.

This highway is literally dead as of 08/2026. There was roughly one car per minute passing on the highway, so no chance to catch someone on that empty parking lot. We decided to stand right on the highway at the entry to the parking lot, there we were very visible for every passing car and they theoretically were able to take the ramp onto the parking lot. I think an issue is that the highway is very new and also costs money, people also seemed quite unwilling to take us. After 2hours someone stopped and took is to croatia, we were literally about to abort and walk to the next rural road to get to the Udvar boarder crossing into croatia. We could easily have ended up spending the night here if it wasn’t for that nice croatian guy. Wouldn’t recommend this route. Good luck and safe travels.

it’s high trafic, we stood there for hours. wanted to go to Croatia. nothing worked, no tables worked. On this spot hitchhikers staying almost everyday (we have met 13 of them at the same time (CRAZY😁), so that’s why maybe no one takes you even if it’s high traffic. Its better to go to the right on A2 to some bus or gas station (some of us did this and the got picked up). Anyway. Some guys were going to Zagreb and one car took them straight to Zagreb.

Stood here for a good 6 hours trying to get a lift to Zagreb. We weren't offered a single ride (even after dropping our sign), until we finally got one all the day. The driver (a local from Budapest who apparently often drives from Budapest to Zagreb) said it's probably not a good spot for people wanting to go to Croatia.

Heading to Petrovac. On this road, there is a lot of traffic, the traffic is slow, and the sidewalk is at the same level as the road --- so you'd have no problem being seen or the driver pulling over. Signed and thumbed. Got picked up by an Albanian tour van heading towards Croatia. One female

Weak traffic. Also a rival pair of hitchhikers was here 😡😡 not helpful at all! Had ambitions to go to Croatia with a sign Osijek/Bosnia, however after some time we jumped for a car that took us to Mohac.

Almost zero traffic, however, the first car that came by gave us a ride. We had a sign OSIJEK/BOSNIA. She was going to Vinkovci, but ended up drivin us to the Croatia/Bosnia border. Thats why shes the GOAT!!!

Kinda low traffic, wanted to go south towards Croatia, with signs Osijek a Bosnia, got a ride with a guy who was going to Pecs-got dropped off at the last gas station before Pecs.

Two people standing at the petrol station exit, there's a sign pole where we found an "official hitch spot" sticker haha. Since it was Saturday morning and super hot most of the cars were full, lots of locals heading to the beach in Neum. Also a lot of ppl headed to Croatia. We got picked up by lovely couple who initially drove past but backtracked to take us to Stolac.

you can propably easily find a ride in the morning from tourists going to croatia, french couple took me to dubrovnik

Although this spot seems hard to get to at first (you have to take a bus, walk and then jump a fence), it is worth it. There was a lot of truckers resting, asked two croatian guys where they were going and they took me right to the slovenia-croatia border.

Waited not long, a nice Croatian guy took us to the next gas station and have us some beers as it was holidays in Croatia the next day and he wanted to celebrate with us

I asked around 5 minutes. Two guys from Croatia gave me a ride to Croatia Croatian is my mother language, I think that helped me a lot. April, Sunday 3 pm, not much cars

Amazing visibility and even space for a truck to stop. All the traffic from the highway to Croatia passes through here.

It's not a good place for a couple we waited a whole afternoon then slept here in tent on the next morning we found a truck driver who took us to Croatia. If you are alone it can be good there are some trucks there and most of them willing to take one person. ou can go to Slovenia or croatia from here but come here only if you are alone.

It was July and many people were driving to Croatia etc. so it was very hard to find someone who have a free place :( It's always better to ask drivers for a ride. In July it's 1/5 star
