Easy to get to and space to pull over

Quite a bad spot in my opinion, very annoying to get to, petrol station very quiet and motorway traffic mostly going too fast to stop. Got a ride to Mostar but I think that was very lucky, none of the other cars that had come in to the petrol station before were even leaving the city

Very easy to find a lift here. Either ask around or stand at the exit. We found a lady going to Munich who dropped us at Bled on the way

Perfect spot on paper, but waited a long time to find anyone even willing to pull over. After over two hours with only two cars stopping and not going our direction we walked up to the highway, not very safe but took only minutes for a car to offer a lift to a petrol station close to the border

All traffic is super local, 95% of the cars are Zagreb number plates. Even then, might just be Croatia - no one stops, got flipped off a couple of times. Going accross the bridge is an option, but be aware - end of the bridge is the start of the highway. Off-ramp is towards Maribor. Ended up deciding just to hike up into the city and getting a train.

got lucky with a ride to balaton after it has gotten dark. asked around, got on a van full of ukrainians, luckily they spoke russian and so did i, so that might've helped.

Horrible spot. Offramp is tiny and too often used for anyone to stop, all traffic is intercity or nearby villages, people not to keen to stop to take you even to next gas station or toll booth. Police station nearby, and there is no amenities, you cannot even walk up and down the road safely. Don't go, not worth it. Lighting at night also shabby.

Nice bus stop but no one stopped for over two hours. Ad the end I got a ride to Beli Manastir

First I stood here on day before and didn't get any ride in 2 hours so I went to nearby forest and camped there (good spot for that is nearby lidl, not here). Today on the other hand i got ride in like 20 minutes to bus stop half the way to beli manastir so waiting times depends on luck here and maybe on time of a day

Small space for stopping but enough. Bigger problem is not the biggest traffic and lack of will to stop from most of the drivers but still after some time I got ride to Osijek old town

There is some space for stopping but because of road closer and lack of transit traffic from Serbia getting to Osijek from Vukovar is now quite hard but I was able to get a ride towards road from border to Osijek. Still not the best place right now

Bus stop with large space for stopping but I had to wait a little till I got ride to Vukovar

I quickly got ride little bit further towards Vukovar, there isn't much traffic here but thanks to that this limited space for stopping works quite well

Just confirming that there isn't any problem with crossing this border on foot but still I recommend taking other way to Croatia because of low traffic here

Space for stopping is nice and you have good visibility but still getting a ride was quite hard here. Almost no one was stopping and most people weren't going far away but eventually I got a ride to the border but that's only because my driver drove me there even though he wasn't going all the way to border. Traffic to it is extremely low and I think that because of that going through this border isn't the best way to Croatia from Vukovar

Nice spot for heading towards Croatia

Amazing spot!! Great visibility, a lot of space, even for trucks to stop. This is the spot if you‘re heading to croatia. First truck directly picked us up to Rijeka.

Great spot, we can take the time to talk to people and there's a lot of passage. Accessible by foot so you don't die trying to get on the highway. A guy took us straight to Croatia, forever grateful!!

This spot sucks dick. As of September 2026 this highway towards Croatia is absolutely dead. One car in 3 minutes is passing. In the evening suddenly a nice croatian guy took us to Osijek were we slept. Without him we would be absolutely fucked and probably still there without a lift. Try the other roads!!! There is way more traffic and more locals use this towards Bosnia.

Chill spot. Stood right in front of the gas station with a sign saying “Croatia”. Bosnian family was really nice. They gave me honey.

Had a sign that said “Croatia” and got a ride within 5 minutes. Good direction towards the coast of Slovenia and Croatia. There’s a road where people can turn in and everyone is not going that fast. It’s the last part of the road before all the traffic goes on highway.

Honestly, not the worst spot in the world. It serves as good mid-point between Croatia/Slovenia. Hitchhiked there around 11 AM on a Wednesday. Not a lot of traffic but it started picking up a bit in a few hours. Opposite to what everyone on here was saying, most people were going to Croatia and I wanted to go to Slovenia haha. Luckily a truck driver noticed me and told me to come with and took me all the way to Slovenia (my first truck ride heheh). Went an unusual route and went through Croatia then Slovenia instead of going directly through Slovenia (his end destination was Italy). I waited in front of the gas station with my sign saying “Slovenia”.

We got a ride to the next gas station when it was dark. We were with 4 people and kinda desperate. This did seem like an okay spot to camp if you get stuck. Most cars going south are a bit to far in the middle of the road to stop, someone local who loved warhammer ended up taking us to the truck stop. There we got a ride to croatia.

Easy to access straight from Ljubljana (check hitchhiker wiki for good direction) but not at good spot for going to Zagreb. Not many cars, even fewer going direction Novo Mesto/Croatia

August, Monday, 11 AM, I had luck. Small border between Cro and Bih. Livno-Sinj direction. A teacher from Croatia gave me a ride and helped me a lot. No shadow at all

Catastrofical Spot. Nobody was taking us with. Also really hard to reach. No sidewalk or something to walk on in soght. In general at the coast of Croatia it was really hard to hitchhike. I would recommend the lokal bus lines or the flixbus

Police didn’t really like what we were trying to do and was talking about breaking the law. We talked a bit with him and how we already did it in the rest of Croatia and in the end he was fine. We stood after the toll booth, there is lots of space to pull over. Got a ride half the distance to Mostar.

People in croatia are very fiendly, we walked towards the spot, and they already saw us at the Lidl and then directly stopped

In theory not bad, but same problems as the roundabout at the other side of the highway: quite „complex“ traffic here with separated lanes for the cars going in all different directions. You probably wont catch a lot of cars going on to the highway here somehow, even if the spot itself (bus stop) is quite okay for cars to pull over, there is not that much traffic coming by which is going towards the highway. (Area around here itself is quite busy but you definitely got less traffic here than at the other roundabout at the other side somehow) Better try the gas station at the highway next to here, if you wanna catch a ride going on to the highway towards Izola/south/Croatia! (worked for me :))
