Perfect spot to ask around and get a direct ride to Tallinn. I literally even didn't finished writing my Tallinn sign, when a kind woman came to me, pointed at my unfinished sign and said that she could give me a lift to Tallinn

Do you want to go to Finland and have experience of the lifetime? If yes, this is a place for you. Stand by the gate to the pier, there is only one and every boat owner need to come through it. Now just ask if somebody is going to Finland and maybe you will be lucky as I was.
Few tips:
Good weather helps
On Friday and weekend plenty of people are going to Finland and back
Summer is prime time
Looking clean is useful
Absolutely majority of boat owners don't wake up before 10 am.
Have your ID/ passport ready.

Good spot to catch cars/trucks out of the ferry, there's space to stop and entrance to a parking. If you come in the Viking Line you will have time to catch at least the last half of the vehicles heading out. Got a truck almost all the way to Riga. Solo female, in the middle of a storm, sign Latvia.

Coming from Tallink line. Wasn't lucky enough to get a ride before we arrived. Passengers are directed away from the car traffic through bridges, and you won't have enough time to walk to where the cars exit before they finish. Was lucky that a Viking ferry was arriving just half an hour later, so I headed to the better spot next to the roundabout.

Bus stop on a long straight road. Small traffic out of the town. We were thinking of going after the crossroad but we catched a ride fast. Before we tried on Metsamaja bus stop for 30+minutes and were not succesful.

I added this spot 'cause maybe it's the best to stay on the road to Tallinn if you come from Narva and the car you're in turns or stops.

Moved here from the other spot next to the Sillaotsa bus stop (waited there 2,5h). From here I got a ride in 10min directly to Ikla (Estonia-Latvia border). Stand next to the motorway at the traffic lights, use a thumb preferably.

Amazing gas station for either direction, try to find PL cars for going Poland and EST,LV for Latvia/Estonia, a lot of international cars around here, ask around, you'll most likely find someone going your way sooner or later, usually sooner, within 10-20 minutes. You can also hitchhike next to the gas station towards Panevežys if you find no cars going your way (north), still a very good bus stop also

More local traffic, but some people head from Rapla to Tartu, so I was counting on that (as I personally like to take this route with my car to Tartu). Walked from the centre of Rapla to here. A couple stopped and took me from here to all the way to Tartu with a quick stop in a graveyard in the middle of Estonia where they planned on stopping and I had no problem with that as I just wanted to be home by the evening.

This is so far my best, fastest and coolest experience in Estonia! So an undercover/secret service agent who was on a mission to drive towards Ida-Viru, took me, even though he was in a hurry, as they had just captured some criminals that needed to be interrogated there. He had done hitchhiking himself when he was younger and that’s why he had stopped. So he told me that he’d get me to Tartu very fast and that he will speed and he cannot be fined (going waaaay over the speed limit lol) as it’s a work reason, though he was in a normal civilian car (we got to Tartu in less than 45 min instead of an hour). I won’t and can’t get into details but he told me lots about his previous work in the police, chasing criminals, those high-speed chases, loopholes in the law etc. He obviously wasn’t allowed to give me any information on his current job though I tried my best to feed my curiosity. I really felt like I was in an action movie, so I truly loved this experience in my home country with this lovely man working for the safety of our nation! 😎

Welcome to Hiiumaa, the best area for hitching in the whole Estonia in my experience, here go a bit further down from the bus stops, there's 2 lanes for a long time and just wait until a ferry comes, you'll most likely get a ride but be specific where you wanna go, wait time; whenever the next ferry comes

Don't get fooled by the name, but actually it's a mainhub with cars going both directions to Riga or to Estonia, more likely towards Estonia since all the locals from Pärnu county buy their alcohol from here, wait time 20 minutes, good til 10pm

Got there from the city centre of Firenze. Took the Regionale 18664 and got off at Pratignone. Didn't buy a ticket although it's not much, 3-4 euros. Then it's a 20min walk from the train stop to the gas station. Italians are really sceptical and most don't speak english as it is the case in most of Italy. Fortunately we got a ride from a Czech family to Brno. Hitching back to Estonia.

Great spot. Trying to hitch on the bus stop before the traffic lights was pointless, but once we went to the other side of the traffic lights, it only took us about 20 minutes to get an awesome ride all the way to Tartu, Estonia.

Someone working for the Valmiera municipality dropped me there. There is an intercity bus stop direction Valka. There wasn't so much traffic so taking the bus could be a last solution. It's like 2 € but it is very slow (more than 1 hour for less than 50 km) and you are dropped at some kilometers from Valga in Estonia.
