basically that’s the spot for the ferry to talinn i have tried to find a boat before with asking marinas but mostly in the time that i got it was not doable, 100%better with ferry it cost around 40 so a week of waiting will have cost me the same plus it’s around 20h to 1 day of sailing and u need to have good skills, soooooo you can try but ferry could be very useful if u got like 2 days in helsinki before talinn good luck 👍🏼

totally agree, perfect spot to helsinki from tampere lots of cars and plenty of space to stop place yourself before the bus station good luck then :) (kebab in the other way is really good btw)

100% agree with the others, i got taken in almost 1 car to jyvaskyla :)) the bus stop is awesome, plenty of traffic and full of space to stop all of them go south so probably the best spot under oulu 😺 good luck !

really good spot to go south someone drop at the roundabout at liminka! (easier to get to jyvaskyla) fully recommend it bc full of spaces to stop, lots of traffic and plenty of cars (even on a sunday - august) good luck it’ll work😊

totally agree with the guy before, perfect spot for rovaniemi got took in 3 cars on a friday morning!! fully recommend it (even if it’s a bit far from the center) - sleep on the shelter before that’s perfect good luck there are full of space to stop and cars so it’ll work 100% 😌

I had an interesting time standing here late in the evening. Has ton of space to stop but not the best visibility because there is a hill in front so it blocks a view but if you stand at the end of bus stop there should be enough time for driver to decide. But either way i got offer to pay 100 euros for two boys to take me to helsinki even tho they are going there and grind never stops for them. But then i laughed and declined. In 5 minutes arrived a romanian guy going back to romania from nordkapp. And he was planning to go on ferry to tallinn which i needed also in the morning so we agreed to sleep in one of parking spots and go together to the ferry. But then I eoke up and he wasnt there so I had to go by public transport because i already had a ticket :((( but it was fun journey. He was shouting more than talking re

Its not the best spot but you can make it work. Drivers can think there is no place to stop by the road even tho its flat and good there but there is a lot of grass (google has old images). But drivers drive slow but not everyone would stop because there is trucks constantly coming from behind. Got a fast ride to Joutsa.

I waited this only because I was ambitious and tried to get a straight ride to Helsinki so declined three offers to get to Jyvaskyla but took a fourth. And the lady took me even past the town to get started forward much easier. Good place slow traffic but a bit akward for drivers because they are turning but its fine there is plenty of space.

For direction south it was pretty shit. Asked for an hour noone took me. Most of the people went north and those who went south couldnt or didnt want to take me. So i stood for a bit at the crossroads didnt like it that much so came back to gas station and the guy just took me almost to jyvaskyla because he saw me standing on the crossroads. But surely there shoudl be more drivers going south???

I would say its amazing spot because cars drive so slow and there is a lot of space to stop. But i was trying to get to Oulu early at morning like 8. So ig there wasnt a lot of shopper going back to Finland but eventually one lady took me.

Probably it was super lucky but the first person we asked at the gas station if they are going north they took us to the swedish border. Exactly where we needed. Crazy luck. But a busy gas station but i think its more for the traffic towards north.

We waited a lot because it was quite late in the evening around 22 so very low traffic but just before giving up at 23 we got a ride to Palokka Abc which was amazing way to strat tomorrow towards Oulu. Big bus stop. Cars go slower a bit and good visibility.

The speeds are high and traffic was pretty low in the evening but drivers see you for a while so its fine. A lot of space to stop.

We tried asking in the gas station but noone was going towards Jyvaskyla. Then we switched to this spot on the ramp. Its not a bad ramp. After 30 mins waiting there we got a ride to a place the road splits towards Jyvaskyla. Maybe it was evening thats why it wasnt great. But probably just didnt need to expect rode straight to Jyvaskyla

We tried for an hour with a sing Jyvaskyla but noone stoped and then we tried with Lahti and we got a ride in 5 mins. Not a bad spot. But cars dont really stop. The blocking of the buses werent that bad. Also ofc you can turn on the lights by pressing crossing button but i dont think its fair for drivers.

Normally a small village, Kaustinen balloons from 4k to over 50k during the week-long folk music festival. As a result, I had no trouble in finding a ride all the way tn Helsinki in under 5 minutes.

definitely not a really good spot if u try to go north like finland recommend to find a cars that can get u to the next gas station (like just hitchhike with no sign and ask for the next gas station) good luck luleå is a bit hard to leave 🫡

Do you want to go to Finland and have experience of the lifetime? If yes, this is a place for you. Stand by the gate to the pier, there is only one and every boat owner need to come through it. Now just ask if somebody is going to Finland and maybe you will be lucky as I was. Few tips: Good weather helps On Friday and weekend plenty of people are going to Finland and back Summer is prime time Looking clean is useful Absolutely majority of boat owners don't wake up before 10 am. Have your ID/ passport ready.

Male, Sunday evening in summer, going south to Sweden. Mostly local traffic, but this is a place where people pass from Norway/Finland driving down to Sweden. Also a gasstation and a store nearby. Didn't need to camp because an elderly couple took me late in the evening to Sweden, but I think there is plenty of opportunities to camp in the forest.

Hitchhiking to Chisinau, Moldova. Perfect spot to Moldova. Write 'Chisinau' to your sign and just wait here👍 I got a ride pretty close to the capital and the border crossing went easily: they just asked one question about declaration. I'm from Finland so I don't know if that has something to do with it. Actually one of my friends had a problem at the border and he recommended to book a hostel or have some proof that you're really staying in Moldova, so I did that just in case. Fast traffic, some space for cars to stop. Luckily I got a ride with a local man working in Finland heading back home to Kuressaare and he had no problem taking me all the way to Roomassaare sadam to catch a ferry across to Abruka. He even showed me around the city a bit with his car. I managed to arrive to the harbour two hours ahead of my time, but luckily the captain accepted my story of hitchhiking here and took me across with the earlier ferry.

Great spot, both by the road as well as asking around in this parking lot, lots of trucks and mainly getting fuel or food, got a ride offer to Finland within 10 minutes and within 40 minutes got truck going a long distance to south, probably best spot for long distance rides anywhere around here

A wise man once said these words about hitchhiking which have been ringing in my head ever since: "It is not popular in Finland." Anyways, it's technically a nice spot with loads of space for cars to pull over, many of which turn west onto the highway. Maybe you'll have more luck than we did.

Direction: Finland. I stood in the middle of the 2 ramps on the gravel and got a ride very quickly. Amazing views too.

After more than 3 hours I accepted the first ride that took me somewhere between Lakselv and Karasjok. Don't be like me! Only accept rides to at least Karasjok. There is nothing in between. After 2 more hours in the middle of nowhere I hitched a ride back north, and took the route Alta->Kautokeino->Finland Disclaimer: it was a sunday, so you might be more lucky on a weekday.

Towards Finland. Speed limit is 110 but you are visable from a good distance. There's a bus stop, so place to stop for drivers and shelter for you. More traffic than the onramp near the town

Towards Finland. In theory it should be a good spot. In practice there was hardly any traffic. After 1,5 hours I walked to the next onramp (15min walk) and got a ride in 15 mins.

Really hard spot!!!! But one truck give me a 2 day ride to Lahti. Hill, double closing line high curb. I thought I would never get out of here. Yet in less than 30 minutes I was already on my way to Finland. Incredible! Thank you P!

Great spot, a lot of Finns coming back from Sweden with snuff. Cars go cca 30kmh, plenty of time to decide if they wanna take you. Got a ride to Rovaniemi Santa Claus village in 30 minutes, dont forget to change your clock one hour forward once you arrive in Finland :)

Not the best spot to get in direction to Kautokeino, all cars ride to the Nordkapp and people who drove in the direction more to the west (Kautokeino) didn't stop and don't understand hitchhiking. One guy from Switzerland saved us after 6 hours, he took us out of this Saami shithole back to Finland. However some people were offering us to ride with them to the north (Nordkapp) or Alta. - One of the worst experience. At least stuff members on the gas station were nice and helpful. More than half of the cars were German Caravans or Norwegian in Teslas riding alone and no one stops, even during heavy rain, the evening in 8°C and same in the morning.

Lot of cars from Norway which were shopping in the Finland, but no one stops, saved us man from sweden during heavy rain.

Lot of cars from Finland or Estonia. Great spot to get a ride to Tallin. Lower traffic but no trucks, only cars.
