A great spot for Bastia, space to pull over, everybody is going there. Cars are slow from the roundabout.

Didn't get a ride on a saturday morning. Tried several signs including "Reims" and "hors de la ville". Lots of traffic though and cars can stop on the parking area.

Waited with "Reims" sign. Cars can pull over safely. Some go rather fast but visibility is good. Not the prettiest spot. Got a ride to Aire de Ferrières.

This isn't really a spot, but I was walking here with a sign that said "Bastia," and a nice Romanian guy pulled over and got me all the way north.

After an hour, I gave up on this spot. There is a decent place to pull over, but cars are pretty fast, and you can be seen at the last second. Maybe I was just unlucky, but after that I decided to walk for a bit, and after around a kilometer I got a ride near Bastia.

A very good place to go north, there is a lot of space to pull over, and a lot of traffic. Unfortunately, due to the language barrier, I got into a car that dropped me off at a bad spot, but his one is good, just make sure you know where the people are taking you.

I stood here with a sign that said "Porto Vecchio, and got a ride within a few minutes. This is the best place to leave Bonifacio, in my opinion. There are a ton of cars, and they are pretty slow and even some place to pull over.

Got a ride to the Pont d'Arc, but in summer there you have a free bus to the Pont d'Arc Then went to St Martin d'Ardèche but there are really few cars and only tourists cars on this road

People were nice but no one really wanted to take us. At some point we were lucky to find someone who was on his way to the airport. He was so nice to drive a bit further to „Aire de Vémars Est“ from where you find maaanyyy cars that go to belgium and the netherlands :)

A guy let us out here and before he even left we found our next ride. There are many cars from belgium and netherlands!!!

Terrible spot, no one stopped for any city/direction. We tried for hours to get a ride and failed. The people just make funny faces and drive on. No good place to take shelter from rain/wind there.

Sweet spot but didn't got me too far since many people were going to Llivia and i was going to France

Got here 8am on a Sunday. Not much traffic. Stops with a sign for 30mins, then had a wash and sat outside cafe for a while resting with sign. Back to exit with sign and picked up in 15 minutes from a couple Romanians on the way to France

Hitchhiked here many times towards Ghent, France or the seaside. Cars drive slowly and can easily pullover on the hard shoulders. Waited mostly 5 tot 10 minutes.

Quite big gas station. Many People going to France.

4 hours for a lift into France. Long ol wait but idk wheres a better spot for getting across. Done in July

Slow station on a Monday morning, Thumbed for a bit and then asked someone and the first person we asked was going into France so we took the ride. One woman in a wheelchair and one man. The cleaning staff were very rude but the gas station staff were great.

Too easy 😂😂 I just exited from my previous driver car, wrote my destination on my velleda when a 35 yo women took me directly to Montpellier. There were policeman near, I was lucky to be picked beefore they saw me (it is illegal to hitchhike at a toll station in France).

I got picked up be a Spanish couple. They saw me and asked if I needed a lift to France (always have the sign in the Hand) and I told them yes. I went really fast so it's a good starting spot for the Journey.

good spot for going further south, we wanted specifically to go to colmar so got a short ride until first turn to france.

tried to get to colmar. i thought is good in theory but didnt work out. after two hours a guy came up to us and said to go further away. immediatly after another one said the opposite, to go towards city center. we ended up catching a ride from here 48.011931, 7.806588 but wrong direction. it was our mistake, we wrote "france" and started riding towards strassburg.

Really hot day and lack of sleep. Took the ride to Maidstone (aiming for France/Belg) I wanted to avoid :-D Some space at the end to stop - it's not perfect, but technically cars could stop a little after the exit too but the pull off is not so wide. A lorry did stop saying he was going on the channel tunnel but that it was paid (not true...he was blocking traffic though so I didn't have time to discuss with him...). Look out for Ken - the guy from Singapore who's been living on the services for several months. Quite the character. Won't accept anything of help...

first car I asked (belgian number sign) took me to france, water bottle was expensive (1,9€) (tap water in this region is usually quite chlorinated), toilet is free and ok

nice spot to get into France (Bayonne)

There is an important flow of cars at this spot. I was waiting with a sign "FRANCE / FRANKREICH" but it wasn't enough... A french advice me to go towards the cross road between L107 and highway, by hoping finding a french car from the airport of Saarbrücken (cheapest fly). By walking there with the thumb up, I've found someone that have accepted to help me and brought me to the highway althought it wasn't his way.

This is a great spot to go to Paris indeed, but I made a mistake. I accept a car to Saarbrücken by thinking there would be an other "rastplatz", but there is NO. I should have waited more to find someone to FRANCE (it was my big mistake of the day that took me 3 hours...)

Objective : Bukhara. Indeed very good spot. I was offered a melon 🍈 and then a redhead teenager talked to me. At this moment a bus stopped. I was like : naaah I don't want to pay. I then explained in ouzbek than I travel without money from France and the bus manager said "OK LET'S GO". Made a lot of friends in the bus ! All nice people. Was also offered launch. Deo Gratias!

I started at 9 till 11 on a Wednesday. Goal: Mulhouse. Maybe a bad time for hitchhiking. I tried to go to the truck parking area 200 m away, but border control sent me back. Now I’ve decided to cross the border on foot and start hitchhiking in France.

Nobody took us towards „Basel/France“ locals told us this is actually a bad spot because it’s very stressful and drivers have to switch to the lane away from the walkway to get even on the highway. We are now heading towards „Emmenbrücke, Sprengi“ with the bus as it’s less traffic and most people will go in the direction of Basel.

Lots of cars passing but mostly locals. We tried to get a hike to San Sebastian or furthere towards France and had N-240 -> FRANCE written on our sign but a lot of people pointed to the right side, as if we had to go there to go our direction, even if Maps was leading us this way. Would it only recommend If you are fine with going only few kilometers. Or for France maybe try on the right lane to the highway
