Don’t go there if you want to go east, waited 3 hours with an A4 sign we had to give up

A lot of space to park. Problem : it was a Sunday morning around 8, might have been too early. I finally had a car to Liffré. Was trying to go to Aire du Mont St Michel and then Lille. I did it, but getting out of the city is hard.

Not a great spot on a Sunday morning but at least I was in the good direction. A very few car were going towards Avranches, but I finally found a car for Fougères.

Got a ride to Avranches in 10mn

Great spot. Just ask to the people, some are going west and some east, even some of them north Normandy to Granville. I waited for 45mn and then found two cars at the same time for Lille. I had a sign Rouen.

Not a very good spot, but without any battery of my phone, I just stood desperetaly there with a sign indicating "Selestat". After 15 minutes a driver took me even in the Vosges mountains.

Great place to get out of Paris to the West or South. You can be easily spotted by drivers near the entrance for employees.

Friday around noon, a lot of traffic to Paris

Spot pas si mal pour aller à Ploërmel, j'attends en général environ 20 minutes, j'entends qu'il y a plus de passage sur la sortie de néant-sur-yvel mais je n'ai j'amais testé

Most cars are going to Paris, but after 1 hour, I found a ride that took me close to Amiens. I had a sign 'NORD'

Stood at the exit direction Paris with a 'Reims' sign. Got picked up by a truck, that brought me to the service station before the roads to Paris and Reims split

While walking along the road to the service station a driver picked me up and drove me straight to the stations fence

Quite busy ramp Most traffic goes to Strasbourg though I finally got a ride with a delivery driver to central Metz and slept in a forest at the edge of the city

Can be a good spot, but mutch better when there is a bit of traffic since cars will be standing still allowing you to negociate. Just try to stay a bit incognito and not move around, i got spotted and kicked out when i started going around the lorries because i got impatient. And don't expect any sympathy from italian drivers.

Its a toll booth, so as always a great place to be as a hitchhiker (feels super safe). It is reachable by foot even if your driver leaves you on the highway exit just before like was my case

This is the best spot towards chamonix, but very little traffic going out of the city in the morning on weekdays, people mostly drive towards chamonix in weekends. I went to the speedbump at one point but after some time the border control came over and asked me to move further away so i recommend just staying at the round "no pedestrians" sign.

Was hitchhiking at the end of the gasstation for about ten minutes until a mother and her daughter picked me up. I was heading to the Netherlands and they happened to be going all the way to Dijon. I got lucky, so I don’t actually know if it is a good spot for heading north.

This place is maddness! No car is going to France.Saarbucken. I waited here so long that I statred checking trains. Luckly one man took me to the gas station on the higthawy.

A really good spot to get to France or Belgium

it's SUPER great for germany(Passau). not my first time here. but bad for salzburg/graz :( got taken by a truck driver heading to France, decided to change gas stations.

Very good spot to go ouest (ausbourg, Ulm…) with luck we had a direct ride to Strasbourg, in France

On trouve facilement ici pour la France, nous avons été jusqu’à Lyon

Beaucoup d’italiens qui vont Turin. Nous avons finalement réussi à trouver Antonio qui a accepté de faire un détour pour nous déposer à l’autogrill suivant en direction de la France

Nous avons attendus 120 minutes pour trouver une voiture pour la france ou au moins un peu apres Turin. Finalement nous sommes sortis de la station à pied pour dormir dans la ville voisine

Service station with lots and lots of truck where you can even grab a coffee on the go I was holding a sign with "France" written on it and I tried both asking to the truck drivers and standing thumbs-up on the exit. Sadly, most of the truck drivers were going back to Turin. I got lucky to find a really kind polish driver that was going all the way to Troyes. My goal was to reach Lyon so he dropped me in a service area just outside the city

Follow the instruction other people wrote in order to reach this spot. Personally, I bought a €2,6 train ticket from Turin to Alpignano then walked for 20 minutes I was holding a sign with "France" written on it and the second person I asked got me a lift to Susa Autoporto, where he was heading to to work. It probably helped that we were both Italians but I will forever remember this as my first ever hitchhiking lift and I can only thank this community for the help

Biggest parking for trucks I've ever seen, maybe 200-300 of them. Every single one was going to France or Spain so it was s perfect spot to catch someone that direction. But we were going further into Italy There was mostly traffic from trucks but also a few cars going through. We've been waiting there for 2 hours asking around and caught a 300km ride somewhere around 23:00 by a guy that drove a Porsche there for some rich kids from Monaco For me the best spot in that neighborhood to go hop on the highway

Been left there by Italians living in the area that told us many France people go to this station because the gasoline is cheap. And they were right, foreigners were there, but like maybe 5 cars per hour around 15:00. Eventually after an hour guy took us to France but we had to pay. We were 2 guys

In a normal country for hitchiking it would be a perfect spot. But in Spain we waited 3 hours till some Italian guys took us. My mate was even talking Spanish and asking people around the gas station but everyone seemed to be afraid to take hitchikers. Been asking around gas station, staying with a sign on a bus stop near gas station and also trying to get someone on the entrance to highway and not much luck. Police came and said that we got to leave the highway's entrance. A much more traffic to Barcelona though so maybe it would be better and we were trying to go to France

a nice old lady was quite surprised to see an American tramp in France

perfect spot to go towards Luxembourg/France from Liège. We waited only 5min for a ride to a rest area :))

Good spot for going to France!! We had a dog and Two big backpacks. And a older couple took us to Bordeaux and they were ready to take us all the way to Paris! Ask people and write a sign.!

went from here across the border to france with a5 - south sign. way better spot then across the highway.

The spot is alright, with a lot of space for cars to stop. Iwas a bit afraid for my first hitchhiking experience in Spain as I read that it would be significantly more difficult than in France. I was on my way to a village close to Girona which is a bit of an awkward way from Puigcerda so I wrote Ripoll and Vic on my cardboard. Eventually someone stopped and said he would take me to the place where the road to Ripoll starts. After talking a bit it turned out he would be going all the way to Girona in the afternoon after having lunch with his wife. I had to kill a few hours but was very lucky with my direct ride.

One person, mid day on thursday. I asked a guy from France and he took me near the border. People seemed quite friendly

Spot alright, rather quiet though on a Thursday morning. I had a sign saying Mons, France and asked the people that were there. In the end an older lady stopped and brought me to a petrol station about 100 km before Paris.
