I wanted to go to Heidelberg. It was already dark and it was Saturday... A group of several polish truck drivers were sleeping there until Monday, going back to Poland. Asked around for about 1.5 hours, almost no traffic, so I decided to settle for a ride to Karlsruhe and catching a train to Heidelberg. The spot should be good, but my timing and luck were bad.

I had a sign saying "Basel". I wanted to go to the Pratteln service station to stay on the swiss A2 highway. Got picked up by a guy driving to Brugg. He said he was going through Basel, so I took the ride, but actually he went through Lörach. Be aware that there are two entries into Switzerland! Make sure the guy is going the way you want.

Really good spot. I had sign "PRAG". Wednesday morning around 9.

Great spot to go north. It takes time to get there from the center.

Been here many times pretty good spot, going east towards Erfurt. Also great for going north direction Kassel/ Hamburg

Wouldn’t recommend this place not a lot of traffic. Been there a couple of times and the last time I left by train to the next gas station, just 20min by train. Way better place

This is a nice traffic light on an intersection - gives you plenty of time, probably around 1 minute or more. You can actually walk through the cars and people will often open their windows to ask where you're going. I wanted to go south to Stuttgart and I thought this would get me to the A5. I was wrong. Most people coming through here are going to Mannheim. It's a good spot if you're going in that direction, otherwise you should find another one. To go south like me, try the Speyerer Strasse in Kirchheim.

I initially stood by another traffic light farther north with a sign, and then I walked to this traffic light because it stays red for much longer, giving you time to walk around and actually get in a car without disturbing traffic. I had a sign saying "Stuttgart" and eventually a woman waved at me from the passenger's seat. They took me straight to Stuttgart-Messe.

It's just after an intersection with LOTS of traffic funneling in the north direction. You can talk to the drivers at the station, or you can stand at the entrance with a sign/thumb. I got my ride by asking a driver directly, and I know he would otherwise not have taken me because he drove right past me into the gas station. He was driving to Grünstadt, but he actually took a detour to drop me directly at my destination, Heidelberg!

Worst spot I could imagine. There is a gas station and Mc Donalds, but dead place and only local cars driving by. I got away by standing at this really dangerous triangle, no place to stop. Getting there was risky aswell, there was no footpath or traffic lights at all. I also asked people at the gas station and Mcdonalds, but I cant recommend.

Got a ride with the second car I asked. Not a lot of cars at around 10:00 in the morning on a friday. Lots of polish car signs and trucks, the people I asked were heading towards Karlsruhe and Ulm.

I was there on a Friday 8:00 in the morning. Not a lot going on, but I got a ride with the first person I asked. (I‘m a young german woman)

Great spot to get onto the A8 towards Munich or the A7 heading north

Good spot, i got a ride to Berlin. the bus station is a very nice help because the cars can stop there. i had a sign "BERLIN" with me

a lovely women dropped me off near Frankfurt. This spot is very great. Had a sign with me "FRANKFURT"

Many cars going. Not the best space to stop but ok.

We were preparing to wait for a long time. But it only took 15 minutes until a nice Ukraine guy picked us up.

There is traffic going to Genk, the Netherlands or Germany. Also some UK plates.

Waiting without a sign for a ride to the border with another hitchhiker from Germany. After a while Albanian couple stopped not speaking a single word in English and took us to Honi i Hotit

Always a good place towards Oldenzaal or to nearby servicestation on A1 (direction Germany) both with sign Oldenzaal. Hard shoulder for cars to stop. Waiting time during day most times 10-30 min.

I agree with the latest review, it is entirely better to directly ask drivers in Germany (and elsewhere for that matter). Wasn’t having a lot of luck but by looking at the license plates I found a direct car to Bremen! Very sometimes the license plates are good indicators here in Germany :) I must’ve taken around 20 minutes before finding that ride

I asked the first person if he could take me to Germany. He was super kind (a croatian man) and he gave me a great ride to Rosenheim

Good spot to go Paris or Strasbourg, harder for Germany but it can be done.

Good visible spot, cars can stop next to the road. Entrance to highways towards Germany and France. Lots of local trafic & French and German cars. But no luck with sign Freiburg. Finaly got a lift to Weil border gasstation.

I waited two hours but it was a low traffic day and eventually there was some works on the gas station. Definitely the best place to go west ! Got a ride to Leipzig. If you really want to go to Germany it's completely doable there's a lot of Germans. Actually more than Austrians haha. But you have to talk to them. I waited almost two hours at the exit of the gas station then I decided to talk directly to the gas station and I was offered also a ride by a bus driver for free to Graz at the same moment I asked Hungarian couple with a dutch plate, they were going at the North of Holland but we agree to let them drop me at Leipzig. We somehow ended up here trying to go towards Germany. Traffic is low and there isn't really much stopping space. Avoid.

A lot of local traffic but also people going to Germany - got a ride to the Ellwanger Berge station after an hour

Lot of passing cars, lots of belges and germans. I just wanted to go to Lilles and found easily a car. I didn't want to go there at first but we got a bit of a miscomprehension at Vemars so I stopped there and I'm thinking of using this spot again if I ever want to speedrun to germany and further north lol.

Got a ride to Salzburg after two hours...but it was a public holiday in Germany so a lot of families with no room in cars.

Expect a lot of elderly people that don't want to talk. We were two, first we asked around the shops which didn't work, then just thumb up at the stop sign after the parking. A guy travelling from Malaga to Germany took us.

Nice spot, alot of cars going to Germany, harder to get too, you need to go through a field and climb over a small fence. We got a ride to Schwandorf.

I normally avoid Peages, but I didnt have an other choice. I got picked up by a Bus driver who brought me 2 Hours in the direction of Lyon. He drove to Marseille, so I could have went Germany-Marseille in one day so great spot, maybe it was just luck.
