Got a ride to Nuremberg after 30 mins. By far the best spot to leave the Rhein-Neckar area in direction south and east. Take S9 from Mannheim and walk to the spot. The gate is open

Wanted to go North to Lubeck. Not easy to find cars by asking people at gas station or rest area. Decided to go at exit of gas station, entrance of hyway with a sign. Found a really kind girl who pick us up directly to Lubeck city center. 2 men on sunday lunch time.

We where 2 men on the grass between the roads which lead at the hyway entrance. Some of the cars where going fast, despite on the other road they start from a traffic light where they can sea you easily. Found a kind man who took us to Hamburg. Recommand to go a little bit down on the road, where the cars go less fast. A sign is mandatory.

Wanted to go North. Waited with a sign at the entrance of gas station. On sunday, not many cars with double H on plate (Hamburgs cars). Lots of taxis and ubers from airport. A kind man drop us of few meters away, at the entrance of hyway 352, under the sign Hamburg.

Awful spot. Wanted to go to the next gas station (Garbsen) at 5pm on saturday. 2 men. A lot of cars going east with PL plates. No one took us when going to speak to them. Finally decided to go to the exit of the station with a sign. A kind family took us to the destination. Thnx !

Pretty nice spot, hitchhiked as a couple and got lift pretty fast to Hamburg

all the cars go through isny so the chances are high and with good wether it’s a really nice spot to wait. also there is a busstation so the cars can slow down and stop

many cars going to obersdorf and only some further to lindau,… it’s better to stand more in the front so the cars can stop before they turn right

Fabulous spot for going towards UK, Belgium, Paris. One of my favourite petrol stations in Europe.

Really good spot, lots of truck drivers whom you can ask around. I wanted to go to Prague but ended up catching a ride to Dresden first.

People are friendly and there is ample space for them to stop on the pedestrian walkway. Got a ride within 10 minutes to Nürnberg.

Decent spot for going south but don’t come here if you are going East towards Nürnberg.

Not the best spot for going out of the city, most cars going into city centre. Road is quite heavily frequented though and there are places to stop so not the worst spot either. Managed to get a ride to the next city within 10-15 mins.

Small park and ride space. I. The afternoon a lot of workers go to Kehl or Strassburg. This really easy to get a hitch.

Lot of cars but a lot of them going very fast and the bus stop for stopping is quit short. Our driver circled back to pick us up because of the traffic. With patience it will eventually work because of the volume. Went south

Great spot to go to Liege and direction Germany. A man and his girlfriend took us (me my girlfriend and out dog+2 backpacks) to Liege!!

Really good spot to get a ride far into Germany. Got a ride till Stuttgart airport where we took the s Bahn to the city.

Awesome spot... BUT First of all, it's def the best spot on this Reststation i you don't want to ask around (for asking around it's better to go closer to Landzeit). Best for thumbing the ride because here the two roads meet and go to the highway, both from rest station and the local road. It's easy to switch between these two, as from both ways there is reasonable amount of traffic. During my 1h 40mins of wait :') about 10 cars stopped, most of them going to Germany (via Passau) or just in the close area (Wels, Sattledt, etc.). I was heading to Salzburg and getting this direction was a bit challenging, but not impossible! (I even sadly rejected one car going to Gmunden, as I could'nt properly understand the guy's German accent, realised way too late that he could have taken me)

I waited only 6 minutes (solo guy, no sign, Saturday morning) and during that time 2 cars stopped. I would call that a success :D I was going to Salzburg direction. It's better to head just to Linz as there is a great hitchspot in Ansfelden, where I continued. Many cars continue from Linz to Germany (via Passau), that's why I think it's a bit more complicated to seek for direct ride to Salzburg from here.

I was going to Sofia after crossing the border and after waiting 4 hours got no ride. I was trying to hitchhike in the part for trucks, but border police took me back to the border and forced to hitchhike on the part for passenger cars which were mostly full and going straight to Germany with whole families on board. You should definitely get a ride on the Turkish side, where it’s rather easy

We (2 Persons) wanted to go to the west, but people also take this road to move to the south or to Germany. After 1,5h from 19:30 to 21:00 and not many cars we camped in the forest nearby (beautiful place) and tried the day after. Got a ride to Mulhouse finally - better than nothing.

We got sent here by ASFiNAG (highway services in AT) after unsuccessfully going to hitchhike at the exit from the roundabout (which is already a highway) and after some waiting time they drove around again and gave us a wave and a thumbs up - so this spot is approved 😅👍🏼 It is possible to stop cars going from all directions, enough space on the roadside to stand and to pull over. A bit tricky if you are going to SLO/KL, because the roundabout lanes are the 2nd and 3rd.. if going direction Germany, then it's great, it's the 1st lane closest to you. -2 guys, sign KL, Saturday afternoon

Most people were going to Paris, but I got extremely lucky and very soon found a couple taking me all the way to Düsseldorf, Germany! I arrived there when it was already dark so it was a plus that you can technically reach Orleans by public transport if you don’t have a tent nor want to spend the night outside. Also there is probably more traffic there in summer or during the day with people going further than Paris

in the early morning it's mostly workers going to the nearby places, also to orange, however i had to remain on the highway and was waiting for a ride that could drop me on a rest area. eventually i got a lift to lyon and on the way there the trucker told me he'd be going as far as germany. i ended up spending the entire shift with him :) obrigado, marcelo

a romanian trucker offered me a lift. he just started his shift and would have taken me all the way to italy, however i decided to avoid it and headed to slovenia over germany, hence he dropped me on aire de ambrussum

This place is counterintuitive, or I just got lucky, but I was exhausted and in a not-so-great mood, so I desperately wanted to get out of Germany. So I got a sign saying BE, and it took just a couple of minutes to get a ride to the small town of Kelmis in Belgium.

A good spot towards Mariánské Lázně, not a great one towards Germany, though. Here are a few trucks, but I was not lucky with them.
