Locals are very friendly and will drive you to the next towns or ferry. Mind it was after the season. Might be different when it's full of tourists. 2 males

Staff is nice. It is a bit difficult to find a good spot that every car can see you

Got a Truck ride after waiting. Cars cannot stop that good but it is a traffic light

Everyone’s going to Greeceeee. Took 30 mins but got scooped up by the nicest Italian in an old convertible Mercedes and spent 2 days driving down the west coast.

Perfect spot for getting to Athens - can ask at petrol station or just have a sign

Shortest hitch of my life. Was walking the 4kms to the petrol station down the road and the first car that went past on the service road scooped me up and saved me 40mins of walking

We gave up after one evening and one morning of hitchhiking. Seems like a good spot but cars don’t stop. I guess it’s just Greece combined with bad luck. We took the bus from Chrysoupoli to Xanthi (4€ and every 2 hours)

Probably a good spot to go east but Hitchhiking in Greece is a nightmare. Cars go by slightly fast but could be worse. Got picked up by a nice guy who brought us to another spot 30 km away. Few people at gas station but mostly (nice) locals.

Took a series of rides to get from here to the Turkish border, worked well. However, I strongly recommend against taking the bus to Analipsi as others have said; I would recommend to take the 83 bus from Thessaloniki, and then there is a stop that is right next to the highway. From there, I would say just climb up onto the highway and stick your thumb out, then get a ride to this gas station/rest stop. The second bus (91A) to Analipsi does not run very often and will require you to go much further north than the highway, when you can just stop and get out right next to the highway instead.

Ferry is often free for pedestrians, but basically no traffic going south/greece in late september

Almost everyone here goes to Greece or is a local. 8 people catch here cars in like 10 minutes.

Great Spot, a lot of traffic in direction of greece. Recommend by the locals. We were there as a couple and got a ride to Kulata (Border). And we Had a sign with Sandanski

I stood pretty close to the ramp with a sign that had VELES written in the latin alphabet on it. A man stopped and was even able to bring me further than Veles, since I was trying to get to the greece border.

A german couple took me to the greece border in their camper van. I talked to them on the parking slot and asked for a ride. Thanks Nadine & Jan!

I was lucky to have a car to Albania here, there is no much cars but you can speak to people and I think it's better in Greece because they're afraid of hitchhiking. The two girl form the gas station are so nice, they offered me a bottle of water :)

Asking around definitely is the way to go in Greece. Had option for Serres and Kavala as well!

Border area has lots of spots, but as I remember, truck and bus/car traffic is separated. I waited near barracks-shops, but some people paid more attention to me than I needed ("wana buy something"). Car drove to Scopie and took me to the highway junction near Petrovec (my target was Greece).

One Macedonian took me here from the Serbian border, but I strongly not recommend this place if you are going to Greece. Cars are simply too fast here. Walk out to Petrovec.

I recommend this place. Truck driver takes me to his house and then we switch to his son's car until Greece border (thanks Oliver!). Spot has a lot of place, a shop, some benches, and grass. In my case, I take a bus from the Sub-Scopie town Petrovce to the village Katlanovo, then I walk 10-15 min in the direction of this gas station, but I have to find a hole in the net between Higthway and the local road.

Got dropped off here by a local saying I could walk to Greece, which was not true, so I had to wait for a guy to drive me to the other side. I was very lucky to be picked up by a very sweet German guy travelling all the way to Gernany, although I had a intention to go to Bulgaria, so we spent two days together in Greece and Samothrace, after which he dropped me off at a road going to Bulgaria.

propably got really lucky but an albanian guy took me all the way to veroia, maybe should've waited for a ride straight to where i needed to go (or geeting out at the border) because once i was in greece there were almost no cars and not a single good hitchhiking spot to the south on the way

Spot was not really good. Few cars. Cars go as fast as if they were on the German Autobahn. I had a big sign. Nobody stoped. Maybe I was a bit unlucky. After three hours I decided to take the bus for three Euro to the Greece border (in the village) the people are very friendly and know when the bus arrives + there is icecream;)

Solid spot as there are lots of tourists going back to Athens from their daytrips to Delphi. I ended up finding a ride with an Albanian living in Greece who was going to Athens to visit his mother in the hospital in Athens.

I waited a good 45 minutes here until finally I found a ride to the intersection to Delphi after Itea with an American father and son who live in Greece.

I got pickep up super fast by some guys in a van, they were going to Greece to so it was super convenient, they invite me to dinner and even paid a hotel for me in the destination. I got so lucky
