Great place, drivers are going by slow and have an opportunity to stop. A lot of people going to Thessaloniki. I got a ride to the center of the city

Not a lot of traffic, but I got a ride to the border crossing at Niki relatively fast. I was able to walk through the crossing to North Macedonia easily. Just go up to the booth directly

It is a bit difficult to get there. Not evey comfortable. But it is possible to get a ride towards North Macedonia. Do use a sign. I was advised to use Skopje instead of NMK

I arrived via train then walked up North towards Litochoro. I got very lucky as someone recognised me from the train. They brought me straight to the trailhead. We passed by two other hitchhikers who did not get picked up. I don't know if you can call it a good spot, there's not much traffic. Maybe it was just luck. Probably best to ask around at the station if you time it right.

A lot of cars drive here, and thanks to the traffic lights, everyone has plenty of time. But despite a sign (direction Larisa) and a smile, no one took me with them

Saturday at 9.00 really Low Traffic. Found da Ride that took us 5 minutes

Almost got a fine for hitchhiking here. And people were mostly going towards Athens, I was trying to reach Trikala… DO NOT RECOMMEND Avoid this city

Ride to Thessaloniki

Had to wait a little bit, I walked across the border from Macedonia, but eventually got picked up

Good spot at the gas station to get north, everyone was quite friendly

Not the best spot for cars to stop, we were heading towards Preveza and got a ride until Missolonghi after waiting for some time

There is some place for cars to stop, good spot for going Greece, but i dont suggest, i did mistake with it.

Stood with a sign saying SRB, an Estonian guy driving to Greece took me all the way to Novi Sad and gave me 20€ and an apple

Many cars passing by, nobody stopped for hours. One guy stopped and wanted to give me 50€ for the bus. Then a local guy who saw me 1,5h earlier stopped and took me even though he didn't even needed to go my direction. Friendly people in Greece but they just don't get the concept of hitchhiking.

If you're heading towards Sofia/Istanbul, this is an average spot for hitchhiking; more drivers head towards Greece/Macedonia. We tried to hitchhike at a gas station for 2.5 hours, then moved directly onto the highway. After 45 minutes, a driver heading to Pirot stopped us. I don't know if we were unlucky or if it's actually a bad spot. It's hard to say. (Perhaps we should ask the drivers at the Nais Hotel on the other side.) Overall, it's a good place for a wild camping trip – there's a quiet meadow behind the fence, and if you need one, there's a shop and a toilet.

Was given a lift by two Albanian dudes heading toward Greece.

Perfect, some greek/Albanians took me, they were going in vacation in Greece from Sweden. Lots of nice and no so nice people here !

We have up after two hours and walked back to the North Macedonia-Greece border And hitched from there.

Very nice woman, hitchhiking in Greece seems hard though

Waited with a sign Nis, right on the highway just after the barriers (I saw two policemen looking guys hitch the same way). Hungarian driver going to Greece took me, Lots of traffic and no problem for car to stop directly on the road since the ones behind have to stop for the toll barrier anyway. Took bus 493 from Sava Centar in Beograd to get there, public transport is free (for now).

I don't like hitchhiking on the highway, but there's literally no other way I could find out of Florina deeper into Greece. Got a ride pretty quickly. There's a place to stop for brave drivers, traffic doesn't go very fast and drivers see you from far away

A guy and a girl, it was raining. We had a sign that said "Patras". An albanian guy brought us to the border with Greece. Cars go slow and there is space to stop :)

Perfect place to leave from Skopje towards Greece. It is a bit tricky to get there with the Skopje local bus - only go from the Skopje central bus station, do NOT try other bus stops because it is a fucking chaos. If you get to the Petrovec toll gate, everybody is going the right direction and it is fairly easy to get a ride.

Many cars stopped. The people are very nice. We had a car directly for Greece.

Caught a ride halfway to Patras. Greece can be tough, but with some patience you'll get there. Good luck.

The crossroad seemed like a good spot, although not many cars were going north. Also got advice from a van driver to not be close to the highway gates for a police might fine me, so I moved further to the island of the crossroad and later indeed police showed up and gave me warning not to be close to the gates. There was cafe near where lady gave me free bananas and could use a toilet for free (kinda jackpot in greece). There was no shade on the street so i had to take breaks.

The spot is great (great visibility and place to stop), but I ended up waiting for quite some time to find a ride to Thessaloniki. When asking around, I even talked with a man my age who said he was going to Thessaloniki, but "refused to take strangers into [his] car because of all the problems with imigrants". Funnily enough, I was picked up by an Albanian who emigrated to Greece a few minutes later.

Decent enough spot. Cars go slowly and it's close to the highway. The roundabout has two lanes, with most cars only using the inner one, leaving the external lane empty for people to stop. There wasn't much traffic though (December 2024). I ended up waiting for 2 hours with no luck (going south towards Greece). I ended up taking a bus for 440MKD since it was already dark.
