Direction Galway, Cavan or Dublin. Mostly westbound traffic but I signed for Dublin and got picked up quickly enough even on a wet day.

A great spot to leave for Kerry. There’s a lane that turns left into a car dealership that drivers can stop on

Irish luck is once again on my side, just pulled out my fresh new sign and a car pulls right up. Good little lift into Rosscahill.

Was skeptical about this spot at first, from a distance it didn’t look like there was much space to stop. Lo and behold, I walked over the road and within 30 seconds I got picked up. Had a lovely journey to the outskirts of Galway with a young catholic lad called Tommy (legend), we enjoyed some classic rock tunes and some good chat. 10/10 would recommend.
Time for a Guinness I reckon.

From here you can catch cars leaving the petrol station and they can pull into the hotels driveway. Straight to the best city in Ireland

There’s two driveways for drivers to pull into. If the space isn’t big enough the people are certainly nice enough. Got to Galway from here

The hostel is being used for refugees so the car park is blocked off. Creating two decent stopping spots, as well as the bus stop further up. Great spots to hitchhike at, got all the way to Galway

There’s a set of light here cars may have to stop at. There’s also roadside parking right here so a car can pull in. Perfect road to get to Derry. My lift was such a lovely bloke, made me very happy to be hitchhiking in Ireland

While heading to Ireland, a family heading home from Poland took me with them for a night in their van and even offered me a night in their guest room.

Loads of Trucks! I was heading to Ireland, I just talked to every truck driver chilling at the parking place. Most of them were going Far south. (London even Dover) Eventually an Irish trucker took me all the way to Dublin, He even payed the boat ticket for me.

If you want to reach Ireland by boat, here is the ferry to cork ! Rosko/Roscoff is an easy city to reach by thumb, but people pay the ferry by person and not by cars. If you're in Brittany, it's still the best option and you can buy tickets for less than 70euros in summer.
If coming from outside of Brittany, it's probably better to cross the channel in calais (people pay by car) and then hitch in england and wales, even if it's a little bit more difficult there. In wales, you still have to pay the ferry but it's cheaper !

Weirdly enough, this is the fastest way to get out of Ireland from Kilkenny (via the Rosslare ferry).

This should be a decent spot - along the main road that's leaving Coleraine towards Derry, a hard shoulder, enough traffic but not too much - still I had to wait more than an hour, which is toally exceptional for Northern Ireland. You'd probably be better off following the road a bit further down until you're really out of town (although cars will be faster there).
