Got a ride to Koper in Slovenia, easy to cross border here. There is a bus stop, make a sign.

Almost no traffic, but it's possible to get to Termoli. I think that this is good in italian standards of hitchhiking

I hopelessly thumbed while walking from highway pay tolls and some nice guy stopped for me and took to San Severo. This is not a place to stand, but conclusion is that it's better to stay on SS16 than A14

After 1h of waiting police told me to get away from this spot. They didn't care that all roads around are big intersections and there is no place to walk at all, so this spot is safer than any other around. They care about highway not safety, so they wouldn't let me stand on the highway entrance.

It took me 2,5h to get a ride only to Foggia. There is not much traffic and most of them going south. Maybe it somehow could work to Bari. Also it seemed to me like they just don't want to take hitchhiker to a highway. Police passed me twice and they didn't care, so at least spot is legal.

This is not good at all, probably other intersections in Cerignola are better, but I ended here. Luckily great guy stopped and took me to the station on entrance to A14 highway, also asked me for a coffee and croissant. Nice experience for me, but I wouldn't recommend a place.

You can get on SS16 to Cerignola or to Foggia if you are lucky.

Probably there is no chance for a long ride, but I got really quickly to Barletta, people are nice.

I was at this station in the evening and traffic was low so I tried but also I was already planning to stay in a tent somewhere behind the parking and start again in the morning. After 30min police showed up and asked me to leave the station outside this big fence. Probably the owner really don't like hitchhikers and called a police. I found some quiet nice spot outside the highway, but I was spotted in the morning and some "forest police" came, but the guy was really nice and okay with me when I explained him my story. Then I walked to SS16, because if you will be spotted twice on the same autogrill station you probably will get a fine for trespassing, just sad italian highway experience.

So the fence is really difficult to jump over. Some guy let me in but he was mad about it and said something about police. In 5min I took a ride to another similar station, at this time I thought that's good idea, but actually is very difficult to hitchhike on highway and it's likely that police will show up at some point.

I didn't manage to get a ride here to Grosseto. Then it got dark and had to take a train

We asked everybody there but most cars were full or only going 10km. So we decided to ask Truckdrivers and the second one could take as almost until Girona after his break from 9hours so we waited there inside the autogrill and tried to sleep and watched Netflix. Before 3am we started driving. But normally the Trucks aren't allowed to take people because they only have 2 seats most of the time. It was the longest and most comfortable ride so far (We could Sleep in the Beds)

good spot to go towards France, male a sign to Savona or Imperia so that people can easier lift you, there's a gas station where you can ask people

the spot it's okay forncars to stop there is enough space in the roundabout, i made It to Genova, make sure to have a sign:)

Not too many Cars but you should be able to get a ride to Genoa, because almost everybody drives there.

Not so easy access to this place, but its good if u need to go to Milano, everyone goes there.

It seems people in Veneto are scared to pick up people

I took the tram T1 to the airport and walked there. Many people are going to Prato. After asking around for more or less 20 minutes I got a ride to Bologna

Really tricky to get there with the bridge still closed. I tried to follow the other descriptions but some locals noticed and drove me there. There I literally got a ride in no time by the second person I asked.

A smaller Autogrill, not that much traffic, but still got a ride to Lugano train station (exactly where I wanted to go) by a german couple in less than 10 minutes

Hard to get away towards Simplon. Tried at 2 different gas stations. And asked truckers near Douane with no luck. Finaly walked to Brig station and bought trainticket to Italy

Great Spot to hitch a ride towards munich, Switzerland or Innsbruck. I managed to get a ride quite deep into Italy :)

Fantastic spot, lots of traffic going towards Italy. Got a ride a very long way in 20 minutes. Stand at the traffic circle with a sign just before the gas stations and people can pull into the gas station parking lot to pick you up

Not a great place for people to see you, but lots of space to stop when they do see you. Got a ride to martigny with a sign that said Italy (final destination Milan)

Every local will stop to take you just few citys\villages but you can just dont pay the ticket for the train to Milan, they dont check the Tickets often. If your a tourist just talk in your local language and they will kick you out at the next Station and you can take the next train (if your a tourist it prettymuch works in everey regional train in Italy)

Not the best spot, few space to stop for the cars but the road i straight to the france and the landsvape is BEAUTIFULL. there are some french cars who come back from italy, and the road pass from the alpes and a outstanding lake. If you want to be fast is better walk 40 minuts back there is a spot for the hightway.

A good place if you want to go towards Italy, France and Germany or the Czech Republic. We were heading towards Budapest and we had some difficulties to find someone who was driving in that direction. But a lot can depend on what time you hitchhiking. On the plus side, a lot of trucks and quite a lot of passenger car traffic at the gas station. A good place to stop/accommodate. There is a shower, laundry, hostel.

It's a great spot to get to Italy or Koper, but we were trying to get to Rijeka, and no one was going that way. We decided to walk the 4-5 km to crossroad the 6 and the A1, and hitchhiked there after literally two minutes.

i slept in the forest next to the station, theres a metal grid fence that you can easily climb in the truck stop area next to the highway. just make sure to wake up early to climb it up again with no one seeing. got a ride to metz by a nice belgian couple on their way to italy. lots of people were willing to take me but their cars were full of luggage.

Here I met a Swedish guy who was hitchhiking for the first time to Italy! Managed to hitch a ride together with guys from Kosovo going to Hannover.

It was very easy to find a ride with a sign Italy by asking around

Mostly LKW, but managed to find a ride to Kassel for a Swedish guy going to Italy and then I found a Polish bus going towards Wroclaw.

We were originaly trying to get to vienna or in the direction of germany but we met a guy going to italy who was willing to take us with him so we went for it. Wouldn't recommend trying to go to vieanna from here. Many people seemed to go to Budapest from here

a lot of full cars because of the holidays. ask around at the parking lot behind the gas station. cars are going in every direction, we got a 400km ride to vicenza, italy.

The pot is perfect, i was aiming italy so it takes long searching for italian cars, but if you want to go in france is super easy. Is possible also for germany and spain or switzerland and netherlans(in summer of course). There is a MC, the station is open 24, i slept there because was raining. There are 2 parking spot.

Lots of traffick going south towards Italy. (Were offerd multiple rides to molan and genoa) Tried to go to charmonix, after 2 hours we accepted a ride to locarno.

Tried to move towards Italy. The spot is okay to go towards Gotthart. Many people move towards Bern though.aybe try to catch the Autogrill after the A1 and A2 split. During Holidays most cars are full of luggage. Found a guy who took us towards Como eventually, which was great. I would say the spot is alright but not great.

We were here pretty at around 17:00 on a Friday. We tried for an hour to get towards Italy but no luck. We ended up staying in Innsbruck. If you have the time it is properly a good spot.

Waited for a ride towards Italy/Slowenia got a ride with a cute family, it took longer to write a sign then to chatch a ride :)

Great spot, loads of traffic going into italy. At the busstop is great but anywhere on a spot where cars can stop is great!!
