I was looking for a boat to Sardinia for three days around here, and this is everything you need to know before attempting this: This is a large marina with direct access to the boat, which means you can ask people directly instead of just waiting at the gate like in other marinas. The people here were supportive, especially the marina staff, who even allowed me to drop my backpack there while going to the shop. Speaking of supplies, there is no potable water here, so you need to buy some at the shop uphill, and given the heat, I drank 6-8 liters a day. There is a clean restaurant and a shower for a reasonable price. I slept in bushes on the Via la Marina slope. You can walk uphill, and there is a hidden clearance in the middle of the bushes. Lokked abandoned and safe, slept there two times. I think the best part of the port to ask around was the one marked on the map. After three days, I was thinking about giving up, but at the last moment, I found a sailing boat going to Bonifacio, and it was an experience of a lifetime. I can advise you to try it, just check the forecast in advance, because sailing is highly weather-dependent.

An awesome spot for Santa Teresa Gallura. I just got here, and one of the first cars picked me up. There is a spot to pull over here, and the cars are slow from the roundabout.

This was a pretty decent spot, but on this road, there seems to be very little traffic. But after a while, I got a ride to Palau. There is a bus stop to pull over here, and cars are not that fast.

I was just walking along the road waving with a sign Arzachena and a guy stopped and took me there. First, I was asking at the local gas station, but it looked like there was just local traffic there.

I was dropped off here due to miscommunication and was just thumbing to the nearest town. There is a place to pull over, and a car stopped for me within a few minutes.

Even though this spot seems like a headache with all of the cars and directions it's super easy to hitch a ride by the side of the highway to Austria or further, wait times of 5-15 minutes expected

Towards Bolzano, stopped cars by the entrance of the parking, great spot, loads of long distance cars, possibilities to get a car going anywhere, okay spot, cars can stop if they want to, wait times of 20-30 minutes expected

Towards Trento, perfectly wide shoulder and great visibility with loads of locals going to Trento means you'll catch a car within 10 or so minutes

Towards Trento, only locals use this entry, probably going off the SS road in about a km or so, would definitely walk a bit further to a much better spot, but doable here too, wait times of 20-40 minutes expected

Towards Trento/Borgo Valsugana, low speeds, good visibility, friendly locals, wait times of 5-10 minutes expected, everyone going on the road will most likely go quite some distance to the mountains

Wide asphalted shoulder towards Bassano del Grappa, locals going between Cittadella and Bassano are super likely to stop, wait times of 5-10 minutes expected

Bus stop towards Sistiana or general north direction, good traffic, bus stop has a very wide parking area just before it and it's very comfortable for cars to stop there, wait times of 5-10 minutes expected

On the way to get into the highway, there is space for stopping briefly and a parking. You can get here with public bus from the train station

Towards Italy, mainly to Trieste/Barcola area, this is the road that the locals take, they come to Slovenia to fill up their cars, motorcycles etc and use the entrance road in about 500 meters to go to the highway, decent traffic, mostly Italians, wait times of 5-15 minutes expected, way better than anywhere else around Sežana

Got insanely lucky and was got by a guy heading to Udine in Italy. Decent spot for flagging cars down leaving the fuel

I don't know what anyone said, but most of the vehicles are heading specifically to Germany and Austria—very few to Italy, and the ones that do go are packed. I've been here since yesterday evening, but it's been completely useless; I just hope I make it to Padua.

One of the best spots in Switzerland. A Large gas station, where people rest. Direct route to Italy. If you get tired, you can chill inside the gas station.

With a "Milano" sign we got picked up until Milano in 5 minutes by some people resting at the gas station. Friday is the best time to hitchhike here because of workers going home for the weekend (italians to Italy, or other people from Milano airport to other countries).

Three girls with "Brig" sign got picked up until Visp (Visp is perfect if you want to continue to Italy trough the Simplon pass). Friday is the best time to hitchhike here, because of italian (and other) people working in Switzerland going home for the weekend.

Three girls with a sign "Sion-Brig-Italy:)" got picked up in 2 minutes until Sierre. Friday is the best time to hitchhike via this route.

We had a sign with “Italy” and we didn’t even stand there for a minute before a lady stopped and offered a ride to the border.

I definitely recommend this place! I decided to stay here because (at the time of writing this review) a bus leaves from this stop for the outskirts of the city, which makes it much easier to get out of town. And while you’re at it, you can also hitch a ride with someone heading toward Slovenia, Croatia, or Italy. I was traveling alone, a guy

People do see you and there is a lay by for people to pull over. However many persons just go in town or for some reason not really keen on getting you in. I finally got a ride after more than an hour of waiting, which brought me to Lecce my final destination but by then (~1h30 of waiting) I actually had decided to take the bus since the sun was hard.... Hitchhiking in East - South Italy doesn't seem to be great :(

Tried again to find a ride after I failed on the previous two points. If some one actually have a car mostly he has his family or dog. So no place. Since Villach is near Italy alot of cars come her and work here. So trying to communicate with some one with Italian plate always failed. I asked around 15 persons. My last plan was to take a flixbus to Udine €17 or Venice €23. Luckily some one gave me ride to next village on the highway. He said there are highr chances for you there.

Got dropped off here after leaving Nice, en route to Italy. Quite a small services but beautiful views and we found it promising as we saw lots if places to sleep if we weren't lucky enough to get a lift. We got a few sympsthetic refusal nods from drivers and then two lovely Germans in their way hone offered to take us to Italy.
