Couldn't find a ride to Venice

didn't even try to hitchhike, was just being disapointed and looking at my phone after missing the bus; when someone stopped and saved my from the hike up to norma. cute town, with an amazing view and a nice set of roman ruins

Estis iom malfacile alveni tien, preterpasi la barilon kaj ĉion tian. Kiam mi alvenis al la stacidomo, estis policanoj ĉe la elirejo. Mi sukcesis alivesti min parolante kun alia aŭto, kiu haltis ĝuste ĉe la elirejo, sed ĉar mi sciis, ke ili havas problemojn kun petveturantoj, mi atendis, ke ili foriru por provi sur la vojo, kio daŭris horojn... tamen, dum ili estis tie, mi provis de la alia flanko de la stacidomo diskrete demandi homojn. Estis malfacile kiam du policaj aŭtoj alvenis kaj staris ĉe kontraŭaj flankoj; ŝajnis, ke ili nur atendis petveturantojn. Mi kredas, ke la antaŭa stacidomo estus pli bona laŭ la priskriboj. Sed ĝi funkciis; mi ricevis veturon al Germanio, kio multe helpis min, ĉar mi iris al la Eŭropa Ĉielarka Festivalo en Belgio. Artista paro veturigis min. Ili dormis en Svislando, en la montoj ĉe la domo de kelkaj amikoj, kaj ĉi tiuj amikoj ankaŭ akceptis min tie por dormi kaj ankaŭ dum la mateno, kiam ni faris artajn agadojn kune.

Not so busy, we tried to ask people for Nice / Marseille direction. A Swiss older couple on Tesla took us before Nice, above Monaco. From there it was easier because we were finally in France. Good luck.

Smaller traffic but still good. A guy took us to gas station in highway Bordighera. Direction to France - Marseille. People here are really kind.

Not so frequent gas station in the morning and small, but we asked a guy who took us to another gas station on highway above Andora village in the direction to France - Marseille.

We, couple, asked people on gas station and found a french family going to Cannes. They took us to highway gas station near Savona, where were opened door from the station to the Savona town.

I picked up a hitchhiker, a volunteer coming from the Winter Olympics athlete village heading to Caprile, which I passed while going to Alleghe. Of course I asked the most asked question 'how long did you have to wait?'

Lot of traffic going Genova direction. Young couple stoped to take us (2) directly to Genova city centre. We just had a sign Genova.

Not easy to go to this place, but when you go through the field it is a quite fine spot to go to Milan from nearby villages. We had a sign Milano. A guy took us to a metro station, by metro we went to the southern part of Milano to Romolo station and continued to Genova from there.

Good spot to go to Milan, because there are two direct ways. And it is just one way from the gas station for all the traffic. We (couple) had a sign Milan.

We (2) saw a group of Slovenian ski instructors who were looking at us, so we asked them for the Milan direction and they immediately took us to another gas station before Brescia, which is a good spot before Milan.

Workers on gas station are not friendly and don’t you let be there, you have to be next to Autogrill. Lot of people in weekend going direction Verona/Milan, but hitchhiking in Italy is not so easy. But you will definitely find a way and someone who’ll take you with.

Lot of traffic, but better to ask someone to take you to highway at least, becase there are lot of directions from this place. We (a couple) had a sign Verona/Milan, it was raining so we asked a guy while he was filling the gas and he took us to gas station on highway.

Good spot, lot of cars afternoon going to Venice or Trieste direction. We (couple) had a sign Venice/Verona and a young guy took us directly to Padova to the centre and bought us a drink afterwards.

Quite lot of cars going to Venice direction to highway. Not the best spot but still the option. We (2) had a sign Venice/Verona. People at least waving on us.

Lot of cars afternoon going direction to Venice, but we got a ride just to Palmanova, from where we continued further. We had sign Venice/Verona.

Really easy to find a ride to Italy/Udine

Most cars have no room because they are visiting their family in the balkans and people who go to Italy don’t take you. But if some one who drives to the balkans has space they are insanely kind.

a romanian trucker offered me a lift. he just started his shift and would have taken me all the way to italy, however i decided to avoid it and headed to slovenia over germany, hence he dropped me on aire de ambrussum

It’s not great, but it’s Italy. And with it being Italy, it’s actually pretty good! I got there in the afternoon in late January, with a sign reading “Verona”. I barely got any looks from passing cars, in all the time I was then I think it was two waves at most. But after 45 minutes, Michaela and her young son offered me a ride to Desenzano. As we were driving, her son who spoke English would translate between us, to save me the horror of my broken Italian. She decided that she absolutely refused to drop me at a service station to continue hitching, not because it was dangerous in her eyes, but because she thought it would take too long! In her eyes, she wanted to take me all the way to Verona, so the best she could do was invite me to her home for lunch, and buy me a train ticked to Verona! After countless refusals on my behalf, I finally gave in to the hospitality, and had the loveliest afternoon. “I’ve never had anything like this happen when hitching before!” “You’re in Italy now.”

Just right after a border control. First stopped a bus and asked 8 euros, after refusal albanian with Italy plates stopped and took us to Podgorica. But I asked to drop me near waterfall.

There's an elongated parking spot to the right after the toll, where people can stop easily before they speed up. Had lost of cars even crossing from the further side of the road. Sign Chambery, got me to the Gare. Should be perfect for going direction Italy too, and getting long rides.

In theory this should be a good spot for going far, but most of the cars were local, or going direction Italy. Got a ride to Crolle in an attempt to hitch the toll, where I got better results.

Chill gas station, not hat many cars but lots of international plates. Had a sign Chambery, got ride to after Grenoble at the third car passing. Should be quite easy to get rides direction Geneve or Italy too.

Only spot out of Milan, not a lot of traffic. Went trough the fence near the metro station, good walk, somebody already cut the fence. Two male hitchhikers, as usual in italy you need to approach the drivers a lot. Only got taken one 10km but to an better autogrill. Two male hitchhikers. Summer 2025

Traffic very good, we standed 20m before gas station. Its possible to catch car, if you have cardboard with destination. Remember that's Italy, not easiest place for hitchhikers Good luck :)

A lot of trucks to vienna, italy and Brno

Hard to get away towards Simplon. Tried at 2 different gas stations. And asked truckers near Douane with no luck. Finaly walked to Brig station and bought trainticket to Italy

Great Spot to hitch a ride towards munich, Switzerland or Innsbruck. I managed to get a ride quite deep into Italy :)

Fantastic spot, lots of traffic going towards Italy. Got a ride a very long way in 20 minutes. Stand at the traffic circle with a sign just before the gas stations and people can pull into the gas station parking lot to pick you up

Not a great place for people to see you, but lots of space to stop when they do see you. Got a ride to martigny with a sign that said Italy (final destination Milan)

Every local will stop to take you just few citys\villages but you can just dont pay the ticket for the train to Milan, they dont check the Tickets often. If your a tourist just talk in your local language and they will kick you out at the next Station and you can take the next train (if your a tourist it prettymuch works in everey regional train in Italy)

Not the best spot, few space to stop for the cars but the road i straight to the france and the landsvape is BEAUTIFULL. there are some french cars who come back from italy, and the road pass from the alpes and a outstanding lake. If you want to be fast is better walk 40 minuts back there is a spot for the hightway.

A good place if you want to go towards Italy, France and Germany or the Czech Republic. We were heading towards Budapest and we had some difficulties to find someone who was driving in that direction. But a lot can depend on what time you hitchhiking. On the plus side, a lot of trucks and quite a lot of passenger car traffic at the gas station. A good place to stop/accommodate. There is a shower, laundry, hostel.

It's a great spot to get to Italy or Koper, but we were trying to get to Rijeka, and no one was going that way. We decided to walk the 4-5 km to crossroad the 6 and the A1, and hitchhiked there after literally two minutes.
