What a spot, I had a sign to Rimini and got picked up by a lovely lady in 15 mins, petrol station for people to drive into, lots of cars going by and traffic so they can see you

I got incredibly lucky as a Romanian truck driver picked me up (the BEST people) and I had a sign to Genova, but ended up going further as I wanna get to San Marino. Hard to get into this spot as i walked on the road, and police came and waved a finger no, but i ignored them and thankfully got a lift quickly after

Only spot out of Milan, not a lot of traffic. Went trough the fence near the metro station, good walk, somebody already cut the fence. Very good spot, I was probably lucky but just holding my sign saying La Spezia a had an old couple stop really quickly.

We were visiting the wild hot springs there, in Bagni di San Filippo. A nice man took us just to point we need.

Cars can see you from distance and there is enough space for them to stop. But the problem is, that you are still quite in the center and with sign to Livorno its a bit strange. One car offered me Empoli and second Lucca but I declined both (should have taken Empoli).

Not a frequented gas station. Maybe 1 car left every 5 minutes (cca 6 cars in 30 minutes). One older lady offered me a ride to Viareggio but I declined because I wanted to Livorno.

I had sign to Bologna and after first hour I gave up and went to the city. After some hours I returned and I get a stop after 5 minutes. But I think that its a bit illegal here since two police cars told me, that I cant hitchhike there, but I explaind them, that it is not highway yet (they were laughing at my italian and let me hitchhike - cool guys). And italians are not into taking hitchhiker so the driver was Albanian.

I was alone with sign trying to get to Bologna. You are kind of hidden behind the curve and there is a big sign "no autostop" above you. There are a lot of cars, but they are speeding. Also the spot where they could stop you was still occupied by some other cars setting their gps. And italians are not into taking hitchhikers, so the driver was a foreigner and he took me to the first exit.

We were 2 guys, we wanted to get to Palermo. First car stoped after 1 hour. The spot seems perfect. There are a lot of cars, they go slowly and they can see you from distance. But italians are not into taking hitchhikers, so our driver was a Pole (polish men).

Traffic very good, we standed 20m before gas station. Its possible to catch car, if you have cardboard with destination. Remember that's Italy, not easiest place for hitchhikers Good luck :)

Out of the toll, lots of traffic, easy for car to stop and see you

You can get in the gas station by a small gate in the fence from the road behind the station. Technically illegal but no one seemed to care.

Got kicked out by the police, and realised that I was just after the sign saying "no autostop". All the people seemed to be going to Palermo and no one to Messina

A lot of trucks to vienna, italy and Brno

Hard to get away towards Simplon. Tried at 2 different gas stations. And asked truckers near Douane with no luck. Finaly walked to Brig station and bought trainticket to Italy

Great Spot to hitch a ride towards munich, Switzerland or Innsbruck. I managed to get a ride quite deep into Italy :)

Fantastic spot, lots of traffic going towards Italy. Got a ride a very long way in 20 minutes. Stand at the traffic circle with a sign just before the gas stations and people can pull into the gas station parking lot to pick you up

Not a great place for people to see you, but lots of space to stop when they do see you. Got a ride to martigny with a sign that said Italy (final destination Milan)

Every local will stop to take you just few citys\villages but you can just dont pay the ticket for the train to Milan, they dont check the Tickets often. If your a tourist just talk in your local language and they will kick you out at the next Station and you can take the next train (if your a tourist it prettymuch works in everey regional train in Italy)

Not the best spot, few space to stop for the cars but the road i straight to the france and the landsvape is BEAUTIFULL. there are some french cars who come back from italy, and the road pass from the alpes and a outstanding lake. If you want to be fast is better walk 40 minuts back there is a spot for the hightway.

A good place if you want to go towards Italy, France and Germany or the Czech Republic. We were heading towards Budapest and we had some difficulties to find someone who was driving in that direction. But a lot can depend on what time you hitchhiking. On the plus side, a lot of trucks and quite a lot of passenger car traffic at the gas station. A good place to stop/accommodate. There is a shower, laundry, hostel.

It's a great spot to get to Italy or Koper, but we were trying to get to Rijeka, and no one was going that way. We decided to walk the 4-5 km to crossroad the 6 and the A1, and hitchhiked there after literally two minutes.

i slept in the forest next to the station, theres a metal grid fence that you can easily climb in the truck stop area next to the highway. just make sure to wake up early to climb it up again with no one seeing. got a ride to metz by a nice belgian couple on their way to italy. lots of people were willing to take me but their cars were full of luggage.

Here I met a Swedish guy who was hitchhiking for the first time to Italy! Managed to hitch a ride together with guys from Kosovo going to Hannover.

It was very easy to find a ride with a sign Italy by asking around

Mostly LKW, but managed to find a ride to Kassel for a Swedish guy going to Italy and then I found a Polish bus going towards Wroclaw.

We were originaly trying to get to vienna or in the direction of germany but we met a guy going to italy who was willing to take us with him so we went for it. Wouldn't recommend trying to go to vieanna from here. Many people seemed to go to Budapest from here

a lot of full cars because of the holidays. ask around at the parking lot behind the gas station. cars are going in every direction, we got a 400km ride to vicenza, italy.

The pot is perfect, i was aiming italy so it takes long searching for italian cars, but if you want to go in france is super easy. Is possible also for germany and spain or switzerland and netherlans(in summer of course). There is a MC, the station is open 24, i slept there because was raining. There are 2 parking spot.

Lots of traffick going south towards Italy. (Were offerd multiple rides to molan and genoa) Tried to go to charmonix, after 2 hours we accepted a ride to locarno.

Tried to move towards Italy. The spot is okay to go towards Gotthart. Many people move towards Bern though.aybe try to catch the Autogrill after the A1 and A2 split. During Holidays most cars are full of luggage. Found a guy who took us towards Como eventually, which was great. I would say the spot is alright but not great.
