So there’s basically no traffic after the border so I just started walking and waving down all the vehicles going past. Got a ride to Pakse in what looked like an organised pickup with a guy speaking French

Got a ride out of town with a sign just saying north in Lao, this place is good because it’s where the Main Street across Pakse and the bypass road meet

First car stopped to take me 10km further north.

Took me surprisingly long to get a ride (I had a sign saying north in Lao) but I eventually got picked up by three guys who are trying to beat the world record for most countries visited in an EV. They drove me all the way to Vientiane over two days

There’s a bridge sort of thing to keep you dry in case it’s raining. Had a sign for Vang Vieng and I got a ride halfway, to Phong Hong

Not a lot of traffic, good to have a sign for Vang Vieng if that’s your direction because most cars are going to Vientiane

The road is so bad cars basically have to stop anyway, had a 5km sign which was good for getting me out of town.

I was lucky enough to find a family who took me across the bypass on their way to Xayaboury. The bypass road after Kasi is actually pretty good by Laotian standards

I’d just been dropped off here and a van took me to Luang Prabang for free

Rode one of those green Chinese shared scooters to the outskirts of town and got a ride fairely quickly towards Xieng Ngeun

First car going to Vang Vieng took me to the intersection to Xayaboury

Not a lot of traffic but whatever there is will likely take you all the way to Xayaboury

Not a lot of traffic but enough that you’ll get a ride relatively soon. In my case it was in the back of a pickup truck to a village on the road to Hongsa

It’s a mountain road in very bad condition, not much traffic but only one direction and cars are likely to go at least to Hongsa. Got a ride with a policeman pretty much to the Thai border at Muang Ngeun

I tried hitchhiking for two days just to travel 30 km. In the end, I gave up and took the train to Luang Prabang. Hitchhiking is very difficult in Laos, and if someone gives you a ride, they might ask for a bribe at a police checkpoint. In the following days, I paid 1,500,000 kip in bribes to the police. Be prepared to pay bribes in Laos.

After pass border I walked to there. 5 hour's I was tried hitchhike but nobody's stop.... After day at morning I found a car.

Good spot if you go to Nong Khiaw. Got a truck in less than 10 min. HH here is usually short drives - from village to village

My second day HH in Laos I was just lucky! I got a ride for 10 hours and make 380 km ! Until Nong Khiaw

Once you cross the border from Vietnam to Laos, you probably will get stuck for a few hours! No traffic at all ! So, take water with you and some snacks! And wave your hands! I was waiting 5 hours for the first ride like 80km
