We were waiting here for werry long time. The border can not be crossed by foot. You have to be in wehicle. No one wanted to pick us across the border.

First about the border crossing. You can cross it on foot without any problem, I crossed it from Transinistria to Moldova yesterday in the evening because I could stay in Transinistria only for 12 hours without accommodation and I wanted to wildcamp which I did on Moldovan side of border on small grass area in forest next to main road but when I wanted to go back to transinistria in the morning guards had problems with me carrying a pepper spray and told me that I need to throw it away if I want to cross border. As in Moldova and Transinistria a like there are a lot of stray dogs that quite often are aggressive I didn't wanted to be without anything to defend myself so I decided to go back to Moldova. Now description of spot itself starts, there is place to stop almost everywhere on that road between border control and bridge. I just stayed in the only place that had any shadow in the morning and was close to border control. Cars goes slow after border and I quickly got ride to Chisinau city center

Two tarmac bays (an entry and an exit of the petrol station), so loads of place to stop. Very good visibility. No shade, but it was very cloudy evening. The cars were going pretty fast. And there were very few of them. The whole hitchhiking from Bălți was going much slower than I expected. I started to think that I'd get stuck here (getting dark, very few cars etc.). But after half an hour a car stopped. And it was going all the way to Iaşi. But the ride was a bit stressful. The guy asked for money. Then he said he had been only joking. But during the ride he was "joking" like that a few more times. At the border he was shouting at the border gards. And generally he was a bit weird. So, I was relieved when I got off in Iaşi. The traffic on this road seems to be not very busy. So reserve guys a bit more time to get to Iaşi from Bălți.

There is some space for stopping a car and speeds are low. Not the biggest traffic but also not too bad. They are like 3 spots good for hitchhiking little bit before that including one marked on map but they were all occupied by local hitchhikers so I went here

I had some shade from a road sign (the sun was still burning my legs and my arse). The visibility was good. The cars were going slowly. An evening pretty quiet traffic. After 4 minutes a car stopped, but was getting off the main road in a couple of kilometres, so I passed. After 12 minutes I got a 13 kms ride. It was getting late and I was going slowly. So reserve more time if you head to Iaşi along this road. The guys were nice and dropped me at the end of the village, so I saved some time on walking.

There was a very small bay, the visibility was o'right, a bit of shade, cars didn't go very fast. But it wasn't a good spot towards Iaşi. It looked that the long distance cars were not using that bypass road and they were going through the town centre instead. Most cars were showing me that they didn't go far. After 20 minutes the first car stopped and when they heard my destination they said "No" and rhey drove away. 10 minutes later another car stopped and the driver gave me a short (2,5 kms) but helpful ride to the western end of the town where the things picked up a bit for me. So, if you go west head directly to the west end of the town. Don't waste your time here.

After half an hour of waiting guy who drove to the gas station waved at me and asked me were I'm going. After that he took me to Tiraspol city center

Car don't go too fast due to the roundabout. Unfortunately no shade. After six minutes I got my first ride to Fălești, which was pretty good beginning. The things slowed down after that ride.

Got ride to Bendery city center almost instantly. Litteraly third car stopped but I think I was just lucky aldo spot looks really nice. You can sleep in a forest nearby but be aware of dogs. One came to me in the morning and started barking at my tent but as I was inside I just waited till he got bored and only when I didn't heard any dogs outside (and you will hear their movement even if they are quiet because of a lot of trashes and sticks in that forest) I only came out of my tent. It was my third night here and first time I had such situation but be aware of possibility and maybe set up tent further away from path (I put it quite close because of my lazynes). Also they don't let people without plane ticket to the airport which is sad because one year ago you could go there freely to use free toilet and charge your phone but check that as it may change in future

I was sitting by the spring drinking water when a car arrived and the driver started filling up his bottles. We chatted (well more signed, coz he was mute) and when he found out that I was heading to Bălți, he offered me a ride.

After a short walk along the road the first car stopped and the driver picked me up and dropped after the village Rădoaia, by a nice spring, coz I needed some water. And by that spring I met a guy who offered me a ride to Bălți.

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Olișcani to Rădoaia (successful?). Well the "?" after "successful" is cozed by this last leg of my trip that day. The last, a bit over, 6 kms I walked. During that over one hour walk only two cars passed me. Both were full so they didn't stop. That short road doesn't look promising for hitchhikers. But it's not a very long distance and I got to my destination anyway.

I was actually walking from the junction less than one kilometer away from here, for about 10 minutes, hitchhiking along the way. Not many car. Gravel, dusty road. Good visibility. The guy who stopped was actually going to Heciul Nou, but he was kind enough and he did an extra mile for me and he dropped me at the junction before Trifănești.

Good visibility. Cars don't go too fast. Unfortunately no shade. But in 5 minutes I was in a car which dropped me outside of Biruința.

Not really a place to pull over, but the traffic was so slow that it wasn't a problem. Shade on the other side of the road. I was going there between cars. The 3rd car (less than 5 minutes of waiting) stopped and the driver took me to Florești. He was extra nice and he dropped me at the end of the town.

I was dropped at the junction by the previous driver and I walk to the end of a bus bay, after which there was a gravel bay. There was some shade. Good visibility. After 10 minutes a guy stopped and gave me a ride to my destination. He was superb kind. I got a souvenir from him. A couple of plastic coins from Transnistria, which I was hoping to get but I wasn't able to get while travelling there.

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Sănătăuca to Olișcani (successful). The spot had the feeling of the end of the word place. No tarmac, so much dust. Quiet traffic. Good visibility. Shade. After 13 minutes the first car stop. After he left I realised we misunderstood each other, coz he was going my way. Luckly 4 minutes later another car stopped and took me to the main rode R9.

I was planning to hitchhike along this road to Soldanesti, but when I was sitting there and having something to eat I watched the road. In half an hour only one car passed. So, I decided to take the other, longer but more busy, road.

Not a hitchhike but this is a note that this border CAN be crossed by foot. Transnistria gards were friendly. They only asked to open my backpack but they didn't realy went through it. The Moldovian gards only saw my passport and they wished me good trip.

After 3 minutes an army officer (in his private car) took me and dropped me in front of a supermarket in Kamionka. Funny thing. When I got off the car in Kamionka there was a police car parked nearby. I went straight to the shop and when I was leaving the supermarket the policeman was waiting outside and asked me why I went to the supermarket. Seriously 😂 After a very short chat he let me carry on my walk to the nearby border crossing and I left that interesting country.

Police want let you walk across this bridge. Because most of the traffic are Ukrainians transiting true this small part of Moldova to other part Odessa oblast and this border zone has some special regulations due to high risk of people escaping mobilization and this may lead to some problems. If you aren't shy there is an opportunity to hitchhike this border as every 30 minutes or something que forms before this bridge and then you can ask cars with Moldovan plates will they take you across. As I'm in fact shy I after thinking for a while what to do decided to take a bus across and as price was the same for close distance and got going to chisinau airport I decided to go over there as there is a forest right next to it which I already camped once and first bus that I could buy ticket online was quite late in the evening (there is no real bus station in that town)

Unfortunately the driver wasn't going all the way to Chisinau and he dropped here, 15 kms before the capital. I was a bit in a pickle, coz I didn't have local money to pay for a public transport. And it was maybe the last 15 minutes before the sunset. So it looked like a long way ahead of me. Lucky I got a ride in 5 minutes. There is a nice tarmac bay in front of a closed petrol station. The visibility is also very good.

A big tarmac bay (which I think is also a bus stop) after a roundabout. So cars go slowly, see you well and have place to stop. I was only surprised at a low level of traffic. I was hoping that when I join this Bukarest-Chisinau roads it'd be more busy. It was getting late, so I started thinking that I wouldn't make it to Chisinau that day. But after 30 minutes a guy stopped and it turned out that he was going to Chisinau. Well, almost to Chisinau.

Still a bit too urban, and there isn't a proper bay to stop but it's the end of a double lane. Almost all drivers join the other lane before, so the ending one is almost all the time empty and cars can stop. Very good visibility. Busy traffic. After 10 minutes I got a short, but very helpful (to the Bukarest - Chisinau road) ride to Crasna roundabout.

There is a huge gravel bay, with loads of space. Very good visibility. No shade, and it was a very hot day, so I was frying in this open space. Luckly not for long. After 10 minutes a guy took me to Vaslui. He was kind enough to do an extra mile and dropped me on the ride side of the town.

It looked decent. There was some wide junction with a local road to pull over. Very good visibility. The traffic was pretty slow and before a curve. But I've hitchhiked many time in places like that in Romania and it was always much faster. Well, hitchhiking is always a lottery, isn't it? 😁 It was a very hot day. Lucky there was a little shade a few steps away. Where I was hiding when there was no traffic. In the end one guy took me almost to Vaslui. After that the lifts were happening much faster.

There is some gravel bay before the junction with a small road. Quite good visibility. Busy traffic. No shade and it was a really hot day (There was one tree a bit closer to the city, but there was no space to stop and it was too close to the roundabout). After 20 minutes I got a short ride - 12 kms. While hitchhiking there a police passed me by, but didn't bother me at all.

Very good visibility. No shade. A double lane, but the traffic isn't busy enough, so even cars from the second lane have a chance to stop. I got a lift in a minute 😁 In the car there were 3 other hitchhiker. Local people. They were getting off one by one and giving some money to the driver. Only I left when we arrived to Bacau. The driver didn't ask me for money. I guess they treat foreigners differently thsn locals. I had already almost 100 rides in Romaniaand and I never was asked or given a hint to pay for it. The driver was inviting me to take some of the fruits from his garden. Not to be rude I took one peach.

If you are dropped off in GALATI and wish to go to Moldova , this is probably your best spot. You can take bus 13 to get right by this roundabout. This is a low-traffic road, but that can work to you advantage as it is quite easy for cars to stop with holding up traffic. With sign MD I was picked up and driven over the border by a young Romanian couple who were going to Moldova for petrol, which seems to be a fairly common practice

Got dropped there by my last driver which wasn’t ideal but the shoulder was big enough for cars to stop. Got a ride in a Moldova registered Porsche all the way to Bucharest, probably gained a whole hour by the outrageous speeds he was going on the national road.

So, the Spot itself is okey. Our Problem was that we arrived close to sunset. Most Drivers where in Drucks with only one seat to offer. But we were two travelers. Still found somebody. Remember to download Romanian, Cause not everybody understand English. Got a ride on a minifridge in a Diesel truck to chisinau with a sign Saying "Moldova". Was an adventure. To my fellow females: I was traveling with a men. Idk if I can recommend this spot. It is in the middle of nowhere and the Druck Drivers who picked us up, was in my opinion not the safest men to be around by yourself. Be safe.

Big learning: there is a lidl right there. The pieces of cardboard that are between the bottles of water are great as a hitchhiking sign. They are big and stabile. About the stop: it is great, there is a spend bump right in Front of it, so the people have to slow down. For some reason they were really hyped to see two hitchhikers with a "Moldova" sign. So that was fun. We found a guy how to took us to a better spot to hitchhik to rep moldavia.

Hitchhiking to Chisinau, Moldova. Lots of space for cars to stop. They see you from afar but are going pretty fast. Got a short ride here but they came back and too me to Chisinau. And of course have a sign to 'Chisinau'

Write 'Chisinau' to your sign and just wait here👍 I got a ride pretty close to the capital and the border crossing went easily: they just asked one question about declaration. I'm from Finland so I don't know if that has something to do with it. Actually one of my friends had a problem at the border and he recommended to book a hostel or have some proof that you're really staying in Moldova, so I did that just in case.
