A lot of people going to the Croatian border come past here. Beware, in summer you might have a very long wait at the border.

The border is easy to cross on foot. I got a ride fairly quickly from two Montenegrins going to Čačak.

Great spot to stand, drivers are going slowly and there’s a lot of space to stop. Not many people going to Serbia I think, but I got a driver to take me to the border which I then crossed on foot and got a ride very shortly after.

Big traffic going to all different places. A lot of space for cars to stop safely and you can even ask around truck drivers. I got a truck driver who was going all the way to Serbia to take me to Bjelo Polje which took a lot of time - 3 hours for 100 km(mountains, speed limits)

Bus stop where cars can safely stop. A lot of traffic to Podgorica. I got a ride really fast with a driver going to Cetinje, then Podgorica

More people go here to Budva (then Podgorica) than through the tunnel. A lot of space to stop and cars are going at a good pace. Definitely recommend

I took the ferry from Lepetane-Kamenari as a pedestrian. Free ferry for pedestrians. On the ferry I asked several cars. Most were going west but one guy going eastward took me to Perast. One female

This is a great spot for snorkeling btw, super clear water and no one is here. Saw lots of fish, sea urchins, crabs, sea stars etc
Camped here, and the next morning a fisherman came by to collect salt off the tide pools. He offered me a ride on his boat to Plavi Horizonti, where I could catch the Blueline bus back to Tivat

I simply asked in the parking lot and very quickly found two guys heading westward, so I hitched with them to Merdari (to walk down to the rocky beach to snorkel). But if you stand by the road for westbound traffic, there's a huge pullout too that'd be easy for cars to stop. No shade though

Do not make the mistake of trying to hitchhike westward at this roundabout. The road is designed in such a way that cars cannot see or stop for you. Zero shade any time of the day. Two really nice Russian guys drove me 1km to Luštica Bay as an easier place to get a ride

Holy fuck do not try to get here intentionally, beautiful place, but super unsafe to go anywhere from here and it is literally just a two car rest stop. Via Ferrata starts just a bit south tho!

Spot itself is meh, especially if going north, has no shade and no place to stop in the northwards direction, but has an amazing view and the entire town is just right there if you wanna go wander about

Pretty central to get to either Zabljak or Pluzine, down side is it is pretty far away from anything and there is no shade to stand in, so you're pretty much left to your own devices

Pretty near city center, gas station just down the road and all the traffic heading north, perfect to get out of town

Heading to Petrovac. On this road, there is a lot of traffic, the traffic is slow, and the sidewalk is at the same level as the road --- so you'd have no problem being seen or the driver pulling over. Signed and thumbed. Got picked up by an Albanian tour van heading towards Croatia. One female

Got super lucky with a ride to Niksic, main road up north out of the airport so good chances to get a ride, but I wouldn't place all my bets on this place, quite far away from rest of the town, but at least people are willing to drop you off in city center, got beeped at couple of times while I was sorting out my bag

Inside the town, so easy to get a better spot, most of traffic is inner-city sadly, but got lucky and got a ride to outskirts of the airport

Outside a gas station and shaded mid-morning. Signed and thumbed before approaching a couple parked at the gas station for coffee asking if they were going to Mostar. They were tourists who had just come in from Montenegro that morning and were going straight to Mostar
I'm not sure how common it is for people to go to Mostar on this road (I feel like through Ljubinje is faster). Maybe I got lucky
Turns out we live in the same city, same district

Monday morning in July, not many cars.
A huge German campervan that hadn't stopped for me and my friend when we were trying to hitch from Bosnia to Montenegro passed me by (and didn't stop for me this time either hahaha). It's a good spot, spacious and so on, but no shade. I was trying to get to Ostrog.

I was getting away from a creepy couchsurfing host who had hosted me in his van at Jaz Beach (the campground behind the beach is free and big!) I had a sign for Tivat, got picked up by a couple of French dudes. Montenegro isn't really easy to hitchhike, also I have only once been picked up by a Montenegrin.

Great place if u want to head to Dubrovnik, less so if u want to head to Montenegro. On Friday, midday, we spend here more than 3hours waiting for a ride to Herzeg Novi, with a sign BUDVA/HERZEG NOVI. Lot of cars going to Dubrovnik, not so many cars going to Montenegro.

Amazing place but not many cars (Monday morning). Lots of international cars (a German van that didn't stop for me and my friend when we were trying to hitch a ride from Bosnia to Montenegro passed me when I was standing here, and they again didn't take me hahaha) and holiday makers. No shade but lots of space for cars to pull over.

It's a good spot, but not many cars (although this makes it easier for them to just stop on the road), and the majority of them are people driving within the area and not going far. Me and my friend got a ride late Saturday afternoon from a lorry driver going to Montenegro.

Got a ride to the Montenegro border, there isn’t a lot of traffic , I would advice not using a sign, that’s what I did at first and got no rides. Just classic thumb! It’s all the same road

Really difficult to hitch from: either try to work the entrance but thats unlikely to work and not clear whether cars entering are happy to pick you up or are just stopping anyway, or try to ask people. Lots of tour busses, campervans, and bikers, none of which work. Avoid where possible.
Having said that, it's at least somewhere with a good view. And I got lucky with a long distance hitch to Budva, Montenegro.

We were two persons going south but rides to direction of Bosnia were way easier ( just turn south in Bosnia and continue through Montenegro after)

Waited here because there was more place to stop but i would recommend to just stand at the exit of roundabout. Thats the most popular position to stand in Montenegro. Locals do that even tho there is no place to stop but drivers prefer much more stopping at lower speed even tho blocking the road. But got the ride in 30 min with a serbian guy who did the wrong turn. Got to Berane. But not easy section to HH

Kinda shit spot. No space to stop but in Montenegro they dont care that much. So got picked up in 10 mins to andrivejica. But at least cars go slowly here.

Spot is probably one of the most popular in montenegro. Came at the same moment as local got picked up in 10 mins to Cetinje. Also met other hitchhikers who said before them 5 locals got picked up and then they got picked up in like two mins. Good spot. The best in this direction

Idk why but maybe not a touristic season but had to wait for almost 90 min here. Before this montenegro was a dream to hitchhike. But good spot never the less. Cars see you for a really long time so if they wanted they will stop.

Stood there right next to the hotel and it was 1 a.m. already. Young guy with his girlfriend took us to bar and then to ulcinj after we told him we'll pay for the gasoline (we were really in a hurry there to get to our camping spot)
Overall Montenegro was a great hitchiking relief after being stranded in Bosnia and and Herzegovina fro 3 days.

Not much traffic going into Montenegro from here. We've spotted a city bus and went there, it turned out it's 1 euro for 30km to the prom spot
