There is a place to stand, even if it is on the main road with no sidewalk

'twas a july evening and me and my friend were trying to hitch away from Ostrog Monastery down to the sea. anyway haha we got dropped off somewhere near Podgorica at the beginning of the road to Budva. Few cars on the motorway, very hot. Huge billboard with I an Orthodox saint on it?

Monday morning in July, not many cars. A huge German campervan that hadn't stopped for me and my friend when we were trying to hitch from Bosnia to Montenegro passed me by (and didn't stop for me this time either hahaha). It's a good spot, spacious and so on, but no shade. I was trying to get to Ostrog.

I was getting away from a creepy couchsurfing host who had hosted me in his van at Jaz Beach (the campground behind the beach is free and big!) I had a sign for Tivat, got picked up by a couple of French dudes. Montenegro isn't really easy to hitchhike, also I have only once been picked up by a Montenegrin.

lots of traffic and quite a few foreign cars as well (we assumed holidaymakers bc of the time of year), and a narrowly missable parking spot to pull over into. got picked up by a Turkish couple who got us to join them on their day trip to Perast (our original destination was Kotor) and then we ended up crashing at theirs for a few nights. we = girl and guy.

Most people will go to Albania/Skhöder I tried at the exit of the town but no space ro stop and no shade. At the roundabout people might not notice you but shade and shops nearby. Got a ride from People going to Tirana to my Hostel in Skhöder. 1m Sunday 10AM

Managed to get a ride quite quickly. High traffic, with a sign BUDVA/TIVAT, we got a ride to Budva. No shade, but some space for the drivers to pull over.

not so much traffic, but a big place to stop. while walking here from the city centre I was constantly thumbing, so it may took much more time than 20 minutes I've spent on this spot.

it is 1 lane road so you can look in the eyes of each driver, but no one stopped. we went further 10 minutes to the spot under the mountain with more place to stop.

Great place if u want to head to Dubrovnik, less so if u want to head to Montenegro. On Friday, midday, we spend here more than 3hours waiting for a ride to Herzeg Novi, with a sign BUDVA/HERZEG NOVI. Lot of cars going to Dubrovnik, not so many cars going to Montenegro.

Lots of international cars (a German van that didn't stop for me and my friend when we were trying to hitch a ride from Bosnia to Montenegro passed me when I was standing here, and they again didn't take me hahaha) and holiday makers. No shade but lots of space for cars to pull over.

It's a good spot, but not many cars (although this makes it easier for them to just stop on the road), and the majority of them are people driving within the area and not going far. Me and my friend got a ride late Saturday afternoon from a lorry driver going to Montenegro.

Got a ride to the Montenegro border, there isn’t a lot of traffic , I would advice not using a sign, that’s what I did at first and got no rides. Just classic thumb! It’s all the same road

Really difficult to hitch from: either try to work the entrance but thats unlikely to work and not clear whether cars entering are happy to pick you up or are just stopping anyway, or try to ask people. Lots of tour busses, campervans, and bikers, none of which work. Avoid where possible. Having said that, it's at least somewhere with a good view. And I got lucky with a long distance hitch to Budva, Montenegro.

We were two persons going south but rides to direction of Bosnia were way easier ( just turn south in Bosnia and continue through Montenegro after)

Waited here because there was more place to stop but i would recommend to just stand at the exit of roundabout. Thats the most popular position to stand in Montenegro. Locals do that even tho there is no place to stop but drivers prefer much more stopping at lower speed even tho blocking the road. But got the ride in 30 min with a serbian guy who did the wrong turn. Got to Berane. But not easy section to HH

Kinda shit spot. No space to stop but in Montenegro they dont care that much. So got picked up in 10 mins to andrivejica. But at least cars go slowly here.

Spot is probably one of the most popular in montenegro. Came at the same moment as local got picked up in 10 mins to Cetinje. Also met other hitchhikers who said before them 5 locals got picked up and then they got picked up in like two mins. Good spot. The best in this direction

Idk why but maybe not a touristic season but had to wait for almost 90 min here. Before this montenegro was a dream to hitchhike. But good spot never the less. Cars see you for a really long time so if they wanted they will stop.

Stood there right next to the hotel and it was 1 a.m. already. Young guy with his girlfriend took us to bar and then to ulcinj after we told him we'll pay for the gasoline (we were really in a hurry there to get to our camping spot) Overall Montenegro was a great hitchiking relief after being stranded in Bosnia and and Herzegovina fro 3 days.

3 young Montenegro guys spotted on the bus helped us a lot here, staying on the road for the cars to stop and went with us a little further

Not much traffic going into Montenegro from here. We've spotted a city bus and went there, it turned out it's 1 euro for 30km to the prom spot

Guy took us right through the border as he was going to Montenegro to fuel up his car
