hitchhiked here both as two girls and as a guy with a girl - both times worked excellent.

There's a lot of traffic and space to pull over (small, private gravel road) but maybe the drivers couldn't see it. Anyway, as I was only going to Horten, I found out that there is a local bus going straight there, so I gave up trying to hitchhike after ~90 minutes.

Stood here for almost 2 hours trying to get a ride towards Oslo, noone stopped. There was a lot of traffic at the gas station/restaurant complex tho.

Very little traffic coming from Lillesand. Very few cars at the gas station too. I think I was hella lucky to get a ride in 40 minutes in this place.

Decent spot for getting out of Stavanger (towards the south). There were a lot of ongoing roadworks around so that probably didn't help.

quite disappointing how long it took after getting picked up within the first few cars at other remote-ish spots in the area, took about 45 minutes and about 20 cars as it got dark and very cold

Did not get a lift, too little traffic, mostly trucks and vans going short distances, instead take bus to Skedsmovollen Øst if you need to go north

Basically just take a bus to a busstop (there are loads with big areas to pull over). Use Google maps to check the timetable. If theres no busses soon then they are great hitchiking spots, especially in the snow when other spots are covered. You can buy a bus ticket for about €2 as a student. The busses didn't ask to see my ticket ever. Then you can hitchike away to the islands. 10 min wait time. Wonderful driver.

Picked up by a guy who had walked from Italy to Norway, as well as the entire length of Chile. He invited me over for breakfast. Thank you Ivan :)

Here you have a bus stop with a roof if needed You also have a K-market But so it's sad cause half of the cars stops at this supermarket I waited for a long time, this road is not easy to hitchhack, but an Estonian guy took me all the way to Norway's coast!

Male, Sunday evening in summer, going south to Sweden. Mostly local traffic, but this is a place where people pass from Norway/Finland driving down to Sweden. Also a gasstation and a store nearby. Didn't need to camp because an elderly couple took me late in the evening to Sweden, but I think there is plenty of opportunities to camp in the forest.

i think i just got unlucky - i was stuck here for almost 2 hours when in theory it should be a perfect spot. eventually i was saved and hitched a car to Norway. i reccomend a sign, because after a few kms the road splits in two.

I went on the ferry thanks to a car coming from Maribo. Then on the ferry I was looking for people going directly to Hamburg. After 10 people, I found 2 dutch brothers coming from Norway and going to the Netherlands. They dropped me at Moorfleet Ikea Hamburg. I was alone and with a small bag.

I took a bus from city centre (50nok) to this spot. I was lucky, my last hitchhike in Norway!!! And picked up by a smiling Syrian man.. it was really hard to hitchhike in Norway compared with other European countries, but in the end, I made it! :) thanks to those who I met;)

2persons. We were aiming to go towards Norway. Everyone seemed to be only going to Gothenburg, eventually we found a girl that was going to Trollhättan and we decided to get dropped off in Bohus.

Awesome spot to go north to Norway. Cars go pretty slow because it is in town and there’s a good amount of traffic.

I was at the bus stop in front of the airport. A man from Norway going to Montenegro took me to Herceg Novi where I can take a bus to Kotor.

stranded here in the night (march 2025) tried for an hour but then decided to check in at the hostel, to try the next day. in the morning we asked people at the tankstation to bring us to Oslo. After three hours we found a ride not to Oslo but in Norway. theoretically this tankstation is perfect for hitchhiking but in our experience the people were not really keen on helping us.
