Countless cars, but it still took an hour and a half to get anywhere. My signs went from Czechia to simply Południe (South) in an effort to get to Brno. Ended up with two guys going to Stuttgart who dropped me off in Worcław.

Great spot to get to Latvia. Many cars with Latvian license plate were stopping here. We were lucky a stopped a guy travelling to Riga.

Good spot, but many people were driving fast around us without any signs of even noticing us.

Got a ride all the way to Vilnius! I believe getting one to Warsaw shouldn't be very hard, although I didn't get one quickly.

A lot of cars going to the north east direction stops here. Got a direct ride to Lithuania on a Saturday morning.

Big parking, a lot of cars. Many cars go to Warsaw via S8. If you go direction to LT , it's better to get to A2 highway to the MOP Brwinow. P.s. There is a hot shower available for free. Nice possibility to stay fresh during hot summer days.

Got a ride near to the center

Big gas station with a lot of traffic. I was hitchhiking during the night and accepted the first ride to the next gas station on S8 (the last one before A1).

Much bigger MOP, a lot of cars. High chances to get a car to Warsaw and further. However, I got a ride to a next gas station faster.

Small rest area, a lot of local cars. After 1 h waiting with a sign Warsaw, I changed the sign to Lodz and got a lift in that direction.

A lot of local cars, but it is possible to get a ride to Wroclaw, Krakow or even Warsaw. I got a lift to the MOP just after Wroclaw.

many people go to austria for work reasons in the mornings - aim for them

fairly good but keep in mind that in the morning more people come to bielsko for work, so they won’t take you.

Maybe It was just luck, but a very nice guy heading to Poland took us all the way to our final destination while we were disscussing different options to get there.

I was dropped off there the previous night and slept near the lake very close, then continued hitchhiking in the morning. I expected to quickly get a ride to Berlin but it was a bit long, but finally I got a long ride directly to Poland.

2 hours, a lot of cars going to austria, cz, poland. most of them are families with no space to take you or not interested in general. the gas station is nice and clean and you can stay in your tent during the night.

Came here from Riga by bus and waited around 2h Some empty bus took us to Poland

A lot of traffic to Prague, Bratislava or even Budapest. And of course to Poland. It is worth to wait direct car to the border and further, than accept local commute rides.

Lot of traffic but I wanted to go towards Czech Republic but no cars. Perfect spot to go in Poland since EVERYONE goes there from this spot. Finally got a ride to the city and took a train

Maybe one of the best place to hitchhike to Czechia or Poland. A lot of the car are polish. Also lot of family with full cars so you have to be patient. We waited with a sign "Poland" and an Italian family with a camping car took us directly to Gliwice, they were going to Warszawa and we were going to Krakow.

The cars are going FAST, so stand in a place that gives drivers enough room to slow down. I was thumbing holding a "Polska" sign, hoping for a ride to Żywiec or Bielsko-Biała. I got super lucky too - a truck pulled over at the bus stop, without even seeing me, just to fix his navigation. I assumed he had stopped for me, so I walked up and asked - he ended up taking me. Because of his navigation's mistake we had to turn around and go to Poland through Dolny Kubin and then Chyżne border crossing, which is the route I originally planned. After waiting with him for his mandatory 45-minute break, he took me to the outskirts of Kraków which was my ultimate destination :)

Tried hitchhiking in the morning with a "Polska" sign. I think most of the cars going east are just people who exited the highway and are going to Zilina. If you want to go north towards Poland/Czech Republic (as I did) I suggest taking a city bus to Brodno and hitchhiking at the bus stop along the north-bound highway.

Not the best spot to get to Poland. Tried asking people but most were going to Czechia. Eventually got a ride to the border of Poland with just thumb.

2026 update: if you're going to Berlin - congrats, this is your spot. if you're going east to Poland - in my opinion still the best spot there is to get out of Berlin. you might sit here for hours but no matter the day and time you will *eventually* catch a ride, which isn't always true for other spots. i've never had to spend a night on Michendorf :) it speeds things up to go up to truckers and people with PL plates and ask them in person, especially if you know polish

Got a ride after a small wait, met some other hitchers going towards Poland, really good gas station for both directions. Most cars were going towards Lyon

Theres a incoming way to private house, not that much space to stop, but the cars will still fit there. Theres a lot of slow-coming traffic, mostly local, but a good portion continues to Poland

We didn’t even have time to put down our bags before we got offered a ride in a van taking truck drivers back to Poland. After arriving near Wroclaw, the driver generously invited us to his house for a delicious dinner and homemade cherry compot

Stood with a PL sign, truck came in around 10 - 15 minutes and took me to the border check in Poland.

Talked to quite a few people with no success for the Poland/Warsaw direction before trying it with a sign at the exit. This secured us a ride to Frankfurt (Oder) pretty quickly, but we also got a bit lucky.

One male 40+, with a sigh "BRATISLAVA", one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Brno to Budapest (successful). It looks like a good place. The entrance to the pertol station, with loads of space (enough for 2-3 lorries). After the traffic lights, so people drive slowly, and can see you easily. There are also downsides. It's before the big junction, and cars go everywhere, to Prage, Viena, Bratislava, Ostrava (and Poland) and also locally. So, I'd say that a sign is necessary here. The traffic is constant, so you'll not have time to rest your arm. In the morning no shade. After 25 minutes a woman stopped, but she was going only locally (she didn't see my sigh). After one hour I started loosing my hope a bit. I gave myself 0,5 h more before moving to another spot. 5 minuts before the deadline a man stopped and took me to Bratislava. He said that he saw my sign, so I recommend having one here. The driver was kind enough to drop me at a petrol station south of Bratislava, where quickly I got a ride to Budapest.
