Bus stop and an another road where the cars can stop, a lot of traffic go szczytno because of the nearby lake resort. Guy that took me even offered to take me to the neighbouring village to szczytno so i didnt need to go by foot.

Yeah there was a construction work on the road with lights where the cars stopped. Previous driver dropped me here and told me just to go and ask people who were waiting for the green light. Luckily both cars that I asked offered to take me, the second guy drove me about 40km in the direction of Szczytno. But it seems that the construction will end soon so I dont really recommend this spot - besides a nearby camp theres nothing there.

Spot is only good when you need to go in the direction Szczytno. Theres a way leading to a factory, where the cars can stop.

Pretty active gas station, perfect for catching a ride to warsaw. First guy I asked took me.

Bus stop, even though theres a lot of traffic and the cars slow down, they just ignore you. At first I tried to hitch hike with a sign, after 30 minutes I gave up and just sticked my finger up. One guy stopped after 15 minutes and only took me like 10km to the nect town. At least his car was cool, an old volvo from the 60s haha

Nice place for the car to stop, lot of people driving trough the villages in the direction gniezno.

Good for Lithuania, getting as far lift as I got is just pure luck

I was just walking to the next to the road and suddenly one lady stopped and started to reverse. She noticed my banner on my backpack and offered me a ride. Super nice lady bahah

Came out of the bathroom and a guy offered me a ride to berlin. Station seemed super busy so if he hadnt been so nice i would have aimed for a lift further towards hamburg

Had a sign for Hamburg which was too optimistic, therefore the long wait time, bring sign for Berlin instead. Otherwise great spot, lots of traffic. There was a lot of people working at the toll who passed me doing their thing, and they did not bother me once. To get here a friend dropped me on the back road next to the highway, and I jumped the fence 200 m west of the toll where there is a gate that is sturdy and easy to climb, but still about 2 m tall so be prepared.

Lots of cars going not too fast, easy to stop, therefore a great spot, didnt look easy to get here though if you are approaching from konin. Lift to poznan after 1o min, was with a girl

Decent amounts of traffic, there is a spot for cars to pull over just after the bridge, just stand after that, so all in all recommend going here no problem. I was with a girl

Here is the place where you actually should stay if you want to stand with your thumb up at the end of service station. There is buss stop with bus bay that gives enough space even for truck to stop. Directions Suwałki/Białystok

Normally it work much better but today I was just unlucky. Still the best way to get on S8 towards Lithuania and Białystok

Waited for 5 minutes without a sign, and a man took us directly to Gdansk train station so we could go to Mandu and eat our favourite pierogi with carrots and peanut butter

Not the best spot to get to Poland. Tried asking people but most were going to Czechia. Eventually got a ride to the border of Poland with just thumb.

2026 update: if you're going to Berlin - congrats, this is your spot. if you're going east to Poland - in my opinion still the best spot there is to get out of Berlin. you might sit here for hours but no matter the day and time you will *eventually* catch a ride, which isn't always true for other spots. i've never had to spend a night on Michendorf :) it speeds things up to go up to truckers and people with PL plates and ask them in person, especially if you know polish

Got a ride after a small wait, met some other hitchers going towards Poland, really good gas station for both directions. Most cars were going towards Lyon

Theres a incoming way to private house, not that much space to stop, but the cars will still fit there. Theres a lot of slow-coming traffic, mostly local, but a good portion continues to Poland

We didn’t even have time to put down our bags before we got offered a ride in a van taking truck drivers back to Poland. After arriving near Wroclaw, the driver generously invited us to his house for a delicious dinner and homemade cherry compot

Stood with a PL sign, truck came in around 10 - 15 minutes and took me to the border check in Poland.

Talked to quite a few people with no success for the Poland/Warsaw direction before trying it with a sign at the exit. This secured us a ride to Frankfurt (Oder) pretty quickly, but we also got a bit lucky.

One male 40+, with a sigh "BRATISLAVA", one big backpack, a sunny day. On my way from Brno to Budapest (successful). It looks like a good place. The entrance to the pertol station, with loads of space (enough for 2-3 lorries). After the traffic lights, so people drive slowly, and can see you easily. There are also downsides. It's before the big junction, and cars go everywhere, to Prage, Viena, Bratislava, Ostrava (and Poland) and also locally. So, I'd say that a sign is necessary here. The traffic is constant, so you'll not have time to rest your arm. In the morning no shade. After 25 minutes a woman stopped, but she was going only locally (she didn't see my sigh). After one hour I started loosing my hope a bit. I gave myself 0,5 h more before moving to another spot. 5 minuts before the deadline a man stopped and took me to Bratislava. He said that he saw my sign, so I recommend having one here. The driver was kind enough to drop me at a petrol station south of Bratislava, where quickly I got a ride to Budapest.

Bus stop. Cars/trucks are just too fast even the ones that turn towards Poland. Walk to the gas station is much better

TAKE HEED, and if you are going to Germany do NOT get dropped off here. A ride said he would drop me at the BP station, by which I thought he meant the BP on the highway a few kilometers back. No. There is also a BP on the other side of the highway here, but meant for the traffic entering Poland. It seemed too far to walk and so I tried hitching the on-ramp toward Germany, and in the 2.5 hours I waited 39 vehicles entered the highway (21 trucks, 18 cars). I had one offer, to an onramp in the country between there and Cottbus. The only good thing about this on-ramp is that there is a 24-hour supermarket across the road. Unlike the BP across the highway there is a more even spread between truck drivers going to Germany or Poland stopping, as there is also an enormous truck parking facility there. In the morning you’d probably have better luck asking around, and will have some luck asking those who park for the market, though with the attendant legwork and guessing at which direction the truckers are going. If you are dropped here, walk the kilometre south to SPEED gas station, which is where the few trucks that do exit here go to fill up. Don’t bother with the BP; you’ll quickly see that 90% of the traffic is going to Poland. Don’t bother with the BP station, that is, UNLESS it is to get a ride to the Moya gas station 5 km further into Poland. That’s what I eventually did. Run across the highway there to the CORRECT BP when going into Germany. Just about all of the traffic there is heading to Germany, and there is much, much more of it.

Good spot on A4 Higthway when you are traveling to South-East Poland. Now (2026) there is no road-tax so it can be harder but parking still exists.

Decent traffic on a weekend, all going to Poland. It shouldn’t take too long to find a ride.

Not a lot of traffic but normal amount. Tho half of it goes to Ostrava. But eventually got a truck which was going to Katowice so asked to drop off at the gas station in Poland.

3 people, didnt wait long. most traffic from poland to czechia goes this way, cars arent going fast and there's plenty of space to stop

brilliant spot. traffic lights before are inconvenient for drivers. was planning to go to kaunas or poland, but was instantly offerred a right to vilnius.

The place is great. We tried to get out towards Bratislava and unfortunately it was difficult. Many drivers stopped, but unfortunately, most were heading towards northern Poland.
