TAKE HEED, and if you are going to Germany do NOT get dropped off here. A ride said he would drop me at the BP station, by which I thought he meant the BP on the highway a few kilometers back. No. There is also a BP on the other side of the highway here, but meant for the traffic entering Poland. It seemed too far to walk and so I tried hitching the on-ramp toward Germany, and in the 2.5 hours I waited 39 vehicles entered the highway (21 trucks, 18 cars). I had one offer, to an onramp in the country between there and Cottbus. The only good thing about this on-ramp is that there is a 24-hour supermarket across the road. Unlike the BP across the highway there is a more even spread between truck drivers going to Germany or Poland stopping, as there is also an enormous truck parking facility there. In the morning you’d probably have better luck asking around, and will have some luck asking those who park for the market, though with the attendant legwork and guessing at which direction the truckers are going. If you are dropped here, walk the kilometre south to SPEED gas station, which is where the few trucks that do exit here go to fill up. Don’t bother with the BP; you’ll quickly see that 90% of the traffic is going to Poland. Don’t bother with the BP station, that is, UNLESS it is to get a ride to the Moya gas station 5 km further into Poland. That’s what I eventually did. Run across the highway there to the CORRECT BP when going into Germany. Just about all of the traffic there is heading to Germany, and there is much, much more of it.

Good spot on A4 Higthway when you are traveling to South-East Poland. Now (2026) there is no road-tax so it can be harder but parking still exists.

Great spot, the traffic is constant, I hardly had time to even make my sign, the cars and trucks passing without pause. I had an offer to near Katowice within five minutes and took the second offer ten minutes later when they said they’d take me to the next big gas station. I was on my way to Berlin and I would say that this was the better spot than where they took me (Miejsce Obsługi Podróżnych Wirek). I took the city bus from Krakow, there is indeed a fence you have to jump. In the forest to the right of the gate (facing it) you can do so unseen. There’s a spot with a cement post that makes it a bit easier, and I took out my wrench and undid the top screws securing the fence to the post there, making it even easier. Lots of holes that have clearly been repaired, check to see if there’s a new one.

We caught a ride to Suwałki in less then 10 minutes in the early morning hours (a group of builders on their way to the construction site). Slow traffic but the drivers are keen to help out.

Go in both directions to get onto S6 Afternoon not too many cars

Busstop, very close to city centre. Nice little construction shop nearby for Carton! Had a blast here watching people and the tram go by while waiting

In theory it isnt a bad stop to try to get north on the highway, but eventually gave up. It was evening & there were mostly locals.

Good visibility and plenty of space to stop. Lots of traffic, mostly local, but it still shouldn’t be hard to find a car going to Bielsko-Biala or Zywiec.

Za pętlą autobusową jest dobrze łapać. Jest tam pas awaryjny gdzie samochody mogą się zatrzymać.

Good spot to catch a ride to Slovakia xD

Ok station, but late in eaving the traffic is very low. If you want to get a ride further is good to wake up early. Because hikers go by there to Slovakia

Good spot, probably as good as all station here, because there is an only way in Zakopane direction. Take into consideration that traffic in Zakopane direction will be lower in late afternoon/eavning

Very very low traffic(one car per 5minutes or less, sic!) even if expressway is nearby. I would not recomand it to stop there.

Very good station with Mcdonald, a lot of people heading towards southern Poland by S7

As there is no good spot to get in Krakow direction (S7) you can treat this station as transfer point to get to s7

Decent traffic on a weekend, all going to Poland. It shouldn’t take too long to find a ride.

Not a lot of traffic but normal amount. Tho half of it goes to Ostrava. But eventually got a truck which was going to Katowice so asked to drop off at the gas station in Poland.

brilliant spot. traffic lights before are inconvenient for drivers. was planning to go to kaunas or poland, but was instantly offerred a right to vilnius.

The place is great. We tried to get out towards Bratislava and unfortunately it was difficult. Many drivers stopped, but unfortunately, most were heading towards northern Poland.

Amazing spot both towards LT or south in Poland, it's a huge truckers base and I will guarantee you will find someone willing to take you the either direction, it takes about 10 minutes for a long distance ride, definitely come here and ignore the Szypliszki hate, when you are fine with talking with the people

I also find this petrol station amazing, been twice, found both times a car to Poland, with last time the first car being asked going all the way to south of Warszawa. Great petrol station definitely, wait times of 5-25 minutes expected to find a ride the least to Polish border

We found couple from Poland after only 5minutes, the took us to Bratislava. Great spot.

We had a hard time finding a ride toward Poland on a Sunday. Two people (male and female) very few car. We asked directly to people in the petrol station, lot of them said no. Eventually one couple changed opinion and took us to the next city. Maybe we had bad luck because of Sunday, controls at the border....

I wanted to go to Heidelberg. It was already dark and it was Saturday... A group of several polish truck drivers were sleeping there until Monday, going back to Poland. Asked around for about 1.5 hours, almost no traffic, so I decided to settle for a ride to Karlsruhe and catching a train to Heidelberg. The spot should be good, but my timing and luck were bad.

Decent spot, I don't think you can do much better in the Poland direction.

I needed to get out of Liberec in the direction of Jablonec / Poland. I asked around here, and one guy brought me to a much better spot near Jablonec.

While heading to Ireland, a family heading home from Poland took me with them for a night in their van and even offered me a night in their guest room.
