Started very early with no cars, but a lot of cars coming out of Lisbon to the westernmost point of europe during the day and driving back in the evening

Only one road and it was early in the morning. Hitchhiked straight in front of the campsite and got a friendly ride that took me to the highway

Reasonabley good spot to get south. Got s ride that could have taken me south of Lisbon, but only went s short distance.

Very easy to get a ride to the airport. In general hitchhiking in the Azores is very easy, the only issue is some places might be quite empty, so choose your route having that in mind.

I arrived by plane in the evening around 10pm, it was already dark. There was already one girl hh towards albufeira. I was heading to Huelva. I was very lucky and after 10min got a ride straight to Huelva but without the girl hh there with me I'm not sure how long I would wait there. Probably I would have to sleep in the airport and in the morning get to the Faro city.

Walked from albufeira to here with our sign to faro and stopped at the roundabout. Good place, waited there only for 10min to find a car going to faro airport

Quite a bad spot to stop… guy working at the toll station told us we can’t stand there. Had to stand at a parking space few meters after where people stop to take picture of an algarve sign.

Waited for 30minutes with an algarve sign, Nobody stopped. After asking around for 5min if anyone was going to the south a guy took us down the highway for 20km, anything helps ;)

Outra Margem sign as mentioned before worked perfectly, guy took us two to the next gas station in the other side of the Tejo.

Very easy to catch a ride to Braga, there was many cars on saturday evening

We were super lucky that day. We thought of going by train but before we gave ourselves chance with hitchhiking. A car stopped in 2 minutes and took us directly to Porto

After I waited for an hour with a sign "Espanha", a guy approached me and took me after Salamanca. Apparently, many people at the station were willing to take me but thought Spain was too far. Be patient!

I tried the day before and many people stop, unfortunately they were all going to Caldas da Rainha or to Lisboa. I was advised not to use my sign "France" as no one was going there obviously. I tried the next day with a sign "Santarém" and the first car stopped!

On visait Madrid , on s'est mis ici pour l'emplacement qui semblait convenir et selon les quelques avis positifs. Assez chaotique, 1 voiture s'est arrêtée mais allait à 20 km plus loin. En soit c'est un bon lieu pour attendre le miracle : toilettes et points d'eau, ravito en bouffe ( bon 4 balles le paquet de Pringles classique...) , espace pour dormir. On a scotché 2 panneaux : "Madrid" et "Portugal" ( sait-on jamais !) mais ça n'a po marché. On était contraint par les horaires , donc youplaboum on se fait un panneau "Valencia" , et en 10 minutes nous voilà revenu à notre point de départ... C'est peut être un bon spot pour aller à Madrid puisque c'est "qu'à" 3h45 de route , mais bon c'est pas en 1 fois qu'on peut juger l'emplacement

we got here late in the evening and decided to camp by the lake behind the gas station, and hitch in the morning, towards Portugal. found a ride do Merida. good place, there was a lot of traffic in this highway

we got a ride here from Tarifa, and was a great sunset place to find a ride to sevilla (we chose a gas station 1h south of sevilla, to hitch onwards to Portugal). possible both to thumb and to wait for cars to stop for gas.

Not so many cars but its a good place direction to sanabria,verin,portugal

Eaven though it was dark we got taken by to surfers just by walking up to people who were just going threw the paying station. The spot is a dream and helped us on our voyage from Germany to Portugal. No luck needed!

Wort place to go to Portugal. All spanish people, you know... A old french couple took me to Vilar Formoso. In Vilar I couldn't hitchhike more and I had to take train to Guarda and then to Porto.

Very good place to go to Portugal. A French Couple took me in their camper, It was amazing,we were playing music, playing with their dog, and meeting them, sooo nice people, I wish they had a good life. Thank youu Alizé and Gabin

I tried asking around at the gas station but all the cars were full or we're going towards Salamanca. There are a lot of truck drivers and foreigners (France, UK, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland...) at the gas station, but many are families. After I decided moving to the entrance of the highway, a Spanish guy exited from the highway, and promised me to take me to Valladolid (my sign). Turns out he was going further and I ended up in Burgos.

In summer crowded place with a lot of ppl heading west of Spain or Portugal (mainly Porto). Out of the season maybe not that good place. After few minutes I found a couple who give me a lift to Guimaraes.

Hitchhiked twice from here, twice got to the service station before Vigo. Going south to Portugal. Sign Potro/Portugal

I tried to hitchhike from here for about 15 minutes wanting to go direction Portugal. But got twice offered direction Noia. Then I decided to go to the other side of the roundabout. For this direction much better, more traffic in the right direction. Even if it seems like difficult to walk across, just find yourself the minute with less cars and run across. There is a better place later.

We weretrying for 2hours but it was because we were there on Sundays evening and there wasńt any traffic in direction to Portugal. There is restaurant and you can charge your phone at the gas station.

Great spot for Portugal. Easy to reach with a bus and some walking. Plenty of room to pull over. Spanish people don't pick up hitchhikers too often so hope for some tourists or portuguese people.

A lot of space to park, the problem is there is no good spot to go to Poitiers in Nantes. From here you will certainly arrive (i did it a lot of times) in la Haye Fouassiere or Vallet, at the entry of the national road, witch are better spots than here but still it is not really good. If you are lucky you may arrive in Cholet, but sorry, Cholet is the worst city to hitchhack, i now few people who've got their worst record of time waiting there (me too before it was beaten in Portugal) After Bressuire everything will go easy to Poitiers-Limoges, from now i take a BlaBlaCar to Bressuire everytime (Cholet is a trauma 😂)

No luck today with hitchhiking in Portugal, waited for 3 hours on a Sunday morning until afternoon, which is so far my first that long of a wait ever, and then eventually took a train and then a bus to Faro, as I had a flight next morning from there.

It’s little bit dangerous to go in this spot, you have to cross a way to turn around the roundabout, but it’s a national road (legal). But your are sure about one things : people are going to Portugal and car can stop (even if it’s dangerous). Donc benef 🌸
