Got an incredible ride with an old super nice Romanian guy. Once we arrived in Arad he took me to the town hall for a tour, then he showed me around the city, brought me home for lunch and gave me 200 lei

Ok, this is likely a great spot, but I just didn´t have a lot of luck. It was night and asking around, the majority go just locally, don´t speak English, or are going on vacation with full cars. But after 4 hours asking around, I found some Slovaks who took me to Bucharest.

Got a ride directly to Budapest. REALLY GOOD SPOT FROM CLUJ GO THERE NOT THE NOD N THING. Plenty of space to stop and people way more willing to help! Thanks Ferenz

One guy stopped but he asked money, second one stopped thanks Christian. Not a lot of room to stop but people go to Cluj from there. Better than the other spot IMO

So the spot is not that bad but only one car stopped in 2 hours and he was not going in that direction. We have been picked up by Tiberiu which is a truck driver, imagine how possible for a car it is to stop for a bit. But nobody did... Got a lift to Tg. Mures, we will see there to go to Cluj. I think it is the best spot in the city and we might have been unlucky BUT I advise to go outside the city maybe and try at the next gas station I think it's reachable by foot

Ride for Timisoara thanks Bogdan. Lot of traffic and slow speed thanks to the roundabout, good room for cars to stop too :) Use a sign, I can tell I had more feedback with than without.

Not an ideal spot to hitch to Serbia since its the start of the town, but we got dropped off here and we got picked up in 3 minutes

We walked on the road from the board 3km for about 30 mins before a car stopped. The road is extremely empty and unused, but it seems like people are very open to hitchhikers here.

Waited there half hour, pointless. Cars from Bucarest or the periphery. Even going to Ploiesti you won't find a lot of cars going there. Better to take the bus to the airport!! Way easier especially for Ploiesti, can bé lucky for Brašov top. Actually someone was going there but asked for money like often in Romania.

So far the best spot in the area. Big traffic, visibility and room to stop. We weren't that lucky and still waited 50 minutes but that's fair! Thanks Arnika, it was cold outside :)

Picked up fast to Sinaia but was also asked close to Brasov. Thanks Marian! Really good way to go Brasov.

Got a lift to Ploiesti thanks Drago. Way more plate with PH (Ploiesti) and BV (Brasov). IMO better option than the marks before. People care more about you in this case station. Get ready because it's hard to get out of Bucarest lol. We waited +2 hours in the bus station Gara Baneasa.

Nobody stopped in about 2 hours. The other hitchhikers have been really lucky I think. Moving to the gas station nearby

Good spot but not a lot of room for cars to stop. We tried for 30 mn walking from Costesti but nobody stopped. Good to go to Constanta. We asked to be dropped in Lazu because there is the highway and a gas station to go to Bucarest.

No one wanted to give me a ride at the truck stop, so I got frustrated and was going to walk across the border to Romania. But as I was walking past a gas station, I saw a car and asked if he can take me across the border. It turned out that he was going to Bucharest.

Busy Petrol station, but no one was going towards Romania. Many people to Budapest though. We ended up going to the other side of the roundabout which seems to be very good if you want to go east

We stood in front of the bus station, there is enough space to stop and the cars don't go super fast. Took us 15 minutes to get a ride to the next town on our way to romania

We arrived at 20:00 and didnt get a ride that day. Next day we also didnt get away, we were trying to get to northern romania. Good Infrastructure but no lifts. Might be good for other directions

Don't accept rides to Csengele if you want to go to Serbia, you may eventually get lucky and get out of this godforsaken place but you'll lose a lot of time trying, mostly tourists with packed cars or truck drivers heading towards Romania stop there

Got ride straight to Romania after standing there with i sign saying HU/ROM. It wasn't exactly busy here tho, we were lucky.

Managed to hitch a ride straight to Romania. Plenty of traffic towards Hungary, Romania and Serbia, especially on fridays and saturdays. Great spot certainly worth the walk from the nearest Bratislava bus stop ("Čunovské jazerá").

Great spot if you're travelling to Romania, not so great for Serbia. There's a city bus stop 10 minutes walk west the station from where you can get to Szeged and then the next OMV station by bus, which is 3km from the border. A driver told us you can only cross the border on foot on the crossing Horgos 2, but not on the highway one, so be aware of that.

We reached late at night and decided to wait for the morning to continue hitchhiking. The restaurant is cheap, the food is good and it's open 24h. There's also a 24h service station with cozy sofas to sleep in and power sockets. Buy water at the service station rather than the restaurant, it's 5 times cheaper for the same amount. In the morning a truck driver gave us a lift to Lugoj in Romania, although we could have gone further to Sibiu. There are many Romanians passing by, go talk to the people rather than showing your sign. If you're heading to Serbia ask for Szeged, sometimes that's as far as they can take you before the border.

Still possible to walk bridge from Romania to Bulgaria as of december '23, but I hitched a lift to Ruse here.

Big amount of cars to Romania. You can very easily aim Szeged in one I tried at the gas station onAustrian side and then restaurant on Hungarian side. Side note: slept near the gas station and got woken up at 4am by Austrian military

Gas station with traffic. Mode of it goes to Romania but you have to be lucky and keep asking. I asked to the Serbian border and they ended taking me to Sofia (BG). You won’t have a better spot anyways

A big station where all trucks stop when they're going to Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, Romania and further. Once even the driver asked me first where I'm traveling when I arrived at the station, so it's really very easy. The best time is on Sunday evening because often the road to Slovakia is closed till 10pm and a lot of trucks are waiting for it to be open. There's a nice restaurant and you can exchange currency.

Small station, majority of cars drive to Ukraine, but I was trying to get to Romania, so probably it's easier if you are going to UA. The trucks stop only when they have to take a long 12h break to sleep.

I had sign with direction Budapest ( wanted to go to Romania ) After 5 minutes stopped the romanian car and took me almost 600km to Romania.

road with almost no place to stop except pathwalk, but its a main road to slovakia, hungary and romania. Romanian truck stopped and took me straight to Oradea.
