good place to take a ride but there were suspect guys from middle east and they started coming to us, someone stopped in last minute before fight

If you survive deadly romanian summer heat and ignore all marshutkas you can hitchhike on this bus station towards Deva or even Timisoara

I believe best spot from.Hunedoara to Deva

On this wanabe parking is relatively easy to hitchhike towards Hateg od even Dinopark on the other crossroad. May take some minutes thought, bcs low traffic

If you go alongside this road you can with some luck hitchhike friendly lads who are willing to take smelly hikermans towards Hateg

Immediately after we started hitchhiking lovely chap stopped and took us directly to Hunedoara's castle through beautiful hilly countryside. Note - this route is perhaps significantly slower then via Calan if u wanted go to highway in Deva. Plus in this point is not much room for cars to stop.

Lots of space to pull over, definitely possible to get a ride directly to Bulgaria as many cars have Bulgarian plates. With my BG sign I got taken to Giurgiu, the driver offered to take me to the bridge toll booth but I got off at the Kaufland because I needed food instead.

I suggest waiting at the bus stop after the roundabout as cars are slower. Took me a bit because the first car wanted money but I got a ride out of Bucharest towards Giurgiu

Got dropped there by my last driver which wasn’t ideal but the shoulder was big enough for cars to stop. Got a ride in a Moldova registered Porsche all the way to Bucharest, probably gained a whole hour by the outrageous speeds he was going on the national road.

Things got much better after I moved here from the spot lower down. I suggest having a sign to Brăila, as people won’t pick you up to help you unless they’re going the entire way (my driver was confused at first where I was going and I had to shout Brăila for him to stop).

Not very good as there’s no space to stop. Only had a bus stopping that wanted me to pay.

Going to Chișinău with an MD sign, the first guys that stopped didn’t want to take me with my french passport but then I got a ride directly to Chișinău

Nice runoff and side road for cars to stop, best spot for Iaşi in my opinion

Might take some time to get a ride across the Carpathians to Piatra Neamț but the views are really worth it.

Immediately got a ride to Gyergyó/Gheorgheni by a friendly Székely lady despite the little runoff

Had a Gyergyó sign but a friendly Székely guy offered to take me to the next roundabout a bit further out

Hitchhiked from here because the spot further up the road didn’t feel safe especially at night. Got a ride to Sepsiszentgyörgy/Sfântu Gheorghe quickly despite the darkness (it’s well lit up)

Big runoff for cars to pull over, it’s the best way to get to the highway from Deva so it works even if going east. I got a ride to Sibiu/Nagyszeben

Waited there half hour, pointless. Cars from Bucarest or the periphery. Even going to Ploiesti you won't find a lot of cars going there. Better to take the bus to the airport!! Way easier especially for Ploiesti, can bé lucky for Brašov top. Actually someone was going there but asked for money like often in Romania.

No one wanted to give me a ride at the truck stop, so I got frustrated and was going to walk across the border to Romania. But as I was walking past a gas station, I saw a car and asked if he can take me across the border. It turned out that he was going to Bucharest.

Busy Petrol station, but no one was going towards Romania. Many people to Budapest though. We ended up going to the other side of the roundabout which seems to be very good if you want to go east

We stood in front of the bus station, there is enough space to stop and the cars don't go super fast. Took us 15 minutes to get a ride to the next town on our way to romania

We arrived at 20:00 and didnt get a ride that day. Next day we also didnt get away, we were trying to get to northern romania. Good Infrastructure but no lifts. Might be good for other directions

Don't accept rides to Csengele if you want to go to Serbia, you may eventually get lucky and get out of this godforsaken place but you'll lose a lot of time trying, mostly tourists with packed cars or truck drivers heading towards Romania stop there

Got ride straight to Romania after standing there with i sign saying HU/ROM. It wasn't exactly busy here tho, we were lucky.

Managed to hitch a ride straight to Romania. Plenty of traffic towards Hungary, Romania and Serbia, especially on fridays and saturdays. Great spot certainly worth the walk from the nearest Bratislava bus stop ("Čunovské jazerá").

Amazing spot. We have asked the truck driver from Romania and he took me and my boyfriend :)

restaurant visited by many travellers coming from and going to Romania, it's open 24/7, so always people there to ask, food is great too :)

Was quickly picked up by locals, and dropped off at the border. A lot of cars passing by to Romania

Great spot if you're travelling to Romania, not so great for Serbia. There's a city bus stop 10 minutes walk west the station from where you can get to Szeged and then the next OMV station by bus, which is 3km from the border. A driver told us you can only cross the border on foot on the crossing Horgos 2, but not on the highway one, so be aware of that.

We reached late at night and decided to wait for the morning to continue hitchhiking. The restaurant is cheap, the food is good and it's open 24h. There's also a 24h service station with cozy sofas to sleep in and power sockets. Buy water at the service station rather than the restaurant, it's 5 times cheaper for the same amount. In the morning a truck driver gave us a lift to Lugoj in Romania, although we could have gone further to Sibiu. There are many Romanians passing by, go talk to the people rather than showing your sign. If you're heading to Serbia ask for Szeged, sometimes that's as far as they can take you before the border.

Still possible to walk bridge from Romania to Bulgaria as of december '23, but I hitched a lift to Ruse here.

Big amount of cars to Romania. You can very easily aim Szeged in one I tried at the gas station onAustrian side and then restaurant on Hungarian side. Side note: slept near the gas station and got woken up at 4am by Austrian military

Gas station with traffic. Mode of it goes to Romania but you have to be lucky and keep asking. I asked to the Serbian border and they ended taking me to Sofia (BG). You won’t have a better spot anyways

A big station where all trucks stop when they're going to Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, Romania and further. Once even the driver asked me first where I'm traveling when I arrived at the station, so it's really very easy. The best time is on Sunday evening because often the road to Slovakia is closed till 10pm and a lot of trucks are waiting for it to be open. There's a nice restaurant and you can exchange currency.

Small station, majority of cars drive to Ukraine, but I was trying to get to Romania, so probably it's easier if you are going to UA. The trucks stop only when they have to take a long 12h break to sleep.

I had sign with direction Budapest ( wanted to go to Romania ) After 5 minutes stopped the romanian car and took me almost 600km to Romania.
