We were offered a ride, but the driver was not going to out intended destination. Few cars on the road, we ended Up talking the train.

Maybe It was just luck, but a very nice guy heading to Poland took us all the way to our final destination while we were disscussing different options to get there.

We were walking to the Slovak Paradise national park, and raising the thumb while walking down the road.

We tried to hitch a ride at the end of the of the parking lot, but for 3,5 hours nothing. Then we went to the pump and asked around and after 10 minutes we got a ride all the way to Szeged.

The cars are going FAST, so stand in a place that gives drivers enough room to slow down. I was thumbing holding a "Polska" sign, hoping for a ride to Żywiec or Bielsko-Biała. I got super lucky too - a truck pulled over at the bus stop, without even seeing me, just to fix his navigation. I assumed he had stopped for me, so I walked up and asked - he ended up taking me. Because of his navigation's mistake we had to turn around and go to Poland through Dolny Kubin and then Chyżne border crossing, which is the route I originally planned. After waiting with him for his mandatory 45-minute break, he took me to the outskirts of Kraków which was my ultimate destination :)

Tried hitchhiking in the morning with a "Polska" sign. I think most of the cars going east are just people who exited the highway and are going to Zilina. If you want to go north towards Poland/Czech Republic (as I did) I suggest taking a city bus to Brodno and hitchhiking at the bus stop along the north-bound highway.

I stood here for two hours with a sign (first saying "D. Kubin" and then "RK/DK" - regional codes for Ruzemberok and Dolny Kubin), but noone stopped. Judging from the licence plates of the cars passing by, it might be a good spot to go to Martin. There were also a lot of trucks with polish and czech licence plates, but there wasn't enough space for them to pull over.

The Ondrejovova bus stop is separated from "car lanes" by a bus lane, so I did what the other review suggested - I was thumbing with a sign right after the bus stop so that people could stop at the lane entering the gas station. It worked liked a charm and after 20 minutes I got a ride all the way to Zilina.

Waited here for 2 hours (1pm to 3pm) with a sign saying "Zilina" but noone stopped. There is A LOT of traffic. Big downsides are that 1) the cars are going pretty fast and 2) pulling over might seem a bit dodgy - there is a wide lane separated with a continuous line (emergency lane?), so it's probably not exactly legal to stop there, but I had seen plenty of people do it regardless. I then moved to a bus stop at Gagarinova street, which worked much better.

There are not a lot of cars passing by, but is a nice spot if you want to go to towns in the surroundings.

only cars to budapest. do this: get to gas station as close to budapest, but before the turn to austria/slovakia and continue there. worked for me.

This is not really a good spot as most people are just coming to Brno. To go to Slovakia/Austria it might be better to head for gas stations on respective roads. After around 20 minutes of asking around a guy offered to take us all the way to Szombathely (Hungary).

I mean its all right. We got a ride to Bratislava after 10 minutes but I think we were very lucky, most of the traffic is austrian taxis, few cars from Slovakia but I wouldnt try getting a ride to Budapest or Hungary for that matter, almost no hungarian cars.

Very little traffic, most of it local. Probably better to ask here, but most won’t be going past Vac. I was thumbing with a sign (‘E77 - Krakow) and had a couple of offers that far or nearer until a woman heading to the border with Slovakia eventually took me. Station bathroom is paid or with purchase. Truckers were mostly there to take their pausa or going to a nearby warehouse.

(M+F), it took us like 15 minutes to find a ride towards Brno. There are a lot of trucks, and a lot of traffic towards Brno and Slovakia.

Ok station, but late in eaving the traffic is very low. If you want to get a ride further is good to wake up early. Because hikers go by there to Slovakia

only place from Mór towards Slovakia. there is a place to stop. not so much traffic because regular road.

Not so frequent gas station, but last in Slovakia in a way to Austria/Hungary. We (couple) spent some time here and asking people directly and also with sign to Vienna/Graz, but we didn’t manage it to Graz that day.

Quite good place, not so many cars, but few of them go to Bratislava. Some cars are a bit full because of workers groups. Anyway, you can find your ride to south of Slovakia from here.

I think the spot is great to go Slovakia but I was even luckier, I managed to go to Miskolc, Hungary with a Slovakia sign. The cars can see you from a distance and the bus stop is perfect for stopping.

A lot of traffic, mostly - but not only - cars from Germany, Austria, but also Hungary, Slovakia and Czechia. However! Germans won't take you, so it is better not to waste time with them...
