Honestly shocked that others say that this spot is shit for Budapest and good for Vienna — I had exactly the opposite experience hitchhiking to Austria! Three hours waiting with a sign for ‘Graz’ (I was on my way to Zagreb), and the only offer in that direction that I got was to a town just over the border. Yet three people stopped to ask if going to Budapest would help, and two more people stopped to apologize that they were going to Budapest! I had banked on people going to Vienna making the connection that Vienna is on the way to Graz, but as hour three closed I made a sign for Vienna, and it was STILL another hour. There is no shade at the on-ramp and it gets hot. The traffic is a steady trickle but honestly not that much. I would try another spot next time, no question. Lots of space in the surrounding area to camp unseen, though, if this spot does serve you. I walked here from the end of the tram line at night to cross the highway with less traffic and start early (not that the early start helped!), and was at least well rested for the frustration.

Decent traffic on a weekend, all going to Poland. It shouldn’t take too long to find a ride.

Good spot, many cars going north

Genuinely the best place I have hitchhiked in my life. As s0on as I arrived, someone asked if I was going to Kosice and gave me a lift. Very easy, there's a highway- plenty of traffic and a place for lots of cars to be at, at the Mcdonalnds.

Quite a funnel here from towns below to the highway. All the Bratislava and Nitra traffic turns left, and all Zvolen traffic goes straight. It should be really easy to get to Nitra and Bratislava, in that case stand after the turn. I went towards Zvolen which meant much less traffic there.

Probably lucky - I was thumbing at the traffic and first car was going to Bratislava.

Hitchhiked 2 or 3 times from this new big rest area. If you're coming from the east on the highway to Bratislava, but your driver is only going to Nitra or Trnava, this is your best spot to get out. Very easy to thumb at the exit or stand with a BA sign and get to Bratislava.

Tried two more times to go from here and it took me 1-2 hours. Not much traffic during weekdays, most traffic is local or to Malacky, which is not so helpful when trying to go to CZ.

Petrol station near transit road to Hungary, although on opposite side of the road :< . You can asked around or go on opposite side and catch on bus station

Low traffic on Sunday, if you cannot catch ride it is good to take a bus to bigger city like Banska Bystryca

I was here very early in the moring on a weekday so most of cars were stopping for coffee or something before going gor work in Bratislava. So asked trucks around and got a ride to Brno. Also there was a lot of trucks going to Bratislava so maybe its better to go to gas station further down the highway?

brilliant. just stood with a sign near entrance. a lot of german/czech/slovak cars. you can also cross the highway via the bridge and go the other way.

a few cars. you must have insane luck to pull a brno ride here. I asked around the gas pumps and got a ride to small slovak town Sekule, from which walked 10 min to the highway gas station and it was ezzz from there.

cars go fast, uncomfortable to stop and everyone who turns right to the mall is mostly locals. if you signal with a sign you also irritate the turning drivers. few CZ cars and they are all on the opposite lane. leaving Bratislava sucks. ask around the gas station to bring you to the highway or any city in the north from which you can walk to highway petrol station.

I GOT INSANELY LUCKY HERE. 22:00, solo male, dark already. First truck driver took me straight to Budapest.

Very little traffic, most of it local. Probably better to ask here, but most won’t be going past Vac. I was thumbing with a sign (‘E77 - Krakow) and had a couple of offers that far or nearer until a woman heading to the border with Slovakia eventually took me. Station bathroom is paid or with purchase. Truckers were mostly there to take their pausa or going to a nearby warehouse.

(M+F), it took us like 15 minutes to find a ride towards Brno. There are a lot of trucks, and a lot of traffic towards Brno and Slovakia.

Ok station, but late in eaving the traffic is very low. If you want to get a ride further is good to wake up early. Because hikers go by there to Slovakia

only place from Mór towards Slovakia. there is a place to stop. not so much traffic because regular road.

Not so frequent gas station, but last in Slovakia in a way to Austria/Hungary. We (couple) spent some time here and asking people directly and also with sign to Vienna/Graz, but we didn’t manage it to Graz that day.

Quite good place, not so many cars, but few of them go to Bratislava. Some cars are a bit full because of workers groups. Anyway, you can find your ride to south of Slovakia from here.

Waited at the end with Brno sign. Got ride to a gas station from where we got ride in few seconds to Slovakia.

I think the spot is great to go Slovakia but I was even luckier, I managed to go to Miskolc, Hungary with a Slovakia sign. The cars can see you from a distance and the bus stop is perfect for stopping.

A lot of traffic, mostly - but not only - cars from Germany, Austria, but also Hungary, Slovakia and Czechia. However! Germans won't take you, so it is better not to waste time with them...

Pretty unlucky. There was construction work and no one was going to Slovakia. Took a ride to Zakopane in the end

Quickly got a ride in our direction. We wanted to go to Slovakia but it didn't seem like anyone was going there. If you want to go to Zakopane it should be pretty easy

Not too much traffic and cars coming from the main road are going quite fast, try to stand somewhere where road signs won’t hide you from them. Not ideal, but basically all traffic to eastern Slovakia from this part of Poland goes through here. Ideally avoid getting dropped here and get a direct ride to Slovakia from further north.

With SK/Prešov sign, got picked up by a fellow hitchhiker going to Białka almost immediately. Be careful about where you get dropped tho, all the traffic going to Slovakia follows the main road but not all spots are safe.

Many cars going slowly and leaving Krakow, lots of space for them to pull over at the bus stop but be careful because you have to stand on a slim patch of grass for drivers to see you. With a sign saying SK I got a ride to Nowy Targ by a guy going to Slovakia but not the right direction.

Got a ride to Krakow in 5 minutes. Slow traffic and everyone heading for Slovakia is coming through here because the highway is not finished.
