Got a ride here after asking a lot of person around. I wanted to go north from here (heading to Stockholm), and met a nice couple who took me to Rydebäck ( very nice place to camp there ).

As I was hitching here, it was pretty late in the day and pretty late in the season as well, but still, a decent number of cars were going south. Some local traffic, some foreigners (plenty of fishermen going back south). Usually pretty stuffed cars, but after around half an hour, I found a car going to southern Denmark.

I hit the jackpot here. Within a few minutes, I got a ride directly to Malmö from nice Dutch lads. Overall, I think this is a good station to find a car for a long distance, a few foreign plates.

Did not feel that safe, but I got a ride to a better spot by a nice Turkish guy. There isn't really a place to stop safely, but there are a decent number of cars, so hopefully you will find a ride.

I did not like this place. I got stuck here for a long time. I was hitching directly on the ramp and then moved just on the roundabout, because the ramp did not feel safe. After more than an hour, an awesome Austrian girl on her adventure took me all the way to Stockholm, but I don't think you will get this lucky. Maybe you might be better off asking around the gas station, but there are cars going in all directions.

A very good spot, slow cars, everybody going to Sundsvall. A bus stop to pull over. Just make sure that you are getting to some good spot, because hitching here could be a bit tricky.

I was hitching just north of the gas station crossroad, but after more than half an hour, I moved here and think this is a better spot. I got a ride within 15 minutes. The cars are not slow, but you can be seen from a distance, and there is a bus stop here.

I found turist going to Nordkap thru Halti and then back to Stockholm. JACKPOT

If you want to go to Denmark just walk up to cars with danish lisence plates and ask them. I got a ride from the second car i asked. Gasoline is currently cheaper in sweden than in denmark so many danish cars stop here to fill up their cars before they go back to denmark.

If you are travelling to Malmö this is a great spot. People in Skåne are very helpful and most people here are going to Malmö.

I got a ride all the way to helsingborg from the first car i asked. This is a good spot to walk up to people and just ask for a ride. Here you can find people travelling long distances.

If you can catch the commuter traffic then many cars will pass you here. I could not really find a safe spot to stand closer to the on ramp.

I was lucky and only had to wait for a very short while, but you might be stock here for a long time

The cars are driving slowly and can easily stop for you, but people in Stockholm generally don´t want to pick up hitchhikers. It is a good spot but they will probably not bring you very far and you might have to wait a long time. Most cars driving here are only communting within the stockholm region.

I was lucky and got a ride immediatly. The cars might honk or wave at you as a to communicate that they want to give you a ride while standing at the red light since it can be difficult to pull over during heavy traffic, so pay attention behind you on the cars that have already passed

Almost all cars are going south on the E4, but most cars are not going any further than stockholm. This is probably the best spot to leave uppsala going south. The cars drive slowly in the roundabout and have the ability to stop here by pulling onto the first exit on the roundabout.

As of August 2026, there is a road construction (very slow cars) here and a space to pull over (bus stop). Just check if the construction is still here. It took me about 10 minutes to find a ride to Docksta.

It was a pretty decent spot. I tried both the cars coming from Pitea and the cars directly on the highway, one of them I hitched, but it was mostly luck, there was very little traffic in the evening. And there is some place to pull over. Not much, but still a decent spot.

This is a good spot, I got picked up by the first car. There is a space to pull over. An awesome deaf/mute lady picked me up and brought me to Pitea. It was a really interesting experience.

Its a good gas Station to be dropped of it has a lot of traffic and a candy shop :p. There are also some lakes perfect for camping, that are reachable by hiking trail. As always in sweden you may have to ask around at the gas station to get a ride. We were very lucky and managed to get a ride to Stockholm by a spanish vanlifer.

Good spot to get to Sweden, but its hard to get a ride further than Malmö

I believe this is a great one for Svappavaara and going south. Visibility is good, cars are not so slow, but there is a good space to pull over (bus stop). It took a pretty long time, but you are in Sweden after all. Traffic light as expected in the north.

On paper best spot. It is enteren co highway, a lot of cars, cars go over speed bumb (they are slow), good visiabilty, lots of place to stop on bus station or little behind. (I was staing on bus stop) But...! Swedish people dont stop at all (at leqst here) I was standing in the rain for 3 and a half hours with sign E4 (way Stockholm) and I got 2 foriners who stoped me but going other directions (malmo, gothebourg) and one fat kid showing me a finger xd. After a long time guy from honkong who lives here stoped me and told me how hard is it to actualy hichike in sweden amd got me to some gasstation where he found me ride to gothobourg. Also the way to Jönköpink is dead so unles you get a ride from here straight up dont take a ride you will get stuck. If you want to go to stockhol Take it thru Gothebourg it is easyer (more people).

So many trucks all fueling up. Asked around with a sign and got scooped up by a guy going up to Sweden! Jumped out before Duisburg.

Cars go very fast, but if they want to stop, they can. There is a SOS spot so it is good. So far, Norway seems better than Sweden for hitchhiking. 2 guys + sign Hønefoss

Seems like a good spot. Lidl near is always good. But somehow we waited a long time before someone took us. A lot of traffic but Sweden is probably hard to hitchhike overall. Two guys with sign Malmö. In the end a woman stopped and took us directly.

lonnnnng spot ahahah a lot of traffic but not that much of ppl going to sweden (like stockholm) if ur trying to get to stockholm you’ll have to be very patient, most of the people take the train or plane to get there hopefully a guy arrived 2h after under rain and dropped me to arjang (100km from oslo) good luck but the spot if perfect, a lot of space for cars to stop 😺

Low traffic and mostly local so getting such long lift is just me being lucky but still good stop towards Sweden

After I started asking people I found almost instantly a ride. Some guys that came from Romania and went to work to Sweden came through there and gave me a Ride.

Somehow this route worked for me already like 3 times towards Jönköping and 5 times to Växjö. All the time quite smooth considering it's Sweden (5-30min waiting). And actually I stood not here, but a bit south (500m, close to where the police radar camera is.), there there was a nice place to stop also. I used the JKPG sign to go north.

Welcome to Sweden. Hundreds of cars passing by without even blinking at you. At the highway there was an accident and a big traffic jam. Many people were therefore navigated to exit the highway through this gas station. I was standing at the exit to the regional road with a Ljungby sign. It was basically the whole highway passing me but with no interest. After an hour (probably like 200 cars) a guy from Kosovo took me to my destination Växjö. <3

Stood with a SE sign, got lucky and got to Glumslöv rest area. But I guess it was just luck, maybe for getting to sweden it would still be safer to get dropped off at the airport instead of here with my last ride.

i don’t get the same impression as the guy that rate the spot before that spot work perfectly for me, i got a sign with ‘verberg’ on it and a car just drop in göteborg ahahah idk if i was just lucky but anyway it has work maybe just try with short destination it’s could be easier idk🙂 stay safe and smile (it helps a lot in sweden ahahah) good luck !!

really nice spot to get to sweden by a ferry !! i found a guy with a boat that just drop me in holsinbourg with him on his boat 😸😸 btw a lot of cars on that spot and space for cars to stop just in front of the gas station. place yourself on the bicyle line (if u find no one try to get to the ferry before and ask cars to enter to get the ferry for free - the guy told me to do that at first) wish u good luck😌

A better hitchhiking spot probably doesn’t exist. It’s the entrance to the road that connects north to south Sweden. Tourists, locals, workers, really anyone going to Sweden has to take this E4 road. Stick your thumb out, or make sign if you really want to be specific, because this will help you get far into Sweden, wherever it may be. It might even be better if you take this road if you are planning to go to Kiruna or/and Norway, since the road from Töre has more traffic then the ones in Finland and the Swedish road next to the Torneå river. ==> highly recommend!

No emergency lane. Three lanes, a lot of cars and a big bike lane. Danes won't stop here The spot further away at highway entry is very hectic too. Overall not a great spot if aiming for sweden. Going to airport instead

stood there in rain but got a nice ride to Česká Kamenice in like 20mins.. on my way to Sweden:)
