Taken easily to the border for free ! M45

To come to this road, several Marshutka pass by. I took #100 but apparently also #52 go. I was taken by a local a bit further out of the city to go to Tashkent.

Here the funny guy dropped me and ask a police officer to stop a car for me. He stopped one Marshutka and the people inside (especially one old guy) help me hitchhike another Marshutka to the city center

This toll is good spot to go to Khujand. Personally it took quite long for me but in the end you will find someone. Lot of taxis. There are restaurants around but it is quite cold place to wait. Taken by a couple for 45 followed by another car with family. Rahmat Alekhan!

Got a ride in no time further direction Khujand! M45 My friend got also a ride in no time on the other direction, Pamjakent.

In Servoda you should walk after the city because there is a crazy amount of taxis that will harass you. We were 2 hitchhikers, taken in no time by a truck driver to Ayni where we separated. Inoha went left and found instantly a ride for Pamjakent and I found a ride further direction Khujand! M55

2 hitchhikers. Here you can ask the guards to help you find a ride. 8AM, was taken in no time to the city close to the main road, Servoda. Was kind of a shared taxi but we paid nothing. Thanks Muhammed M60.

3 hitchhikers ! We waited a hour to get a free ride be Tadjik tourists, but you can also pay to go there. Some people will scam you asking more than 10$ but you can probably find a shared taxi for 1 or 2$ if you want to go faster ;) Rahmat Max and Sonya Couple~55 Also in this spot people that work close to the gate were super nice, helped us morally and gave us dry apricots. There is also toilets in the stone settlement on the other side of the road ! PS : look iOverlander for accommodation and camping spot on the lake!

3 hitchhikers and was taken in no time. Good spot at the end of the city. We shared a taxi to go there but there are some bus that go few kilometres before.

DIRECTION DUSHANBE : So easy. Just ask the guards to find you a car for free to Dushanbe. Plenty cars and trucks. Personally, I was in a truck and because of this I cannot go further for 7 hours : the road was blocked because president was in Kulob. That's why I ended up here. But you could still abandon a truck and hithhike a car to go faster. Thanks Nekruz and Azam M32 M33

DIRECTION DUSHANBE : Every truck passing by will go to Dushanbe. This is a very long way. Count one day to arrive in Dushanbe. One truck stopped for me in the middle of the town but you have more probability if it's outside of the town. Even better if it is at the bridge before Rushan where there is a military checkpoint, but this is far away. My truck got unfortunately stuck at a military checkpoint further on the road because the President was in Kulob. I stayed there 7 hours and finally hitchhiked a car. Thanks Askidin, M22.

Going back to Rushan/Douchanbe: Go there for 9AM. The first tourists to go back from Jizev will pass at ~10. I waited 50 minutes for the second car to pass, who brought me back to the main road. Thanks Abdul M50, Maddy, Marina and Bjorn FFM~30. I am not sure if there is a better spot, I just waited close to the parking because I could sit.

HITCHHIKING TO JIZEV : in this village, stay in front of shops. There is one here and one before after the bridge. People will try to help you. I got a ride in an old Soviet truck directly to the bridge for Jizev. Try at least to go closer to Bagu, the last village before the beginning of the trail. Taken by 2 M45~ There is low traffic so expect low progress!

HITCHHIKING IN THE BARTANG VALLEY/JIZEV : Is it easy? With the help of God, everything is easy ! Once in the intersection to Jizev, it is easy to go to the next village people will bring you there for free, this is what I did and was invited for Plov, kebab and tea by a family. I however waited long time for a direct ride and just accepted to go a bit further which as a great idea. 1h30 passed but I was there for noon so I begin to hitchhike for Zijev around 2.30PM then I waited maybe 45 minutes, villager talked to me I said I was going there and he said this truck (who just stopped when we were talking) is also going, he talked with him and got the ride for free. What I mean is, go to the village, stay in a place (like close to shops where people stop) and they will somehow try to help you find a solution ! Anyways I'm Jizev I was later invited by the locals to drink tea, eat, play music and sleep. I cannot recommend enough going there. Thanks Nourali and Alidot, two M 55~

DIRECTION RUSHAN/DUSHANBE : Here some trucks to Dushanbe are parked. Just next to here is a military checkpoint where you can definitely find someone going to the capital. Personally I just needed a ride to Rushan/Bartang valley. Thanks Somon M35~

DIRECTION RUSHAN/DOUCHANBE : Low traffic but somehow got a direct lift to Rushan (more or less, just before it, truck driver was very tired). Here also saw my German friend Toby with his friends from US and NE.

DIRECTION RUSHAN/DUSHANBE : if you want to go as fast as possible to Dushanbe, stop at the bridge before Rushan where a military checkpoint is located. There, you should be able to find a direct ride to Douchanbe. In a truck it is very long. To leave Khorog, no need to go too far. Several cars will stop for you here. Try go get at least a short ride that brings you further on the road to catch more long-distance rides. Taken by a couple ~55

DIRECTION KHOROG : I was just going down the hot springs when I raised my thumb and was taken by two Austrians, Marcel and Alex with another Russian hitchhiker all the way to Khorog !

Tried to go to Ishkashim. I waited...4 hours ! I could go faster if I was willing to pay a shared taxi but I miss the first opportunity. I basically walked outside the city, hitchhike with no success for maybe two hours, then came back to the police office and I asked the soldier to find me a car. First he was asking how much and I explained him the project. He found me a car long time after all the way to Bibi Fatima, crazy! And for free! I was in a shared taxe with a whole family but so funny ! Deo gratias. Use iOverlander to see hidden places you can sleep.

Nobody stops. Ultimately a truck driver from Tajikistan took us 2 exists further. Worthless.

Here is the main exit form Kokand to Khudjand in Tajikistan. Either try dozens of local cars or use bus to Besharyk and further (price from Kokand to border is 0,5 usd)

After crossing into Uzbekistan ignore the armada of taxi drivers and walk a bit further on out of their sight. There's basically no through traffic here except some few trucks coming from Tajikistan (around two trucks/hour).

To Murgab: From Sary Tash town, walk down the towards Tajikistan, the road splits at a police stop. Wait there for cars going left towards the snowy mountains. Alot of trucks from China to Tajikistan no longer go through here and hitchhiking (for free) is incredibly difficult. Even for paid transport to Murgab, waiting times are long.
