Either towards Marmaris or Fethiye, it's a good place, lots of cars and trucks. I was going to Fethiye/Ölüdeniz, a lot of cars are going to villages or towns on the way so from this point on I had like five different rides all the way to Fethiye.

The more I hitch in Turkey the more it becomes my favourite for hitchhiking. Had a sign for Trazbon and was picked up in 5 mins. Good spot for cars and trucks to pull over. Often going slow as it’s just after a set of lights.

Much better spot than the petrol station just down the road. Cars ARE moving faster but you get all the traffic that normally goes in the faster lanes that avoids the petrol station. I had a sign for Trabzon and got scooped up by a trucker almost immediately. He said heaps of trucks run from Samsun to Trabzon/Rize and back every day and this was the best spot for getting out of Samsun. Idk worked for me Thanks Baruk

Should have taken the warning from thr other guy, no one stopped and decided to follow him to Tekkekoy It was late tho Had a sign for Trabzon

I only had to wait 45 mins because there were police here doing random checks. The police were cool and took pictures with me and whatnot but I think they scared off people who would have stopped. After a bit a truck driver asked them if he could pick me up and i got a lift straight to Samsun (it did take 2 days as our truck only went 80kms/h and we lost breaks.) But hella good spot - use a sign Also room for sleeping rough the back and lots of cardboard

Wasnt hitchhiking at the time as I had resigned to walk the 3 hours to the Starbucks on the highway. Sat at a ÇiĞKÖFTECi place (right near this pub) and not only had some of the best food, but also a great chat with the guy running it and his friends before they said they would drop me to the Starbucks (00:30)

You can get to this spot by the 966 but after u get to the end of the metro (I think it only takes credit card as mine didn’t work so they just let me on for free) It’s not the best spot, but there is lots of traffic and room for cars and trucks to pull over. It is on a hill so often the cars are in the outer two lanes. I had a sign for uşak but lots of truck drivers point up saying they were going north. A truck pulled over after about 30 mins and said he was going up towards Istanbul and I just took it

Used this spot again, was taken after 10 minutes by a 40yo women taxi driver from Turkey (Nabila?) to next town even tho I didn't really understood where she was going.

Not much traffic off season. Mostly Turkish cars with 34 area code. Many trucks with 16. I needed to go to Sofia so i tried to go east with sign Bulgaria and west with Sign Thessaloniki. Sometimes both while standing in the middle and turning for cars/trucks. Going to Turkey should be possible since i got offered rides by truck drivers. The police were really chill only checked my Passport and told me they have to kick me out if someone reports me and chatted with me about traveling while doing their checks. The checkpoint and police presence probably made the drivers not stop for me. 1 male

Nice view, friendly people, very expensive coffee and still a shitty spot to go to Slovenia. Not as many cars as expected and lots of lots of people going to Germany (maybe due to the time - end of German summer holiday), prepared to sleep here but got lucky and was picked up by a nice guy on his way to Turkey after 20 minutes or so. But all in all: try this spot if you want to go to Germany or northern Austria, don’t try it for any other direction

Waited a rather long time for Turkey (but very decent as a whole), two men. Got us to Nevşehir. Lots of place to stop and cars don’t go too fast.

OMV gas station. Most people go to Burgas. I found a truck driver which was heading to Lassowo at the border to Turkey

5 stars because turkish trucks here go a long distance. before you cross the border, there is a huge line of trucks. they won't speak english, so better smile and name bunch of cities, then mark their destinations down and after interviewing most of them, pick the best option for you. i was solo, under heaviest rain in my life and got a 1500km lift across turkey. driver was super cool. border guards also helped me wait for the truck to cross and let me stay inside duty free area. overall: good spot, but be ready to wait and probably come here in the morning, when all trucks from the rest area depart.

Not great, hard to get to, but all the traffic going to Turkey (if you don't go along the coast) goes here. I only went here because it was a sunny Saturday in summer and everyone on the highway at the petrol station (a little north) went to Sozopol for the beach. Eventually got picked up by gypsies who asked for money (€20), but they were very hospitable and even gave me something to eat and drink.

Asked a albanian truck driver if he could take me to turkey. First he refused, but after his break he came back and offered to drop me off in front of the border near Alexandroupoli. Didnt even need to jump the fence like another reviewer mentioned, theres a big hole nowadays.

Got a ride by two of the nicest Albanians ever that took me all the way to Tirana. They realised I had literally no money and offered to buy me food and drinks which I kept refusing but they absolutely insisted and bought stuff for me anyway. So on the way I got given pastries, a donut, 2 yogurt drinks, 2 waters, a sandwich, 2 packs of cigarettes, watermelon and then gave me a whole cantaloupe. I told them I was trying to hitchhike to turkey and they thought it was a bad idea so they bought me a bus ticket for istanbul tomorrow morning. What the actual fck. Genuinely in disbelief right now. I am forever in debt to Ari and Kico those Albanian legends.

I put out my thumb and a tow truck pulled over. He gave me a ride to Malko Tarnovo but once I was there it was a 8km walk to the border and no cars stopped for me. I ended up crossing the border checkpoint after sunset and slept on the side of the road. It's worth waiting here for a car that will take you into Turkey directly if you can.

Really quiet place with not a lot of traffic. I think people are afraid to pick you up in direction turkey because they are afraid of the border. Got a ride to istambul at 19p.m but i was very lucky. People are rolling fast and no place to stop but i had no other choice.

Did not work for us. There is space and plenty traffic but no one stopped which is the first time it happens to us over 3 weeks in Turkey. After one hour, we walked 10 minutes to the next petrol station. There someone immediately offered you drive us out of Serik on the way to Konya.

I just asked everyguy with Turkish driving plates and I got drive directly to Turkey. My driver went to Antalya but i jump off at the border.

Was dropped off the at the intersection and started walking towards the A4 going to turkey, didnt make it onto the road propper before i got picked up.

Not even 2 minutes and a truck driver picked me up. Brought me all the way to Turkey. Roads are shit and it takes forever.

reading the previous comments you can understand that it is very difficult to find transportation here. I was lucky and after an hour a kind gentleman from Turkey picked me up directly to Sofia. If it wasn't him I would probably have been standing in this place for hours.
