Not really good spot. Cars go very fast. After 30min a sketchy truck stopped. I was happy to get out as he asked me weird questions about sex and wanted money.

Perfect spot. There is a small bus station and a roundabout managed by traffic police. Just stand on the highway after the roundabout. They did not bother me. After 20min a Truck driver stopped (waved at him with sign) and offered to take me. Great spot! If you end up here at night, there are pleeeeeeeenty pf minivans to all directions, a supermarket, toilett. Everything you need.

I had a ton of luck. A commercial minivan stopped and told me to get it. Prepared I said ‚para yok‘ (no money) and he insisted that I join the fully packed van. My sign had Suşehri written on it. Once we arrived I asked if I can stay till Giresun. He made a few calls and said tamam. In Şebinkarahisar we had to change driver and fan but the new one apparently knew I was HH w/o money. I felt a little bad because everyone around me was asked to pay but yk, I was clear about my budget and it worked. Thanks again to the driver(s).

It look 20min for a old car to stop. Some traffic in the morning hours. Good location i guess.

I walked down the road when a nice couple stopped and told me it‘s forbidden to HH there. They were very kind and took me for a few km. At this point I waited until a man stopped, ask me if I was confused - after 10min he came back with a bus ticket to sivas. I ended up taking this chance.

Great spot. I took a shared taxi (dolmuş) from Ulus in Ankara. Ask the shops where it is. You need to say ‚dolmuş mamak autoban‘ as there are two different ones to mamak. It went at 10am so ig I goes every hour? The spot is right after a traffic lights with very heavy traffic.

First I waited 90min before and after toll station. Heavy traffic and somewhat slow. Then I asked the guards at the toll station and they said I can stay right next to it. After all HH on the highway is illegal (?) but most people are chill af. Took another 30min to find truck driver who took me.

Great spot to find somebody for HH. It might be also possible to find somebody who gets you onto the highway to Izmir/Antalya which starts directly after.

Bad rating but I worked good for me. The last driver dropped me as most who don‘t go to Istanbul use the upper bridge. There is no way to walk (but you can switch the side via tunnel) to the metro (all fenced off, even if you are fine with hopping highways). I asked the police for a solution and they drove me. If the don‘t help you, there is no way to get out of there.

my last truck driver arranged a pickup for me. Always a possibility to ask them if they can CB radio to ask other drivers. There is enough space to stop.

This spot sucked, nobody stopped for 1,5h. I ended up walking (good view and some nature) to the Toll station above (other highway). There I got a ride quickly.

Did take 10min for a Truck Driver to pick me up. Medium traffic on a sunday, I tried a few other spots for hours but this seems to be the best. Truck have a toll station so they go slow. He organised another truck via CB-Radio (see next stop). Just head hear immediately if you‘re in the area. One more local men was waiting, so it seems to be a common spot.

I tried to catch a ride (Istanbul) on a Saturday evening and on a Sunday morning after camping, but both seemed impossible. I was approached by a local who said it’s not a good spot to get to Istanbul ans that I should go into the city and try to highway below.

There is a gas station and a toilet. I got picked up pretty quickly but only driven a few km. The whole area seems mid idk

The border is shit. Long waiting (but walkable, waiting trucks will offer food and coffee which is nice). Nobody stopped for me, Truck driver are annoyed by the 12h waiting time barely any cars (saturday evening). Police harassed me and demanded the passport ‚fast fast‘. In my option are really bad border to cross but maybe I was unlucky.

Tamen, ĉar la limoj estas fermitaj, bedaŭrinde, ĝi enirus tra Kartvelio, kaj por mi, ĝi estis perfekta; mi simple iris. Ĉi tiu loko estas bonega por longdistanca petveturado; ne maltrafu ĝin. Kaj por mi, kiu iris al Japanio senhalte el Istanbulo, ĝi estis perfekta.

Not even 2 minutes and a truck driver picked me up. Brought me all the way to Turkey. Roads are shit and it takes forever.

reading the previous comments you can understand that it is very difficult to find transportation here. I was lucky and after an hour a kind gentleman from Turkey picked me up directly to Sofia. If it wasn't him I would probably have been standing in this place for hours.

good place, easily accessible by public transport. A truck driver from Turkey picked me up after 30 minutes to the border, after the border a couple from the Czech Republic.

Turkey Hill Gas Station. Not lots of people stopping by, mostly locals. End up having a short to go further on I-81 to Middlesex to a truck stop. Driver was a Pastor, tried to convince me to read the book of Jon and gave me his phone unmber a tthe end in any case

We waited at the entrance of the petrol station for two hours with a sign that said: Szeged Románia felé. One car stopped, but we had too much luggage (two people, two backpacks, two instruments) and then two turkish truckers took us to the border of Turkey in two days.

Direction: Turkey. Easy to get a ride, but lots of short ones.

Let me cross on foot Kurdistan to Turkey. Iraqi/Kurdistan officers stopped a random car for me to get in to go over bridge (walking forbidden), told them taxi is too expensive.

We asked around the parking lot and like 6th car driver was from Turkey driving truck with fish to Rotterdam so we waited with him until his pauze ended and then enjoyed great ride, singing and eat some turkish meals with him while driving to Neatherlans.

Definitely not a great spot, during summer a lot of packed cars from Germany driving to Turkey, almost no locals (Serbians, Bulgarians). On the other hand, we found a car going directly to Sofia.

Hitchhiked without a sign. Had memorized the city names of "Generalovo" and "Kapitan Andreevo". Driver asked me where I was going to. Said the two names and he asked to get in. I said I was going to Turkey and he drove me to the parking spot next to the border. Not a lot of cars, but slow traffic and a big area for parking.

Horrible spot. You have to stay next to a bus stop and only traffic from a certain part if town goes there because the main road, which is only a few feet away but highway with nowhere to stand and fast cars is going through a short tunnel kind of. Stood there for 4 hours without result and made me use buses for 3 weeks afterwards because I thought Turkey doesnt work. Was wrong if course and later it was so easy but it traumatized me. Get a dolmus to go further south or try before the tunnel that splits the road.

Good spot! Find a ride to Budapest in 20 min. We were just standing with a sign and a nice guy from turkey stoped.

The direction Buenos Aires! 14 We were two Backpacker from Germany and Turkey (male) waited here almost 2 and half hour . After we failed we decided to split and we went under the bridge which Cars slow down and they come over bridge so after moving under the bridge finding ride was better as a solo!

I second that it is very difficult to get greek people to stop for you. we ended up asking people at customs and finally getting a ride to thessaloniki (by an albanian). not sure what my advice is, it will be difficult, also seems pretty impossible to hitchhike from the highways as there is literally almost no traffic the whole way. might actually be best to stand directly on the highway. from thessaloniki to turkey we ended getting a bus

Most traffic is going to Burgas. Got stuck here all sunday afternoon + monday morning. Cars are full, I asked to truck drivers but all declined until one drive me tl little before Svilengrad. For Turkey better to wait longer to get a direct ride from Sofia/Plovdiv.

Got a ride to the last petrol station before the split Burgas-Turkey.

good spot, many truckers are making stops here, even at night i was hitchhiking in winter and got a ride with a trucker from Turkey

About 100 minutes by bus from the city but worth it! You can walk to the rest stop and through the toll station (Not recommended) or Jump the fence Right After the station (recommended). I used a sign with the greek and turkish spelling of Turkey.

Cars coming fast, not much place to stop, but this whole region in Turkey is very good for hitchhiking and we were picked up immediately anyway while we were walking.

April 2022. After a whole year travelling across Turkey and learning how to become a nomad while waiting for Iranian border to re-open as well as escaping pandemic, after a whole winter in Georgia. Finally i came again to Doğubeyazıt and got a relaxing ride by a truck. I was so excited and speechless that i even fell asleep on the way to Gürbülak. You have to leave the car and walk through the border, that's quicker. I found the same truck on the other side and they hosted me in Marand.
