Only a 15min wait, then got taken all the way to the Georgian border by a trucker. He would normally take me even further (he was headed to Tbilisi), but I waited for him for 4 hours while he was in the border area, then I finally decided to take a taxi to Akhaltsikhe instead :') However, the border area should be good to hitchhike further if (unlike me) you do it immediately instead of waiting for one guy until it gets dark.

what works here best is a screenshot of translated text in turkish, saying where you go or asking to take to the gas station on a highway. got a ride to kirklareli in no time. workers on gas station are also helpful

Lots of cars stop at the light and have plenty of time to think about pulling off to pick you up.

Seems like it should be an ideal spot. Plenty of space to stop, all cars are intercity traffic,even an apple tree to snack on, but I had to wait a decent amount of time for a ride. Could have just been bad luck.

Not really a great spot but a car stopped pretty quick and took me a few km.

All the cars passing we're heading into/through Çorum, and they had to stop for the intersection light but it still took a while to get a ride into town

Good location, with visibility and a place to park the car. The gas station employees offered us tea and coffee, and we got a direct ride to Antalya

Perfect for heading south, luckily we got a ride straight to Izmir

It's not exactly a free ride, but it's a golden tip: if you want to cross the river, take the ferry; it costs less than 1 euro

The only exit is in Gelibolu, from where you can take the ferry to cross the river

5 stars because turkish trucks here go a long distance. before you cross the border, there is a huge line of trucks. they won't speak english, so better smile and name bunch of cities, then mark their destinations down and after interviewing most of them, pick the best option for you. i was solo, under heaviest rain in my life and got a 1500km lift across turkey. driver was super cool. border guards also helped me wait for the truck to cross and let me stay inside duty free area. overall: good spot, but be ready to wait and probably come here in the morning, when all trucks from the rest area depart.

Not great, hard to get to, but all the traffic going to Turkey (if you don't go along the coast) goes here. I only went here because it was a sunny Saturday in summer and everyone on the highway at the petrol station (a little north) went to Sozopol for the beach. Eventually got picked up by gypsies who asked for money (€20), but they were very hospitable and even gave me something to eat and drink.

Asked a albanian truck driver if he could take me to turkey. First he refused, but after his break he came back and offered to drop me off in front of the border near Alexandroupoli. Didnt even need to jump the fence like another reviewer mentioned, theres a big hole nowadays.

Got a ride by two of the nicest Albanians ever that took me all the way to Tirana. They realised I had literally no money and offered to buy me food and drinks which I kept refusing but they absolutely insisted and bought stuff for me anyway. So on the way I got given pastries, a donut, 2 yogurt drinks, 2 waters, a sandwich, 2 packs of cigarettes, watermelon and then gave me a whole cantaloupe. I told them I was trying to hitchhike to turkey and they thought it was a bad idea so they bought me a bus ticket for istanbul tomorrow morning. What the actual fck. Genuinely in disbelief right now. I am forever in debt to Ari and Kico those Albanian legends.

I put out my thumb and a tow truck pulled over. He gave me a ride to Malko Tarnovo but once I was there it was a 8km walk to the border and no cars stopped for me. I ended up crossing the border checkpoint after sunset and slept on the side of the road. It's worth waiting here for a car that will take you into Turkey directly if you can.

Really quiet place with not a lot of traffic. I think people are afraid to pick you up in direction turkey because they are afraid of the border. Got a ride to istambul at 19p.m but i was very lucky. People are rolling fast and no place to stop but i had no other choice.

Did not work for us. There is space and plenty traffic but no one stopped which is the first time it happens to us over 3 weeks in Turkey. After one hour, we walked 10 minutes to the next petrol station. There someone immediately offered you drive us out of Serik on the way to Konya.

I just asked everyguy with Turkish driving plates and I got drive directly to Turkey. My driver went to Antalya but i jump off at the border.

reading the previous comments you can understand that it is very difficult to find transportation here. I was lucky and after an hour a kind gentleman from Turkey picked me up directly to Sofia. If it wasn't him I would probably have been standing in this place for hours.

good place, easily accessible by public transport. A truck driver from Turkey picked me up after 30 minutes to the border, after the border a couple from the Czech Republic.

Turkey Hill Gas Station. Not lots of people stopping by, mostly locals. End up having a short to go further on I-81 to Middlesex to a truck stop. Driver was a Pastor, tried to convince me to read the book of Jon and gave me his phone unmber a tthe end in any case

We waited at the entrance of the petrol station for two hours with a sign that said: Szeged Románia felé. One car stopped, but we had too much luggage (two people, two backpacks, two instruments) and then two turkish truckers took us to the border of Turkey in two days.

Let me cross on foot Kurdistan to Turkey. Iraqi/Kurdistan officers stopped a random car for me to get in to go over bridge (walking forbidden), told them taxi is too expensive.

We asked around the parking lot and like 6th car driver was from Turkey driving truck with fish to Rotterdam so we waited with him until his pauze ended and then enjoyed great ride, singing and eat some turkish meals with him while driving to Neatherlans.

Definitely not a great spot, during summer a lot of packed cars from Germany driving to Turkey, almost no locals (Serbians, Bulgarians). On the other hand, we found a car going directly to Sofia.

Hitchhiked without a sign. Had memorized the city names of "Generalovo" and "Kapitan Andreevo". Driver asked me where I was going to. Said the two names and he asked to get in. I said I was going to Turkey and he drove me to the parking spot next to the border. Not a lot of cars, but slow traffic and a big area for parking.

Horrible spot. You have to stay next to a bus stop and only traffic from a certain part if town goes there because the main road, which is only a few feet away but highway with nowhere to stand and fast cars is going through a short tunnel kind of. Stood there for 4 hours without result and made me use buses for 3 weeks afterwards because I thought Turkey doesnt work. Was wrong if course and later it was so easy but it traumatized me. Get a dolmus to go further south or try before the tunnel that splits the road.
