Nothing coming across the border at all. Bus to the next checkpoint was filled with locals bringing goods from Iran. Nightmare border crossing - it took 2-3 hours.―Looking for Stu, December 2015

On the Turkmen side, there's nothing coming through the border. A bus takes you to the next checkpoint and costs 10 menat. Very quiet crossing.―Anonymous, December 2015

After crossing the border into Iran most likely there will be no car or truck (no private cars and very few trucks are crossing this border it seems), so you best walk to the next city Bajgiran - an easy 30 minutes downhill walk - and start to hitch from there. Not much traffic though.―Anonymous, October 2014

Spot outside the city on the road towards the border. Bus No. 16 goes there from the big bus stand north of Tekke Basar (remember to get off the bus when the bus turns right from the main road). From here it's a five minute drive or maybe a 30 minute walk to the first border checkpoint, where you'll need to take the shuttle bus.―Anonymous, September 2014

Walk out of the city along this road and start hitching. Good for turning north and heading towards Turkmenistan.―Anonymous, December 2015

If you are going to take a ship from Baku to Turkmenistan or to Kazakhstan, you can go to the port early and try to talk to one of the Turkish, Georgian or Azeri truck drivers. They can show you as a driver on paper and you can save 100$.―Anonymous, April 2014

Perfect spot! Nice and wide road and cars go slow. Here you can find a truck going to Iran or even further, like Turkmenistan.―Anonymous, March 2014
