I went to the beginning of the queueing cars. With a sign "KRK" (short for Kraków) in my hand I started walking along the queue asking some drivers. After a 7-minute walk a couple agreed to take me. Since it wasn't the beginning of the queue I had to wait some time. It took us 3h15min to cross both (UKR/PL) checkposts. The couple was going to Opole. They dropped me on the last petrol station before they exited the highway. Which was a good decision.

A very good visibility. It was only 5 minutes wait. A military (in a private car) took me less than 10 kms. He was going only to Jaworów. But he was kind enough and he dropped me in a nice spot a bit after that town.

For the first half an hour I was standing with a sign "PL". Then I thought it could scare the short rides and the second half and hour I used only a thumb. I don't know why this place took so long. The place looks really good. But the other 3 rides before the border plus one at the border never took longer than 10 minutes. And here I waited one hour.

I was hitchhiking for 20 minutes one km closer to the town, when I decided to walk in search for a better place. While walking I hitchhiked. After one 1 km and 15 minutes a car stopped. This place isn't specially good, but the Ukrainian-Canadian couple did it anyway. They said that the sign was helpful. They dropped me where I wanted in Sambor.

Between an exit from a petrol station and an entry into a shop car parking. So there is space to pull over. Good visibility. But while standing there I realised it's too urban. Many cars were doing some maneuvers around me. So after 20 minutes I started walking. Soon after I got a lift.

I was dropped in Truskawiec by a previous driver and I walk to this place. A really good spot. A very big tarmac bay (some sort of ex police checking spot), where even a lorry can stop easily. Good visibility. Cars don't go fast. After 5 minutes I got a lift to Drohobycz.

In front of unused petrol station, so there is plenty of space to pull over. Very good visibility. After 10 minutes a guy stopped and he took me to Truskawiec near Drohobycz. At the end I had unpleasant situation with the driver. Despite agreeing at the beginning to take me as a free of charge hitchhiker (I speak more than enough of Russian/Ukrainian to make myself clear aboutthat. Later in a car we even had a chat about hitchhiking in Ukraine), he asked for money. We had a couple minutes chat. I was saying that he agreed to take me for free, he was saying that I still should pay. It was the first (and so far the only time) it happened to me in Ukraine. In the end I told him I didn't have money and he, cursing under his nose, left.

I was planning to walk farther out of the city, but when I saw this nice spot I decided to use it. Between the end of the city sign on one side of the road and welcome one on the other. It's a long, tarmac bay which is an entry and an exit to some car showrooms. A lorry can pull over there easly. Good visibility. Constant traffic. After 10 minutes I got a ride to Kałusz. The driver stopped near the west end of a town, so I didn't have to walk long to the next spot.

I walked less than 10 minutes, hitchhiking along the way, when a woman stopped (btw. many women pickedme that day) here and she took me to Ivano-Frankivsk. Actually she was bypassing it, so she dropped me in the outskirts of the city and I walked the remaining a few kilometres.

I started walking and hitchhiking and here another driver stopped and gave me 14 kilometres ride.

During that walk I was checked again by a military patrol (it sucks to be a man in Ukraine now). The last less than 10 minutes I hitchhiked while walking. At this spot a woman stopped and offered me a ride. She said she wasn't going far. But I was surprised when after less than one kilometer (yes, one) she said "That's it". So, I got off and carried on walking waiting for another short ride.

A really good spot. A wide exit from the petrol station gives plenty of room to pull over. Good visibility. There is shade. Not very busy traffic. After 20 minutes a guy stopped and offered his "taxi service". I passed. Then I got blocked by a herd of cows, which surrounded me for almost 10 minutes. After 40 minutes one guy stopped, but he was going only to the next village. I passed. I should have taken that ride, coz 30 minutes later a woman stopped and offered me the same ride. This time I took it and I started a village to a village jumping (a series of short rides).

Police want let you walk across this bridge. Because most of the traffic are Ukrainians transiting true this small part of Moldova to other part Odessa oblast and this border zone has some special regulations due to high risk of people escaping mobilization and this may lead to some problems. If you aren't shy there is an opportunity to hitchhike this border as every 30 minutes or something que forms before this bridge and then you can ask cars with Moldovan plates will they take you across. As I'm in fact shy I after thinking for a while what to do decided to take a bus across and as price was the same for close distance and got going to chisinau airport I decided to go over there as there is a forest right next to it which I already camped once and first bus that I could buy ticket online was quite late in the evening (there is no real bus station in that town)

Quick ride to Maiaky

Had to wait a little but i found ride to Odessa. Map is little bit inaccurate and right after this spot(south) there is another gas station but I don't recommend standing near it as they are 2 small dogs that are very unfriendly towards hitchhikers. You should stay at the spot I marked, it's not ideal but it works and nobody will have problem with you standing there

It was evening and suprisingly low traffic going to berlin. Liek eveyone were turning away on the next highway exit which is crazy. But eventually found a guy just sitting in a car and eating burger from mcdonalds and asked and he agreed because he was driving from ukraine border to denmark and would love company. And it was super nice for me because i was trying to go to hamburg

It was my last hitchhiking in Romania, during that trip, and I couldn't imagine a more perfect "goodbye". My previous driver dropped me at this petrol station. A nice place. Good visibility, shade and room to pull over. I walked to the road, I didn't even have time to drop my backpack coz the first car was coming. I put my thumb up and I was on my way to Sighetu Marmației.

Still urban, but I guess it's the case for quite a few kms, so I stopped here. Plenty of space to pull over. No shade. I had really good visibility. The driver a bit less, coz the sun was still low and it was shining straight in their eyes. Busy morning traffic. After 15 minutes the first car stopped but it wasn't going my way. 10 minutes later another guy stopped and he dropped me 20 kms before Sighetu Marmației.

First good spot for stopping if you are dropped on the highway entrance. If you are leaving the city probably there is no point in walking all the way up here. Got lucky with former hitchhiker who took me first to forest near Rzeszów for wildcamping and then to the service station on A4 for Ukraine direction

This spot looks like shit and you are basically standing on road that looks like a highway(Aldo technicaly it's not an expressway as this ends with junction after which you are standing.) but even so I got ride to Belarus very fast. Unfortunately Belorussian border guards didn't let me in because of my trips to Ukraine and I had to had back to Poland but if you think that they will let you through this is a spot to try

Nise spot, during this time 3 cars stopped, two - drive for a short distance, so we go further with third car. Drove to Ukraine.

Got picked up by an Amazon delivery driver from Ukraine, one of the nicest people I’ve met, risking his job to pick up me 😅. He drove me to the Amazon warehouse and brought me a hot chocolate, then I slept in a nearby field
