Just walk away from the taxis and you'll find a free ride. I was lucky and asked an american tour bus full of elderly if they had space for me and they did :D

Direct ride to Urgench. Make sure your ride is free. Took a Yandex to get here. Costs only like a euro.

Truck to Bukhara pretty much instantly after my previous ride.

A lot of traffic, most of it to Tashkent. Many taxi drivers after the border but just ignore them. In less than a minute a friendly local and his son stopped for us and took us all the way to the capital. Easy hitchhiking spot

I was hitchiking to Bukhara, got a ride for Navoy. There is a little space on the side where cars can stop.

Ride to Samarkand, at the end the driver asked for money, always talk money beforehand

A lot of cars, almost all go to Tashkent. Just gotta find the one that agrees to take you for free. Didn't take me too long though. A lot of taxi drivers at the border trying to take you but just ignore them and walk here.

Perfect spot for the Tajik border. Just say "Granitsa" and make sure it's for free like always in this region.

Literally got out of my previous car and the car behind us told me to hop in. Other than that, the spot itself seemed great too, plenty of cars and room.

Seemed like a good spot to head to Bukhara but it's just small village after village and nobody driving far distances. Take the route through Urgench!

It seems like a bad spot but it's surprisingly not. Has a lot of cars and they all seem to go to the highway. I found one to Nukus after 15 mins.

Just stand anywhere after the town and you'll find a ride out in no time. There's some shared taxis going up and down Moynaq so you can reach here with those or with a normal taxi.

Took a taxi to here from the town center for like 2€ and got a free ride to Moynaq very quickly.

Don't take any of the taxis after the border but just walk until there's no people and start hh. Not too many cars but some trucks. Road is horrible but they're building a new one currently. Took me 9 hours to reach Kungrad by truck. Should be a bit faster in a car. Bring some snacks and water. Border was easy on foot. They usually let you skip the lines if they see you're a foreigner. Took me an hour all in all.

Here is a cafe where truck drivers stop to take a rest. We got a direct ride to Kazakhstan border from here. The road is in a bad condition, so it took as 6+ hours to get there.

Sign for Tashkent had me picked up in minutes. Make sure you tell them you're not paying.

Just over the border on the Uzbekistan side. Walk along this road with a sign and/or your thumb out and you'll get picked up sooner or later. Plenty of trucks going in both directions.

After crossing into Uzbekistan ignore the armada of taxi drivers and walk a bit further on out of their sight. There's basically no through traffic here except some few trucks coming from Tajikistan (around two trucks/hour).
