Good spot to go direction Samarcand. Make sure it's free : BIEZ DIENEG. Plenty of trucks going there, slow traffic, some shadows, close to city if you need to eat or something. Got direct lift to Samarcand with Zima (M41).

Direction Samarcand. Good spot don't use a sign "Samarcand". Some people got lucky and got a direct lift for free : good for them. Reality is you will get harassed by lots of taxis and locals to pay for a trip to Samarcand. This is just how people here do. I stop using the sign and got a lift further for free where I got someone directly for Samarcand. Just try to get out of here, this is a station with taxis and public transports where it's just weird to ask for free rides. But it can also work, this is just advice to get faster a direct ride. Taken by a couple (M48)

Objective : Bukhara. Indeed very good spot. I was offered a melon 🍈 and then a redhead teenager talked to me. At this moment a bus stopped. I was like : naaah I don't want to pay. I then explained in ouzbek than I travel without money from France and the bus manager said "OK LET'S GO". Made a lot of friends in the bus ! All nice people. Was also offered launch. Deo Gratias!

Objective: Beruniy to go on the highway to Bukhara. Paid 1,50€ for taxi to go from one side to the other of Urgench. Once there, shared taxi stopped for me and I just said no money, he invited me to go and I asked if he can drop me before the town so I don't have to walk and he did! God is good

Well this is the spot where people go further or to Nukus. I've been a bit stupid in not understanding that everyone in UZ drive a white Chevrolet and I thought they were all taxis, kind of dystopic. Also, several people stopped and asked money so it comfort me in this thought. Then a bus stopped for me and I thought maybe I've hitchhiked a bus for free but probably not. Indeed I paid 11€ to go to Nukus. Quite a lot but hey, we learn everyday

I took the bus 120 from Chorsu metro station, stop here (be careful it's not the terminus), crossed the border on foot then hitchiked easily in Kazakhstan I did the other way also, don't trust taxi driver if they said "no bus anymore", walk until this point and take the bus 120 to go to Chorsu metro station (terminus) You can pay by card

good place to catch rides but you will have to get the right one. i got lucky with a straight shot to tashkent. be aware this trip will take 5ish hours because of radar cameras every 500m making cars drive 60kmph most of the way

lots of taxis flying by that will take some faith away but it worked got a ride by some guy going to namangan

the walk after the border seems sucky cuz theres no traffic its a quiet border but if you just flag a truck with desperation you can save yourself the 40 minute walk to the next hop out spot heading towards namangan

Totaly agree with previous comment. Same story. Me and my girlfriend wait just 1 minute. Many trucks go to Russia/Kazahstan

Just walk away from the taxis and you'll find a free ride. I was lucky and asked an american tour bus full of elderly if they had space for me and they did :D

[Young male solo-traveller] Spot was fine, not many cars when I was there, but lots of trucks. A truck driver from Uzbekistan finally picked me up after 30 minutes.

Just over the border on the Uzbekistan side. Walk along this road with a sign and/or your thumb out and you'll get picked up sooner or later. Plenty of trucks going in both directions.

After crossing into Uzbekistan ignore the armada of taxi drivers and walk a bit further on out of their sight. There's basically no through traffic here except some few trucks coming from Tajikistan (around two trucks/hour).
