This is the best spot I've found to leave Plzen in direction of germany. After 3 hours trying... Asking at the gas station + thumb up before the entrance at the roundabout is a good combo I think. I think you should reach this spot by hitchiking before entering into road 180.

This place wasn't a good idea. I made the (wrong) decision to walk untill the gas station. DO NOT do that, it's dangerous. I think you should better find a spot before entering to the road 180 (in Nyrany or Tlucna, don't know which one is the best), maybe with a sign "gas oil" in CZ ?

I was walking towards Nyrany with my thumb up and a car have stopped. I was working in Nyrany and I wanted to join back the D5, so I took it.

After more than 2 hours in this area, I've finally decided to walk untill Vejprnice through the forest. I've found my first car of the day there.

This is the only spot (there is a red stop and bus stop) where a car (2 youngs around my age) have stopped to ask me where I was going. Unfortunately not going in the good direction.

I've tried this spot and a bit the one at the red stop before the round about and I've got 0 cars stopped. (Direction of D5 to the border)

I was trying this spot after the comment of 2014, but I think it has changed too much. The place is unappropriate for hitchicking. Cars are coming too far and can't stop because of the traffic. Don't try it.

I've started there at the sunrise to have the workers. I was going to the border. The spot looked pretty fine with a red stop, an exit from a gas station and a bus stop behind me. After more than one hour nobody stopped. Then I've moved around the roundabout, but nothing better...

Fuckass place, don't ever try to hitchike there, no one gave us a ride. We even went to the gas station nearby but there is not much traffic. We ended up going to Pelhřimov from this bus station, it goes every 45 min. wednesday 11:00 - 12:15

Caught a ride to Brno extremely quickly

As soon as we wrote the sign, a Czech driver picked us up and took us all the way to Germany, across the border.

There were two of us, standing with a sign saying "OSTRAVA." It was a great spot, even though it was Sunday. We were picked up by a couple from the Czech Republic who were going to Zator (POLAND).

Got a ride to Brno in 20 minutes.

The spot itself is not bad, but I guess I was very unlucky and I was stuck here overnight, there is a lot of traffic to Germany and the Czech Republic, there are free toilets, sockets, drinking water

Cool spot, lots of traffic. Lots of people heading to Zagreb, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland. I was traveling alone, male.

good place, easily accessible by public transport. A truck driver from Turkey picked me up after 30 minutes to the border, after the border a couple from the Czech Republic.

A good place if you want to go towards Italy, France and Germany or the Czech Republic. We were heading towards Budapest and we had some difficulties to find someone who was driving in that direction. But a lot can depend on what time you hitchhiking. On the plus side, a lot of trucks and quite a lot of passenger car traffic at the gas station. A good place to stop/accommodate. There is a shower, laundry, hostel.

Super easy spot heading west! Cars slow down as they approach the town, and it seems like many are just passing through, heading either west or south. I managed to get a ride all the way to the Czech Republic (hey, Leon 👋). A lot of cars, though!

If you're trying to cross the border into the Czech republic then this is the place to be. Good traffic and it's possible for the drivers to stop just before entering the on ramp. Of you're patient then it should be possible to get a ride to Prague from here.

Impossible trip to the Czech Republic, 4 hours and nothing. it's better to choose a different place

We're extremely lucky, the first car took us until Nordhausen (we're heading to Harz) but generally very good spot for going to Germany. All Germans stops here because the gas is cheaper in the Czech Republic and it's the last gas station before Germany.

I was left here by driver who took me from Krakow (late Sunday) and just after I left the car and asked the first I noticed there (many stop for gas, to rest etc.) I had a lift to connect A1 (I needed to go the the Czech Republic border).

Over one year later, I was here again, and have to take back what I said before. The place where I hitchhiked last year is not a good spot. This time I hitchhiked right next Mercur and ofter 20 mins got a lift to the highway. Unless it is Friday and lots of Poles and Czechs are going home the chance someone will take you to the Czech Republic is low, so hitchhike without a sign, and get as far as you can ;)

Friday morning only few cars were going to the Czech Republic. Waiting 2 hours. (But good place for spent time - in fuel station is unlimited free wifi and electricity with tables)

not really sure if this was the spot, but most probably it was, anyway, here should be a bus statio which is a great spot towards the Czech Republic, cars stop at the lights and have enough space to pull over. I was there about 30 min and then a guy took me about 20-30 km further.

got a ride to the czech republic in 30 mins or so. the traffic is dense and there is a lot of space - an overall good spot. didn't get a direct ride to prague though

Average place for hitchhiking to the Czech republic ...

in february 2013 there was almost nobody going in direction of the czech republic. got stuck here for 6 hours. traffic is good to munich!

Decent traffic going to the Czech republic and further. I got a ride with a Slovaki on her way home.

Probably the best place of Grafenau, direction Freyung. There is almost nobody going to the Czech Republic though.
