Very good Spot, Special-Tier. Hot summerday 37cel.. Most Busy gasstation I have ever seen in my 13 years hh. Cars on a continous basis, without a break. I had a hard time keeping track who I did not ask. It was seemingly rush hour. Lots of local traffic, but some longrange rides. I got lucky finding a man who took me 400km to the Beaune Gasstation. Another male hitchhiker got a lift asking on the exit/entry of the shop in 20 minutes in the same direction as me.
Friday @ 16:50 asking people @ gasstation

Very easy and fast to get a ride (was standing with a sign to Lyon after the last roundabout) but ask where exactly the driver is going before getting in the car as the guy who picked me up said he's not going all the way to Lyon and then on the way said he's going to Nice and can bring me to the next Aire which was very small and impossible to get out of.

Spot is really good if you want to go to marseille. A lot of cars. We wanted to go north, not many people want to go there.

I arrived here in late evening and tried to get a ride during the night for a while before camping here. Next morning it still took me two hours until someone agreed to take me towards Lyon. Much traffic to Marseille.

We got there by evening so we tried our luck and decieded later on to go for a sleep and try again in the morning.
Well the next morning I got lucky some truck driver took me to the next service are. It was quite a bit hard to get a ride because there we're 3 other fellow hitch hikers :) so that's the reason I decided to make it to just the next service area.

If you're travelling towards south-eastern France or Italy, the "Aire d'Ambrussum" is a very convenient service area: about 10 km away, near Nmes, there's the turn for the A54 to Arles (and on to Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Nice, etc.).
The area is huge, with dozens of trucks and hundreds of cars, so it's a good place to catch a long ride.
It took me 1,5 hours to get a ride (which took me all the way to Savona, Italy) as I tried most of the time to get a car, and most of them where packed with holidaymakers (it was August 1st).
