Still true. Few cars passing but easily asked the drivers for a ride and at least ask to go to the next highway station, there are much people going for long distances.

Hitchhiked : on my own (girl)
Waiting time: 5min (asked driver)
I was lucky: the road by the gas station was on work, however a few cars still stop to fill up their tanks. I asked drivers, and the second driver I asked gave me a ride all the way to Lyon (I was going to Geneva). If you ask drivers, you can get a ride at least to the next gas station on the highway.

I agree with the comment above: I'd say that it's actually a good spot because it's easily reachable from Marseilles, for those who struggle to get out the city!
But don't use a sign, GO TALK to drivers (even trucks) asking to be dropped at the very next station (Lancon), where you'll find long-distance rides very fast!

The first petrol station (Agip) on the A7. Very small and local traffic. Better ask a ride for the next petrol station (Lanon) where you can easily get a ride for a further place.
You can get here from Marseille Saint Charles by bus (4 euros) or by train (3rd stop with the TER to Avignon)
