Aire des Portes d'Angers Nord

You can come here by bus 4 or 10 from the station, Parc Expo drop-off bus stop. I came here by bus 10 from Saint Sylvain d'Anjou, jumped onto the empty road linking the service stations on the bridge, waited 1.5 hour sitting behind truck parking where cars depart, gave up, took a train to avoid being late in Nantes.
Drivers smiled and showed interest at picking up, however no one really even stopped. Despite my unlucky experience, it looks like a good spot, easier to reach than the toll in the west nearby Saint-Jean de Linières.

rating: 5/5, wait: 90 min

Good spot. i started hitchiking at 8 am. Even if many people go to Le Mans / Paris, i got a car in ten minutes, direction Niort. Be patient, have a smile, it's easier then

Pretty good spot, not very busy, but in the direction of Nantes it gets the job done.

With a sign "Toulouse" or "Bordeaux" I waited nearly 1 h. I decided to change it to "Nantes" as most cars go there and was taken in 10 min. So even if you go south, go to Nantes before.

This petrol station is located on the " wrong " side of the city : it's on the east side, on the motorway towards the west, so it is before the city and not after it : so you don't get the traffic that departs from the city, only the vehicles coming from Le Mans, Paris and further east.
So it's not ideal, but it's the only spot that's on the motorway and that's reachable from the city with urban public transport (bus).

Petrol station located west of Angers, it is in the direction Angers ==> Nantes (towards the west and the Atlantic). Accessible with public transport from the city centre (cross the motorway on the nearby bridge).
