Easy to hik out of Istanbul. But if you are heading east at least take a ride until Izmit.

Hitching towards Ankara. Not much traffic, so hitched on the motorway 200m before the parking. After 1h we got a ride to the next gas station. Two guys. Sunday afternoon in Febrauary.

I hitchhiked there in Sunday and traffic in the parking was only a little. I tryed hitchhiking after the parking- no results. Finally I hitchhiking 200 meters before parking (in the motorway) and I got a lift to Izmit.

Parking on the motorway O4 Anadolu Otoyolu. There is no petrol station, but many drivers stop here to grab some food from small restaurant. You can get to nearby district Ferhatpasa by buses 19, 19C and 19Y from Kadikoy (close to ferry terminal on Asian side).
