P.S. to the comment above: The driver was mad at me at first and gave me a ten minutes scolding for hitchhiking on such a dangerous place (I was standing on the 'spike' between the highway and the access road to the petrol station). But hey, he stopped, I got a lift, we then talked a laughed all the way to Prague and no one got hurt :)

Honestly? This place sucks balls but there's no better (legal) place so you don't have much of a choice. First of all, it's a huge pain in the ass to get there. I took a bus to the Vyhlídalova bus stop (north of the station) and walked from there. I had to cross a small brook and climb over a fence of the orchard (the big green thing around the gas station). Owner of the orchard was obviously pissed at hitchhikers crossing his property so he threw a huge pile of the worst shit you can imagine (probably distillery waste - rotting apple grind, some actual shit, trash...) in front of the only way out of the orchard (a small hole in the fence. On one side of the hole was a 5 meter wall, on the other high spiky bush). You can be smarter and use the Podsedky street to get around the orchard. Anyway, when I got to the petrol station and cleaned myself a bit, I tried to hitchhike some car leaving the station. After 30 minutes I got tired and went in front of the station, catching cars off the highway (not particularly safe nor legal but it was getting late and I sure as hell didnt wanna go back the same way I came there) - luckily, being a girl and using a sign, I caught a car to Prague in like two minutes. So.. Yeah, a nice spot, but be prepared for some frustration and adrenaline.

Early Saturday morning in August, direct drive to Prague after 20 minutes, with sign.

good spot to catch car to Prague. you can stay at the enterance to the petrol station so drivers can see you and stop inside the parking zone.

Definitely the best place to direction Praha. There are not many cars but most of them goes to Praha directly.
You can get there with tram number 8 and 6 tamstop Osova and then wlk 1,5 km

There were not a lot of cars during morning of weekday, but we managed to hitchhike truck driver that took us in direction to Prague in 30 minutes.

It is almost impossible to reach but I had to reach it because some guy wanted to help me an just left me on the entrance of the highway. I had to walk from there a few kilometers and I think I was just lucky that I got a ride the next day...

me and my friend - both guys went there around 3pm to hitchike but there were not many cars and HHing seemed not a good idea, so we asked two guys for a lift and they took us to Prague. We got lucky on the spot but i dont think its a good idea to go there if youre heading to Prague

great spot

Difficult to get there but then it is best place to get out from Brno towards Prague
―Tomocici, August 2013
first guy we asked took us to Prag in his Audi :) Wed. 3.7.13 at 11:30
have been lucky here before in October 2012, when I didn't even get a chance to go to the restroom yet but WAS asked »are you a hitchhiker?«! - that guy took me 815km to Bremen (I drove half the way)!

15 minutes waiting for a lift to Dresden, 20.05.13 13.00
―Werner, May 2013
Got here with our last ride from Poland and had to wait an hour and half with about 10 declines from people "not going to Prauge" or "don't speak English". eventually we got a ride, but not easy.
―Mateo, September 2012
we were waiting for some time, maybe also because of the weather (rain), but then we got a ride to Praha. also quite difficult to get there, we went through the orchard and a really steep hill, maybe there's a better way
―Licor007, September 2012
For us it was a bit tricki, we climbed up, from an apple field, but it was easy to get very close by trams and bus. we started hiking at 12, and after 25-30 minutes we got 2 rides at the same time till praga. one would take us to berlin, but we switched directions at praha, and went west.

We got an lift by the first person we asked for direct to Prague. It is easy to find if you get on the highwaz where the Martina Sevicka (street) is crossing the highway. You have to get up a little hill to the highway and there is kind a gate in the noice protection wall.
Have a good HH

It´s the best legal place to HH on D1 from Brno to the west.
Just go by tram 6 or 8 to the stop Osová, then take bus Nr. 69 to the stop Čermákova, cross the street Elišky Přemyslovny and go up the street Čermákova. You cross the railway and then just before the D1 hike the slope on the left side. You have to walk about 100 m along the highway to reach this OMV gas station.
I wait here regulary during a day about 15-30 min with a SIGN...

It's 3km from tram station to the gas station on bad terrain near the highway, no foodpath. I was there on the evening, on the gas station were almost no cars and most didn't go to Prague. Been waiting there for more then hour and had to go back.. again half an hour by walking next to hw. I suggest some better place, this sucks
―Justdvl, April 2011
Gas station, the best way to go to Praha. You have to go by tram to last stop Ustredni Hrbitov, then go by the highway about 1,5 km. Lot of cars, all are going to Praha, but always several hitchhikers waiting
