The best spot to catch a ride across the Nullabor. Key is to be there very early (5 am or so) because this is when the trucks leave. Got a ride by a guy with a caravan. Haven't had problems with the roadhouse owner

Heading out to cross the Nullarbor, this BP station is strategically the best spot to look for a lift. Unfortunately, the roadhouse owner is one of the biggest pricks one can meet in Australia and will promptly kick you off the property (and then yell at you for an additional 5 minutes). It's best to avoid the property itself and stand adjacent to it, or you may get the cops called on you. Should the owner decide to bother you anyhow, there's no use reasoning with him, so just tell him to lick a camel's ass. Anyone planning to cross the Nullarbor should also note that the Ceduna IGA is the last reasonably priced grocery store that you will find for a long, long time, so stock up.
