Raststation St. Pölten

Almost perfect hitchhiking spot. On a Wednesday noon, it was a bit empty but quickly I found a ride to Vienna!

I suggest to stop or ask at the gas station rather than the restsurant, because it's rather wealthy people who go eat there and families.

It's easy for both directions to hh

A good spot, Like another hitchihker, I got out from one car and immediately got into another, heading to Vienna. That was at 21:30 so even at night you have a chance.

There's also a Burger King so you can warm up or get WiFi and charge your phone.

I was standing on the ramp from roundabout to direction wien. I had a sign "CZ" hopeing that somebody bypassing wien and going to czechia would take me. but two hours nobady stopped me, there was just a few cars with czech car number. so than I changed my sign to "wien" and got a lift in 20 minutes

I got out from one car and immediately found a driver directly to Vienna.

A gas station that accepts traffic from both highway directions. For this reason this is probably a bad hitchhiking spot.

After scouting all the spots in this area this one in my oppinion is the best one as you have a chance to stop the regular traffic coming from the ring and the truck drivers coming from the parking lot. They also have time to scan you before they make their decision. This spot also gives the best feeling.

Though this roundabout is the only place where all the traffic is passing through it is not very convenient for stopping and the on ramps have no space for it.
Preferred the car petrol station to be able to talk to people and after 2 hours, took any lift taking me out of there. Considering the size of the place, not so big traffic that day

stay at the roundabout if you don't want to ask. great spot.

You can get a ride both direction on A1 (Linz and Wien, too). The best place to hitchhike is right there where I put the little circle (maybe because I was hunting for Hungarian truck drivers). Anyway, it's better have a sign! :]

Waited 30 minutes for a ride to LINZ. Cars and trucks also go to Wien. You have to stay somewhere near to the roundabout. Better have a sign/table.

Big petrol station with restaurants, hotels and a huge truck resting place. I waited at the exit roundabout for a ride to Wien.
